C14 Yeh Mei

In the midst of a thunderous shout, the woman launched a punch that startled Zhang Xiaolong.

Don't be fooled by her gender; the instant she threw her punch, Zhang Xiaolong could tell that even if he bundled together all the thugs and both assassins, they wouldn't stand a chance against her blow.

Amid his astonishment, he also found it peculiar how such a seemingly delicate body, lacking the fierce aura of a fabled master, could unleash such tremendous power.

Without dwelling on it, Zhang Xiaolong hastily put into action all that he had learned over the past few days.

Though he had previously revived Mr. Bi, who was on the brink of death in the car, he preferred to leave such good deeds to others when it came to himself.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Their punches and kicks met in rapid succession, and within moments, they had exchanged dozens of moves, each faster than the last. To any bystander, it would appear as though they were both about to cast shadows.

After dozens of exchanges, Zhang Xiaolong's initial tension had dissipated, replaced by growing excitement.

He had always been diligently practicing the Dragon Controlling True Spell on his own. Even when he had clashed with Mr. Bi and the others, it was sheer brute force at play, but now, it felt as though he had integrated all of his previous training.

In that moment, Zhang Xiaolong had forgotten that his opponent was an incredibly beautiful woman, as well as the authority her police uniform represented. He was simply absorbing the essence of her strength.

Each move she made was replayed over and over in his mind, breaking down like frames in a video.

"I've got it," Zhang Xiaolong said with a smile, while still swiftly exchanging blows. His voice was exceptionally calm and confident, "Your body is very flexible. Your strength isn't as immense as one might think, but your quickness makes you appear formidable."

"Enough talk," the policewoman retorted, her tone significantly more stern, "Defeat me and you're free to go. But from the looks of it, you don't have what it takes."

Zhang Xiaolong was momentarily taken aback, then he remembered that the person he was tussling with was not only a stunning woman but also a policewoman. He had just been detained and brought to this place. If he hoped to get out, he'd have to get past this beautiful officer.

He was tempted to let out a wry laugh, but the latter part of her statement ignited a fire within him.

What man would stand to be told by a beautiful woman that he lacked capability? Zhang Xiaolong was no different. Moreover, if he didn't win against this woman and she decided to keep him locked up, that would be a real problem.

"What's so difficult about that?" retorted Zhang Xiaolong, though he wasn't just boasting; he had already devised a strategy while speaking.

In an instant, Zhang Xiaolong's speed tripled.

A glint of surprise flashed in the policewoman's eyes, but she quickly picked up her pace. The sounds of their clash faded, but their movements around the room became even more frighteningly fast, as if they were competing to see whose agility was superior.

Despite their swift movements, they seemed to have an unspoken agreement, avoiding any contact with the objects in the room. They moved like butterflies fluttering through the corners, turning the small interrogation space into what felt like an expansive playground.

Zhang Xiaolong sensed the divine power within him merging with his body faster than ever, as if he had tapped into something truly mystical.

"You're not fast enough!"

With those words, he lunged and grabbed at the figure. Before he could get a clear look, he had already flung the figure away.

The figure let out a startled cry, spinning twice in the air before crashing down onto another table in the interrogation room.

Whether the table was too flimsy or the impact too severe, it collapsed under the weight, its four legs snapping, sending the person atop it crashing to the floor.

Only then could the figure be clearly seen: the policewoman was kneeling on one knee, bracing herself with one hand, looking relatively composed despite the fall.

Her other hand, however, was clutching a sensitive area, the fabric there showing signs of a struggle, and her eyes blazed with fury.

Recalling the scream and the sensation in his hand, and then observing the other person's clothing and reaction, Zhang Xiaolong's face turned red. He waved his hands frantically, "It wasn't intentional, I swear, I really didn't mean it..."

His explanation seemed to only make things worse. Zhang Xiaolong realized he was in deep trouble. There might have been a chance to make things right before, but now, he felt trapped in an iron cage of his own making.

"From whom did you learn your martial arts?" the female police officer asked coldly as she stood up.

"Ah?" Zhang Xiaolong was momentarily taken aback.

"By all accounts, you're just an ordinary student. Aside from being struck by lightning and knocked out before your report, you haven't been in contact with any extraordinary individuals, nor does your family have such a background," she said, her eyes tranquil as still water. "So, where did you acquire your martial arts skills?"

Zhang Xiaolong's mind raced with anxiety. It seemed the female officer had forgotten the earlier mishap where he had accidentally taken advantage of her. That should have been a relief, but now he faced an even more challenging question.

"Is it possible for me to not answer that?" he asked, steeling himself after a long pause. "The person who taught me martial arts made it clear that I should never disclose any information about him to anyone, and honestly, I don't know much about him myself. Even if I wanted to share, I wouldn't know where to begin."

The policewoman scrutinized Zhang Xiaolong for a tense moment. Just when he feared the worst, her expression softened. "Would you be interested in joining Wolf Fang?"

"Wolf Fang?" Zhang Xiaolong breathed a silent sigh of relief but was still perplexed. "What is Wolf Fang?"

"Wolf Fang is a unique organization that undertakes exceptional missions. Each member is a master in their own right, and someone like me is just a normal member," she explained, carefully watching his reaction. "The many privileges I have here, including the authority to issue commands, come from being part of Wolf Fang."

She paused there, silently awaiting Zhang Xiaolong's response.

"I'm sorry, I don't want to join Wolf Fang," Zhang Xiaolong hesitated, but ultimately decided to stand by his convictions. "In a year, I need to enroll at Yanjing University. What you're offering sounds prestigious, but it's not what I'm looking for."

He had expected the policewoman to threaten him in some way, but he was mistaken. She simply gave him a gentle warning, "Wolf Fang doesn't coerce anyone into joining, but be careful not to misuse your power. If you do, Wolf Fang will come after you, and they won't be as courteous as I am."

Zhang Xiaolong was left speechless, managing only a wry smile. So starting a fight was considered courteous now!

He got the message, though. As he was about to respond, the policewoman handed him a card with a series of numbers and a name on it.

"I'm Yeh Mei. If you ever find yourself in a situation you can't handle, feel free to reach out to me," she said icily.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Knocking echoed from outside.
