Lin Mo knew this was no time to lament his dwindling burn value. The instant he set the bushes ablaze, he cranked his burning efficiency up to the max.

A fiery tongue, bright red and over a meter tall, leapt up, engulfing the shrubbery and raging outward.

His burning efficiency was so great that Lin Mo's burn value shot up from 1000 to 500 in a heartbeat.

Yet before he could mourn the rapid depletion, a surge of excitement replaced his concern.

As the flames fed on the bushes, Lin Mo's burn value soared, quickly eclipsing 2000.

"Ding! You have incinerated a Giant Poisonous Armored Worm. Empirical value increased by 2 points."

"Ding! You have incinerated a Stinky Rotten Fly. Empirical value increased by 1 point."

The fire spread from the bushes, radiating outwards, and Lin Mo received a system alert.

Oh? Burning creatures yields empirical value?

Bolstered by the notification, Lin Mo's enthusiasm was rekindled. Eager to evolve and level up, he poured all 2000 points of his newly acquired burn value into the inferno!

The wind rose with the flames, and the fire danced with the wind.

The blaze swelled, stirring the breeze, and as Lin Mo devoured the underbrush, the forest trees began to catch fire.

"Quack! Quack! Quack!"

In the midst of his fiery fervor, an angry cacophony of quacks pierced the sky.

Looking up from the heart of the flames, Lin Mo spotted two enormous, grotesque birds circling overhead.

Their bodies were cloaked in blue feathers, and their appearance was hideously ugly, with bat-like wings instead of feathered ones. Their bellies were grotesquely swollen, resembling inflated barrels.

Demonic Beasts?

Lin Mo was taken aback, but then it made sense to him.

In a forest so remote, the presence of the Demon Clan was unlikely, but the existence of two low-level Demonic Beasts wasn't beyond comprehension.

"Quack! Quack!"

Whoosh!

But then the unexpected occurred. The two hideous blue birds drew in their bloated bellies and expelled a torrent of filthy water from their mouths, dousing the ground flames.

"Hmm?"

Lin Mo felt a twinge of irritation, but since he was on someone else's turf, he redirected his flames toward another area.

"Quack! Quack!"

Yet, the two grotesque giant birds seemed far from grateful. As Lin Mo's fire swerved, they flapped their wings in excitement and pursued him.

"Seriously? No gratitude, huh? Well, if you're not going to let me escape, don't blame me for playing hardball."

Fury took hold of Lin Mo as the two obstinate birds pushed him too far. His flames, now wild and scorching, began to indiscriminately consume every tree in sight.

The fiery tongues rapidly engulfed the leaves, scaling the trees and casting a crimson glow across the sky.

The heat forced the monstrous birds to ascend a few meters, their raucous squawks filling the air.

Lin Mo watched them intently from the heart of the inferno, a cold smirk playing on his lips.

The birds were massive, their bellies bloated with filth, clearly not built for prolonged flight. When they sought a moment's respite, they found no tree unlit.

Halting their water spray, the birds desperately beat their wings, trying to escape the flames. But as they scoured their domain, not a single refuge could be found.

Fear finally gripped the two creatures. They considered abandoning their territory to flee, but their strength had already waned.
