C131 He Went up to It
"The Pill King Competition?"
The man named Ma Tengyue chuckled dismissively and said, "Your Liang family can't even find someone to compete, yet you dream of the Pill King Competition? Even daydreaming isn't this far-fetched!"
"You..." Liang Ruoxuan, flustered, started coughing again.
"What about me? Who's this guy? Did you trick him into coming here with the Pill King Pavilion's name?"
"Get lost... What does this have to do with you?" Liang Ruoxuan trembled with anger, shouting back.
"It has everything to do with me. Don't forget your engagement to my brother. Once the Pill King Competition is over, you'll marry him, and the Pill King Pavilion will be part of your dowry to our Ma family."
"That's nonsense! My father never agreed to this! You forced it on us. I'd rather die than marry your brother, that brute!"
"You don't have a choice. After the competition, both you and the Pill King Pavilion will belong to our Ma family!" Ma Tengyue said, his expression suddenly changing as he glared coldly at Woo Zhengyang.
"Kid, don't let this woman fool you. I'm warning you to stay away from her. She's going to be my sister-in-law!"
"That's a lie! I'd rather die than..." Liang Ruoxuan began coughing violently again, and Woo Zhengyang noticed blood seeping through the handkerchief she held to her mouth.
"Don't get upset, let's just go inside first!" Woo Zhengyang had no clue what was going on, so he tried to calm Liang Ruoxuan down. Otherwise, from the looks of it, she might just pass out from anger.
"Hey, kid, didn't you hear what I just said? Stay away from her, or one day you might find yourself in deep trouble. Ha ha..." Ma Tengyue laughed, seemingly amused by the thought.
"Are you threatening me?" Woo Zhengyang suddenly turned around, fixing his gaze on Ma Tengyue.
Under Woo Zhengyang's intense stare, Ma Tengyue felt a sudden pang of unease. However, he quickly regained his composure and leaned in with a sly grin, "You've got some nerve, kid, but you've picked the wrong guy to mess with. What if I am threatening you? Do you believe I could have you tossed out of town by tonight?"
Seeing this guy up close, with that infuriating smirk on his face, Woo Zhengyang couldn't hold back any longer.
"Oh, really?"
As Woo Zhengyang spoke, his eyes turned cold, and he swung his hand toward Ma Tengyue's face.
Ma Tengyue's expression changed drastically as he quickly stepped back, shouting, "You dare to make a move?"
Woo Zhengyang's slap didn't land on Ma Tengyue's face. It wasn't that Ma Tengyue dodged it, but rather that Woo Zhengyang's hand was caught.
The one who grabbed Woo Zhengyang wasn't just anyone—it was the old servant by Liang Ruoxuan's side. Back in the small, unnamed town, when a guard tried to attack Woo Zhengyang, he noticed that this white-haired servant was no ordinary person. Even though the servant only took a single step, his speed was beyond what a Nine-star Martial Disciple could achieve. Most impressively, when Woo Zhengyang sent the guard flying with a single palm strike, the servant stopped immediately. This level of control was something Woo Zhengyang could only dream of.
While others might not have noticed, Woo Zhengyang had already discerned that the old servant was definitely at the Martial Master Stage. Now, Woo Zhengyang had a new understanding of the servant's abilities. To be able to grab his arm so effortlessly, the servant was likely a Middle Rank Martial Master in the Reality Condensing Stage, or perhaps even an Advanced Martial Master.
Woo Zhengyang wasn't surprised by the servant's skills. What puzzled him was why the servant would help his opponent by stopping him.
"Senior Brother Woo, you can't just start a fight in Cloud City," Liang Ruoxuan explained, clearing up Woo Zhengyang's confusion.
Just as Woo Zhengyang was about to speak, he noticed a squad of armored soldiers approaching down the street. The middle-aged man leading them shouted as he walked, "Clear the way... Who's causing trouble on Pill King Street?"
"Uncle Yu Jun..." Liang Ruoxuan quickly bowed in respect upon seeing the man.
The middle-aged man named Yu Jun saw Liang Ruoxuan and a slight smile crossed his otherwise stern face. He then shouted at Ma Tengyue, "Ma family kid, are you causing trouble again?"
Ma Tengyue, still shaken, was instantly furious at these words. But upon seeing who had arrived, he had to suppress his anger and said through gritted teeth, "Commander Yu, look closely. This guy attacked me. Aren't you going to uphold justice and arrest him?"
"Hmph! I don't need you to tell me what to do. Ruoxuan, what's going on?"
"Uncle, it was Ma Tengyue who started provoking. Senior Brother Woo is new here and didn't know the situation, so he almost reacted, but Uncle Hai stopped him."
"Whether he stopped or not, he did try to hit me! Commander Yu, don't play favorites!"
"Enough!" Yu Jun snapped, surveying the scene.
Uncle Hai, worried Woo Zhengyang might continue, was still holding his arm, which was raised mid-air, suggesting he had indeed tried to strike.
Ma Tengyue stood by, eager to see Yu Jun's decision.
"He was just swatting a fly. What does that have to do with you?"
Yu Jun's words nearly made Ma Tengyue fall over in disbelief... In this late fall, early winter weather, where would a fly come from? If you're going to show favoritism, at least come up with a better excuse!
Woo Zhengyang couldn't help but chuckle at Yu Jun's flimsy excuse. It was clear he was trying to help out because of Liang Ruoxuan, but his reasoning was laughably weak.
Ma Tengyue took a few deep breaths to calm himself, resisting the urge to jump up. In a mocking tone, he said, "Commander Yu, you're clearly taking this kid's side!"
Caught in his weak excuse, Yu Jun blushed with embarrassment and retorted angrily, "Are you questioning my judgment or my fairness in enforcing the rules? Do you need me to take you back for a lesson?"
At Yu Jun's words, Ma Tengyue's expression changed instantly. It seemed he'd had a memorable "lesson" with Yu Jun before.
"No, no, I wouldn't dare. Since this kid is supposedly swatting flies, let's see if he actually caught one!" Ma Tengyue said, leaning forward with a smug look, his face close to Woo Zhengyang's hand, eyes full of mockery. "Weren't you acting tough just now? Go ahead, swat that fly!"
"Looks like there's actually a big fly here!" Woo Zhengyang chuckled, channeling energy into his Profound Heavy Gathering Silk Gloves, activating their power.
"Smack..."
The crisp sound of a slap echoed loudly, leaving everyone around stunned.
Woo Zhengyang hadn't moved at all, yet Ma Tengyue seemed to have thrown himself right into it...
