C142 Wife's Letter(1)

Two weeks flew by, and the day of the Pill King Competition had arrived. During this time, Woo Zhengyang mostly immersed himself in studying alchemical texts, occasionally taking the energy-boosting pills he crafted. Even so, his Sword-shaped Genuine Qi finally reached his heart, achieving the eighth level of the Refined Veins stage.

The only downside was that taking more energy-boosting pills now had little effect. To break through to the ninth level, he would need to find another way.

"Zhengyang!" Early in the morning, Liang Ruoxuan burst out of the alchemy room, brimming with excitement.

"How did it go?" Woo Zhengyang asked.

Liang Ruoxuan gave a sly smile and said mysteriously, "I managed to produce three treasure pills of mid-grade quality at level eight!"

The term "production rate" she mentioned was different from the "success rate" she had talked about before. Previously, when she referred to the success rate, she meant the likelihood of crafting a single pill that reached level eight quality. The production rate, however, referred to creating a batch of pills, where three out of nine were mid-grade level eight treasure pills.

For Liang Ruoxuan, achieving such a production rate was incredibly high, and it was no wonder she was so thrilled.

"Congratulations, congratulations!" Woo Zhengyang sincerely exclaimed.

Over the past two weeks, Woo Zhengyang had witnessed Liang Ruoxuan's growth firsthand and knew well the sacrifices she made. Her recently recovered body now appeared quite weary, but thankfully, it was not an unhealthy exhaustion and wouldn't cause any issues.

"Thanks, and same to you... At this rate, once I get my hands on the 'Pill King Note' and retreat for six months, I might just be able to make a Dragon Saliva Pill for you, Mr. Zhengyang," Liang Ruoxuan said, never forgetting her promise about the Dragon Saliva Pill, which warmed Woo Zhengyang's heart.

"That would be fantastic. Let's head out!"

"Sure, Uncle Hai must have everything ready. Today, we'll show the Ma family what I'm capable of, hmph!"

As they stepped out of the alchemy room, Uncle Hai was waiting as usual. However, beside him was someone Woo Zhengyang would rather not see—Liang Ruoqing.

As they emerged, Liang Ruoqing was fiddling with a tuft of hair on the mole on his cheek, his mischievous smile and oddly charming face making Woo Zhengyang quickly avert his gaze, fearing he might lose his lunch from a few days ago.

Seeing them come out, Liang Ruoqing grinned and called out, "Oh, Ruoxuan, you're finally out!"

Liang Ruoxuan had seen Liang Ruoqing's disgusting behavior since childhood, and it still made her sick, especially after he betrayed the family. She snapped, "Traitor! Why haven't you run off to be the Ma family's lapdog yet?"

Of course, Liang Ruoxuan wished Liang Ruoqing would leave the family estate sooner rather than later, but things were never that simple. After her father's death, even though she was the face of the Pill King Pavilion, most of the power lay with Liang Ruoqing's father. Otherwise, she wouldn't have needed to personally travel with Uncle Hai to gather materials for alchemy.

Liang Ruoqing's father hadn't allied with the Ma family, but he had his eyes on the Pill King Pavilion. While Liang Ruoqing's character was questionable, his talent in alchemy was undeniable. His father had hoped to leverage this talent to take over the pavilion, but his son was unreliable and somehow got swayed by the Ma family. Unable to control him, his father decided to let things play out, waiting for the results of the Pill King Competition.

Liang Ruoqing was shameless, unfazed even when Woo Zhengyang kicked him. He even had the nerve to say he enjoyed it, so he certainly didn't care about Liang Ruoxuan's mild insults. With a sly grin, he said, "Ruoxuan, you and Uncle Hai were in there alone for quite a while. Aren't you worried about what people might say?"

"Traitor, don't think everyone is as vile as you. There's nothing improper between me and Mr. Zhengyang, so what do I have to fear?"

"Well, well... Mr. Zhengyang... that's quite an affectionate way to call him. You never called me Mr. Ruoqing, and you claim there's nothing improper. Even if I believe you, would anyone else?"

"There's no point in talking to a beast like you. Let's go!" Woo Zhengyang was utterly disgusted by Liang Ruoqing. He never imagined he could be so repulsed by someone, to the point where he didn't even want to lift a finger against him.

"Mr. Zhengyang... calling me a beast... even though I don't like that name, if it's coming from you, I might just accept it!"

"If you say another word, I will kill you!"

This guy was clearly here to provoke, and Woo Zhengyang was reaching his limit, his voice cold as ice.

He expected Liang Ruoqing to continue his taunts, but unexpectedly, the man dropped his mocking smile and sneered, "Hmph! You say you'll kill me, but do you even know what your reputation is right now..."
