C447 Gravity Room(1)

In the pitch-black night, the rain turned colder and more biting.

"Ah..."

A chilling scream suddenly pierced the air, sending shivers down everyone's spine.

"Who screamed? What's going on?" someone asked, but there was no reply.

After a moment, a trembling voice spoke up, "The scream... it was right next to my ear, but... there was no one beside me..."

The person who spoke had been on the edge of the group, but now they pushed their way into the center, clearly shaken.

Their words plunged the world into a brief, terrifying silence, then chaos erupted.

"Big brother... could it be a ghost?" Little Rice was so scared she practically burrowed into Woo Zhengyang's side.

"Yeah, could it be that this place is haunted?" another girl asked, her voice trembling after hearing Little Rice's words.

"Ah..."

"Ah..."

Just as the girl's voice trailed off, two more screams echoed through the air.

"What happened..."

"Is that you, Sam? Why are you screaming..."

After the screams, the group descended into further chaos.

By now, everyone had slowly adjusted to the absolute darkness that followed the loss of light. With their eyes straining, they could make out their surroundings, so the source of the screams was not as elusive as before.

"Look... there's a white figure over there..." the boy named Sam said, raising the sword in his hand.

It's a pity that at this moment, his hand holding the sword was trembling slightly. Although they were martial cultivators, at the end of the day, they were still young and inexperienced. The death of the honest young man had already shattered their mental defenses, making them feel like they had come to a very dangerous place. The sudden, eerie change had stripped away their strong facade. They weren't particularly afraid of fighting or even dying, but this feeling of being in an unknown and bewildering place was truly unsettling.

Everyone looked in the direction he pointed, but there was nothing there. "Don't scare yourself. There's no white shadow; you must be seeing things," someone said confidently. However, just as those words left his mouth, he cried out, "Ah... there really is a white shadow..." This time, it wasn't just him; many saw it—a white shadow drifting down from the side...

Chaos erupted among the group, and Woo Zhengyang even caught a whiff of urine in the air. "Don't be afraid, everyone. It's just someone trying to scare us on purpose," Woo Zhengyang reassured them. Initially, Woo Zhengyang was also caught up in the eerie atmosphere, but on second thought, he realized it was a deliberate act by someone. Breaking the situation was actually simple; Woo Zhengyang just needed to take out a luminous pearl from his Hidden Heaven Bag. However, while these pearls weren't particularly valuable in the previous world, they were extremely rare here, and Woo Zhengyang hesitated to bring one out easily.

When the white figure appeared, Woo Zhengyang was certain it was a deliberate act by someone. Sure enough, just as Woo Zhengyang finished speaking, the central light curtain brightened again.

"Haha..."

"Three of them wet their pants, haha..."

The sudden darkness was disorienting, and the abrupt return of light was just as jarring. Before anyone could fully grasp their surroundings, bursts of laughter echoed around them.

Woo Zhengyang, with his back to the light curtain, was less affected and was the first to take in the scene. The buildings surrounding the plaza were crowded with people, all laughing uproariously in the direction of Woo Zhengyang and his group, as if watching a circus act.

Among the laughter, one voice stood out from the crowd. It was the same person who had screamed earlier, claiming the scream had sounded right in his ear. He was also the one who announced that three people had wet their pants. Clearly, the initial terrifying scream was his doing.

Woo Zhengyang recalled that this was the same person who suggested everything within the light curtain might be an illusion. This meant he had already disguised himself and blended in, unnoticed by everyone else. Everything that had just happened was part of a premeditated plan.

With the light restored, the white figure had nowhere to hide. Everyone could now clearly see a thread held by two people, with a long robe shaped like a human figure hanging from it.

However, once the truth was revealed, the young people's expressions didn't improve. The recent events were indeed terrifying, but they felt that these suddenly appearing individuals were even more frightening. These people had orchestrated everything that had just happened, merely for their own amusement.

First, someone died, and then everyone was played for fools. The Azure Sun Martial Mansion, which they had all longed for, was nothing like they imagined. Instead, it was filled with fear and anxiety. Most importantly, this was just the beginning of a year-long ordeal.

Could it be that the so-called Thousand-village Martial Competition was just a way to select a few people for the amusement of those at the Azure Sun Martial Mansion? Even Woo Zhengyang was starting to have doubts, as he noticed the way those around him looked at the village youths—with nothing but mockery, disdain, and even contempt.
