C512 Lifeending Jade Hands
To be fair, those women, though sealed in spirit crystals for years, looked just like any other person, and they were undeniably beautiful. However, in Du Yusheng's eyes, their delicate hands had turned into scythes of death.
In Du Yusheng's mind, Woo Zhengyang, standing nearby, might not have shown a smug expression, but he was surely feeling a sense of secret delight. After all, all of this was caused by the real culprit—Woo Zhengyang.
From the moment Du Yusheng first saw Woo Zhengyang in the cave, he had pegged him as a mere stepping stone. Little did he know, he himself would end up being the stepping stone!
"I'd rather die than be your stepping stone!" Du Yusheng shouted defiantly, drawing his flying sword, preparing to soar through the air.
As he stepped onto the sword, his speed surged, leaving the woman's delicate hands grasping at empty air. Yet, in the next moment, the anger on Du Yusheng's face transformed into sheer terror.
Suddenly, his entire body began to swell rapidly, and then, like a massive firework, he exploded violently...
Du Yusheng had gambled everything to thwart Woo Zhengyang's plan, but unfortunately, he couldn't escape his fate as the stepping stone.
Woo Zhengyang was curious to know if others could also fly on swords, and if not, what the consequences might be. Du Yusheng gave Zhengyang a firsthand look, but the scene was gruesome, with pieces of flesh flying and a mist of blood in the air.
After Du Yusheng exploded in midair, the woman behind him set her sights on Zhengyang. He tried to fly higher on his sword, but soon felt an immense pressure from above. It seemed that both the previous archer and these women flew low for a reason.
Fortunately, Zhengyang's speed on his sword was faster than these women, so he didn't worry about being caught. With no one around, he could hide in the Ice Crystal Fire Hall to try and shake them off, but he chose not to. He wanted to see how these women could be dealt with.
No one could be sure if similar situations would arise later, and if something faster than his sword appeared, he'd be caught off guard. Moreover, Zhengyang hadn't forgotten about Situ Jingxiang. She likely hadn't escaped the women chasing her either. If he could find a way to deal with these women, he could head in Jingxiang's direction and see if he could lend her a hand.
The sword aura attack was ineffective, so similar tactics were out of the question. Woo Zhengyang thought for a moment, then changed direction, circling back to where Du Yusheng's body had exploded.
Before long, Woo Zhengyang found what he was looking for: Du Yusheng's Hidden Heaven Bag. Picking it up, he glanced inside and retrieved the bow and arrows Du Yusheng had just used.
Since the sword aura was useless, Woo Zhengyang wanted to try a more tangible attack on the woman to see what effect it might have. However, these women were truly bizarre, and Woo Zhengyang was reluctant to get too close. The bow and arrows would have to do.
Woo Zhengyang wasn't the best shot, but this wasn't hunting. The woman behind him seemed to lack awareness, so he could close the distance a bit before taking action.
Slowing his pace, Woo Zhengyang waited until the woman was about ten yards away. He nocked an arrow and drew the bow.
After some consideration, Woo Zhengyang still wasn't confident in his aim, so he waited a bit longer.
Six yards!
Three yards!
When the woman was just three feet away, Woo Zhengyang finally released the bowstring.
Even so, his shot was slightly off. He had aimed for the woman's chest, but the arrow ended up hitting her shoulder.
Regardless, Woo Zhengyang's arrow had finally hit its mark.
Woo Zhengyang was at a loss. Despite the arrow piercing the woman's shoulder, she showed no reaction, not even a drop of blood. Unwilling to give up, Woo Zhengyang nocked another arrow and drew his bow.
"Whoosh..."
This shot, though slightly off-target, landed in a spot he found satisfactory—right in the woman's throat. Yet, she remained unresponsive. The only silver lining was that, unlike before, her speed didn't increase after being hit by two arrows. In fact, the resistance from the arrows seemed to slow her down a bit.
It appeared that the woman could absorb attacks infused with life force. To test this theory, Woo Zhengyang shot another arrow, this time imbuing it with his own life force. As expected, the woman reacted, and in a way that was beyond ordinary. She caught the arrow mid-flight and slowly absorbed the life force within, gaining a slight boost in speed.
The woman had a strong sensitivity to life force, suggesting that the only way to deal with her was through sheer force. With this in mind, Woo Zhengyang aimed another arrow, this time targeting her core. As usual, his shot was off, but after three attempts, he finally hit the mark. Unfortunately, the woman remained unaffected.
In his final attempt, Woo Zhengyang aimed at the woman’s forehead. He believed that although these women appeared ordinary, there must be a core within them. If it wasn’t the dantian, it had to be the spiritual center in the forehead.
Thinking about his archery skills, Woo Zhengyang felt a bitter smile creep onto his face. The target area was so small—how long would it take for him to hit it?
“No way, I refuse to believe I can’t hit something this close with my bow!” Woo Zhengyang thought, frustrated. He tried to recall the archery techniques he learned back in Great Leaf Village, carefully nocking an arrow and drawing the bowstring.
“Whoosh...” Woo Zhengyang released his most focused and attentive shot yet!
But...
The arrow still missed the target. Not only did it miss, but the deviation was greater than ever before. His aim was the forehead, yet the arrow landed on the shoulder.
Wiping sweat from his brow, Woo Zhengyang silently vowed never to practice archery in front of others again.
Despite missing, this shot revealed something to Woo Zhengyang. The arrow landed near the spot where his first arrow had hit, but the mark from the first arrow was gone. The woman’s almost bare shoulder showed only the latest wound, and even the clothing that had been pierced by the arrow was as good as new!
Looking around, it was the same everywhere. After being hit by so many arrows from Woo Zhengyang, the woman should have been riddled with holes. Yet, only the most recent arrows left any marks, and even those were slowly fading away...
