C647 There Are People Inside

“Mom, why am I so unlucky...”

Lee Yuanye's final exclamation was quickly drowned out by the rumbling of the Invincible Cannon Car. The group held their breath for Lee Yuanye but weren't overly worried, as they saw that the moment the car's shield shattered, he had already donned his massive turtle-shell armor.

The Invincible Cannon Car rumbled and rolled for nearly a hundred yards before coming to a stop. After a while, Lee Yuanye, clad in his turtle-shell suit, crawled out from the wreckage.

The others, however, were too preoccupied to pay him much attention, each wearing a worried expression as they surveyed the Invincible Cannon Car. The car was in bad shape; the ground was incredibly hard, and after all that rolling, many of its edges were worn down, with several gaps appearing. The smaller cannons were bent or broken, and many had fallen off along the way.

The most significant damage was at the front of the Invincible Cannon Car, where a dark, gaping hole had been blasted open by an energy sphere, and the main turret was nowhere to be found.

“Dang it, I knew I couldn't escape this mess. Hey... hey... what are you guys doing? My turtle shell is stuck. Can someone give me a hand and get me out of here?”

Seeing Woo Zhengyang and the others all focused on the Invincible Cannon Car, ignoring him, Lee Yuanye felt quite annoyed and said, "Hey, what about me?"

Unfortunately, no one paid him any attention. Huo'er complained, "I told you, this guy's unreliable. Now the Invincible Cannon Car is wrecked, and it's going to be even more dangerous ahead. What are we going to do?"

"What do you mean I'm unreliable? I was just trying to experiment! You guys are so heartless," Lee Yuanye lamented, feeling helpless.

The group still ignored him, their faces filled with worry as they looked at the Invincible Cannon Car. Given its condition, fixing it anytime soon seemed impossible.

According to the Red-clothed Demon King, even with the Invincible Cannon Car, their chances of making it through were slim. Without it, their strongest defense was gone.

"Alright, alright, stop mourning for it. I, the great seer, had already predicted that the Invincible Cannon Car would meet such a fate. It was unavoidable. I just didn't expect to be caught up in this mess myself..."

Lee Yuanye, frustrated, shouted, "Can you guys get me out of here first?"

"Idiot, do you still need to wear your turtle shell armor?" the one in the black robe snapped.

Lee Yuanye smacked his forehead, realizing his mistake. "Oh man... that stupid formation really scared me..."

As Lee Yuanye tucked away his turtle-shell armor, he crawled out from under the wrecked Invincible Cannon Car. The destruction of the car was a major setback, though Lee insisted it was just a twist of fate. The others weren't buying it. They sent him and the car into the Star World, pooling their resources to help him fix it.

Despite the increased danger ahead, Woo Zhengyang and the others refused to give up. They continued to study the mysterious barrier. It hadn't existed thousands of years ago, making its sudden appearance all the more puzzling.

"Could it be that the barrier was originally there but was destroyed during some great catastrophe, which is why the Red-clothed Demon King didn't encounter it? And now, after all these years, it's reappeared?" Bing'er speculated.

However, Black Robe quickly dismissed this idea.

First, according to the beast-skin map, there was no barrier here. Second, even if someone had set up a barrier later, it wouldn't have been to block humans. Remember, this is the ancestral land of the Human Clan!

"Could this be some kind of formation, like the protective shield of the Invincible Cannon Car?" Li'er suggested.

"It shouldn't be! The barrier can even reflect the attacks of the Invincible Cannon Car. If it were a formation, it would have to be at least Emperor Rank. Even if the Red-clothed Demon King knew how to set up formations, they couldn't possibly create one of this magnitude. Otherwise, they could have easily dealt with the Great Desolate Ancient Clan," Lee Yuanye replied.

"Could it be some kind of barrier or trap set by others?" Huo'er added.

"That doesn't make sense. According to the map and what the cloaked figure said, there wasn't any barrier here before. If someone else set it up, does that mean others have been here since? It couldn't have been those divine or devil pets, right? Even if they were as powerful as Emperor Rank, they wouldn't have the intelligence to do this."

Despite dismissing the idea, Woo Zhengyang took out the Resonance Pearl and pressed it against the barrier to sense it.

Even if it wasn't a barrier or trap, the Resonance Pearl might still detect something. It was worth a try.

To his surprise, Woo Zhengyang was stunned...

"How is this possible... it really is a barrier..." Woo Zhengyang exclaimed, shocked that his earlier certainty was so quickly proven wrong.

"Hehe... even the great Woo Zhengyang makes mistakes sometimes," Bing'er and the other three women laughed. Woo Zhengyang had always been seen as infallible in their eyes, so they couldn't miss this rare chance to tease him.

"This... this isn't right!" Woo Zhengyang ignored their teasing, his face full of disbelief.

"What's going on?" the cloaked figure asked, noticing Woo Zhengyang's reaction.

"This barrier was set from the inside, and it seems to have been placed not long ago. But no one should have been here before us!"

The people of the Great Desolate Ancient Clan wouldn't lie to them; no one should have entered this place for nearly ten thousand years.

Even if someone managed to slip past the formidable Ancient Clan, they'd still face the Red-clothed Demon King and his allies on the road, not to mention a Holy City teeming with divine and devilish creatures. Who could possibly traverse such a perilous path and set up an array?

Though Woo Zhengyang couldn't determine the array's rank, he had noted that it repelled even the Invincible Cannon Car, doubling the attack back. Whether it was Emperor Rank or not, how could there be such a powerful Array Master here?

"Sir, should I try attacking with all my might?" Yun'er suggested, noticing Woo Zhengyang's dilemma.

With the recent failure of the Invincible Cannon Car, Woo Zhengyang was reluctant to let Yun'er take the risk. Shaking his head, he replied, "Brute force won't break it."

"So, what do we do?" Everyone looked worried, at a loss for solutions.

"Does anyone here have an array manual above the King Rank?"

Since brute force was ineffective, they had to counter it with an array. But breaking an Emperor Rank array was beyond Woo Zhengyang's King Rank abilities.

With no other options, Woo Zhengyang turned his attention to the golden vortex that had repeatedly surprised them...
