C730 The Bronze Coffin
In the life and death of a practitioner, the most likely places to hide valuable treasures are either their residence during life or their burial site. Of course, many practitioners don't bother building their own tombs, choosing instead to live and die in their abodes.
Even in a world where strength reigns supreme, Woo Zhengyang inherently dislikes the idea of barging into someone else's tomb and disturbing the peace of the departed. If he knew this was just a burial chamber, even if it contained great treasures, Woo Zhengyang wouldn't be tempted.
However, by a twist of fate, Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue found themselves at this point. Even if they didn't take anything, they wanted to see who was laid to rest below to warrant such an elaborate tomb.
After exchanging a few words, Woo Zhengyang was the first to leap down the opening, with Bing Yue quickly following suit. As they descended, a peculiar sensation washed over Woo Zhengyang, startling him at first, but then bringing him joy.
Bing Yue, though jumping after, used her energy to speed up and quickly embraced Woo Zhengyang. This was a pre-arranged plan to prevent any unforeseen events from separating them.
The two landed together without incident, with Bing Yue nestling sweetly into Woo Zhengyang's arms. A few moments later, Bing Yue noticed something amiss.
"What's going on? We haven't landed yet?" Bing Yue asked in confusion, glancing downwards.
As she looked down, she was stunned. Earlier, when she glanced from above, it seemed like just a small burial chamber below, no more than a hundred feet deep. Yet, they still hadn't reached the ground. Just moments ago, when she checked again, she realized they were still about a hundred feet from the ground.
"Have we been falling forever and still just circling around the entrance?" Bing Yue wondered as she looked up, even more bewildered. The entrance was now hundreds of feet above them, maybe even a thousand. They had fallen for what seemed like ages, covering hundreds of feet, yet they were still a hundred feet from the ground. What was going on?
The most baffling part was that she could clearly feel that she and Woo Zhengyang were plummeting at a high speed, yet the distance to the ground wasn't decreasing. Woo Zhengyang, however, seemed unfazed and reassured her, "Don't worry, looks like we're going to be flying for a bit."
"Oh!" Bing Yue had grown accustomed to relying on Woo Zhengyang. Whatever he said, she accepted. But after responding, she suddenly looked at him with curiosity, "Why aren't you surprised by something so strange? And how do you know we're going to be flying for a while?"
"I told you before, I've been to many places, but you didn't believe me!" Woo Zhengyang chuckled.
"Yeah, right... I still don't believe it! You're so young, where could you have possibly been? Besides, many people have tracked your whereabouts. Before coming here, you definitely hadn't even left the area around your Heavenly Martial Sect," Bing Yue insisted, sticking to her belief.
"Sometimes, what you see isn't always the truth, let alone what someone else sees," Woo Zhengyang remarked noncommittally.
"Alright, alright... I believe you. After all, you're my dear Zhengyang," Bing Yue teased in a playful tone. "So, tell me, where have you been?"
"I've visited the ancestral lands of humanity, seen the first city of our kind, and even laid eyes on the sacred mountain named after our forebears." Over the past few days, they had gotten to know each other well. Even if they weren't lovers, they were certainly good friends, and Woo Zhengyang didn't intend to hide his journey to the ancestral lands.
"Wow, Mr. Zhengyang, you're amazing! Tell me, what's our ancestral land like? And what's this first city of ours? How tall is the sacred mountain?" Bing Yue's playful tone made it clear she didn't quite believe him.
Woo Zhengyang smiled slightly and began to recount how he discovered an ancient formation behind the Profound Heaven Sect.
At first, Bing Yue listened with a smile, clearly skeptical. But as the story unfolded, her smile faded, replaced by an expression of astonishment.
As they continued to descend, holding onto each other, Woo Zhengyang spoke of the sealed world. It was a thrilling and unforgettable memory, and as he spoke, Woo Zhengyang found himself getting caught up in the tale.
He spoke of the Cleansing Rain, the Heaven Shrouding Great Array, and the Great Leaf Village, as well as the Azure Sun Martial Mansion. He mentioned the Misty Mountain Range, the Hundred Flower World, and the origins of his Star World. He also talked about the arrogant Young Master Lee Yuanye and the enigmatic Black-robed Holy Nun.
He recounted their journey through the Myriad Desolate Mountain, their encounters with the revered Great Desolate Ancient Clan, and their battles against divine and demonic servants. They had reached the first city of the Human Clan and the sacred mountain, eventually returning to their current world through the altar.
Naturally, Woo Zhengyang also brought up the seemingly simple yet vast bamboo forest. The place they were in now was similar to that forest, which is why Woo Zhengyang felt a familiar sensation.
Unlike the mysterious bamboo forest, which they entered by walking on flat ground, they had jumped into this tomb chamber from mid-air. From above, it seemed only about 130 feet high, but inside, countless layers of space were stacked, making their descent seem endless while the distance above grew far.
Without their previous experiences, Woo Zhengyang would have been utterly perplexed.
Now, Woo Zhengyang could tell Bing Yue that what she saw wasn't real. They were both shrinking infinitely, and if someone looked from above, they'd probably just be tiny, barely noticeable dots.
Bing Yue chose to believe in Woo Zhengyang's strange experience. However, she found his explanation hard to accept. Woo Zhengyang didn't elaborate further but pointed behind Bing Yue.
She turned to look and then glanced back at Woo Zhengyang, her eyes wide with surprise. What Woo Zhengyang had pointed to was a bronze coffin. From above, it had seemed normal, nothing unusual. But now, as Bing Yue looked again, the coffin was unrecognizable.
No, it was still visible. The bronze coffin had transformed into a colossal object, so massive they couldn't see it in its entirety. Even a single pattern on it was larger than both of them combined.
