C732 With the Formation Laid out

“Ha ha... I was right! There's another waterfall!” Bing Yue cheered excitedly as the third waterfall appeared before them.

Woo Zhengyang looked up at the sky, speechless, deciding that this time he would definitely fly with his sword by himself.

However...

Just as they were approaching the waterfall, Bing Yue dashed forward like a madwoman, grabbed Woo Zhengyang, and soared into the air.

“Zhengyang, do you think there might be a fourth waterfall?” Bing Yue asked with a smile before they even crossed the waterfall.

“There won't be!” Woo Zhengyang replied, a bit exasperated.

Once they confirmed there was no danger, they prepared to move faster. To avoid being outpaced by Bing Yue again, Woo Zhengyang quickly summoned his flying sword. But as he took off, he realized he could only fly a little over ten feet high.

“Ha ha... Zhengyang, your sword-flying skills are amazing! You can fly so high...” Bing Yue clapped below, teasingly.

“What’s going on? I can’t fly higher here. Why don’t you try?”

“I’m not trying. If I fly up easily, it’ll be embarrassing for you, Zhengyang.”

Woo Zhengyang was speechless. After all this, how could he have any dignity left?

Despite her words, Bing Yue took to the air. Unexpectedly, she too was held down at just over ten feet.

"What's going on? Why does it feel like we're in a swamp up there? We didn't have this feeling when we flew over the last waterfall!"

"Try going a bit further, and you'll find out," Woo Zhengyang said, looking ahead where another waterfall appeared.

As they approached the waterfall, a peculiar sensation emerged. It was as if the space above suddenly opened up, allowing them to easily soar over the waterfall and land on a new stretch of flat ground, lush with green grass and blooming flowers.

"Why is everything so similar here? How many waterfalls are there? Is this some kind of maze? But something feels off. The places we've been through aren't the same," Bing Yue wondered aloud.

"Let's stop for a moment. I want to test something," Woo Zhengyang replied, also sensing something was amiss. This was already the fifth waterfall.

When they encountered the second waterfall, Woo Zhengyang was surprised by the designer's apparent fondness for waterfalls. By the third, he had carefully memorized their path, but he realized each waterfall and the route they took were different, only similar as Bing Yue had noted.

At the fourth waterfall, they were distracted by disturbances in the sky, so they didn't think much of it. Now, with the fifth waterfall before them, Woo Zhengyang decided not to proceed recklessly.

He took out a resonance pearl to sense whether there was a formation in this world.

Woo Zhengyang was stunned. According to the readings from the seismic pearl, this small space was filled with thousands of formations—big and small, horizontal and vertical, layered intricately. Zhengyang had reached a master level in the art of formations, but he had never seen so many formations densely packed together without conflicting with each other. Instead, they complemented one another. What kind of genius would it take to create such a harmonious combination of formations?

As he delved deeper into understanding them, cold sweat trickled down his back. He had never been so grateful to possess the seismic pearl. The more advanced his skills became, the more he believed the pearl was optional. Even without it, he thought he could sense and break through formations with some effort. But now, he had changed his mind.

Without the seismic pearl, he might be able to see through the formations, but not with complete clarity. In the face of these peculiar formations, it was one thing, but here, without the pearl, both he and Bing Yue would surely meet their end with no trace left behind.

The thousands of formations here seemed devoid of any lethal intent, creating a world of lush greenery and vibrant flowers. Yet, no one would suspect the creator of these formations was so ingenious, using formations to build upon formations. Smaller formations served as the foundation, while larger ones acted as the source, relying on and restraining each other, perpetually in balance.

If someone fails to notice this and tries to break the formation from a small array, their troubles will begin. It's like pulling a thread that unravels the whole tapestry. Once a small array is broken, the entire formation activates, using the world's energy as its power, wiping out anyone caught inside...

The more he looked, the more alarmed Woo Zhengyang became. He was immensely relieved that both he and Bing Yue were cautious by nature. They had managed to avoid triggering any formations along the way. Otherwise, they might not have survived.

"What's wrong?" Bing Yue asked nervously when she saw Woo Zhengyang open his eyes. Just moments ago, when Woo Zhengyang had used the resonance orb to peer into the situation, she had noticed beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

Bing Yue had always seen Woo Zhengyang as calm and composed, unflappable in any situation. She had never seen him this tense before.

"This time, it seems like we're in real trouble..." Woo Zhengyang said with a wry smile, sharing everything he had discovered with Bing Yue.

After hearing him out, Bing Yue's expression turned serious. Although she didn't know much about formations, she could sense the danger.

"So, what do we do now?" Bing Yue asked, as she always relied on Woo Zhengyang's judgment.

"Let's keep moving and see what happens."

"Keep going forward?"

"Yes, because I can't tell if what we're seeing is an illusion or something else."

Woo Zhengyang spoke as he pulled out an ordinary longsword from the Star World and tossed it on the ground. The two of them continued forward, leaping over the waterfall ahead. Sure enough, beyond the waterfall was another stretch of lush green grass. After walking for a while, they encountered a white ribbon of water hanging in front of them.

"What’s going on here? Why are there so many waterfalls? This must be some kind of illusion!" Bing Yue remarked, her initial excitement at seeing the waterfall now gone.

"I’m not sure if it’s an illusion, but we’ve definitely wandered into a maze," Woo Zhengyang said, taking a few steps forward and picking up the longsword from the ground. It was the same one he had just thrown.

"How can this be? This place looks similar to where we were before, but it’s clearly different!"

"That's why I say we can't be sure if this is an illusion. It might be real, but with changes to confuse us."

"Does that mean we've been walking in circles this whole time?"

"I'm afraid so. We're lost..."

Lost! Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue had been lost before. They once accidentally ventured deep into an icy layer, which was a dangerous situation because finding the way back was difficult. But compared to this, that experience seemed much safer.

They simply couldn't find their way back, allowing them to act freely and explore in every possible way. But once they saw a glimmer of hope, even if it took a bit longer, they could find their way out. This time, however, they were truly trapped in what seemed like a breathtakingly beautiful, yet perilously dangerous, cemetery.

They had no idea whose burial ground this was. They were clueless about who had set up such an intricate array of traps, making it impossible to act recklessly. Woo Zhengyang had never encountered such a complex arrangement of illusions and had no idea how to dismantle it.

The most concerning part was that this was merely the starting point of their journey into the cemetery, and they were already feeling helplessly lost. Who knows what they would face further down the path...
