C734 Was It Lucky or Unlucky?
Within the Waterfall!
Woo Zhengyang chose his refuge within the waterfall itself. Perhaps to enhance its beauty, many stones were placed amidst the cascade. According to Zhengyang's perception, even if the dense array of formations were triggered, these stones would remain unharmed. Thus, placing the Star Bead among the rugged rocks was the safest option.
Having selected the location, the next step was to trigger the explosion. Zhengyang secured the Star Bead, ensuring it wouldn't be swept away by the waterfall's current, and then allowed Bing Yue to enter the Star Bead.
Next, Zhengyang took out a few spirit crystals and set up a simple attack formation nearby. Holding the final spirit crystal, he approached the Star Bead. He launched the crystal, and it landed precisely within the formation.
In an instant, all the spirit crystals transformed into a fierce energy, sending a beam of white light skyward, colliding with the grand formation above. A startling scene unfolded.
What was once a serene, almost ethereal world suddenly transformed. The sky filled with a chaotic mix of malevolent energy, lightning, wind, and fire, pouring down like a torrential rain. The ground was equally restless, with various attacks shooting upward.
It was clear that in the next moment, all these forces would erupt even more violently, obliterating anything that didn't belong to this world.
Woo Zhengyang was eager to witness the grand spectacle, but he knew that if he dared to look, it would likely be the last thing he'd ever see. With a thought, he entered the Star Bead and activated its strongest defenses, just in case.
He had no idea how long the assault outside would last. After spending a day and a night inside with Bing Yue, they cautiously deactivated the Star Bead's defenses to assess the situation.
Even without seeing it, the continuous booming and explosive sounds from outside were enough to leave Woo Zhengyang in awe. Three days passed, and the thunderous noise showed no signs of abating. Both Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue were on edge, realizing that if they were outside, they'd likely be obliterated.
After seven days, the intensity of the attack finally began to wane. Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue were left speechless by the sheer ferocity of it all. Whoever set up this place was ruthless. It wouldn't matter if a hundred or even a thousand warriors entered; they'd all be doomed.
Even with something akin to the Array Origin Bead, survival seemed impossible. Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue's escape was largely due to luck. Without the Array Origin Bead and Bing Yue's insight that led Woo Zhengyang to the critical realization, they wouldn't have found that sliver of hope in what seemed like a certain death scenario.
After nine days and nights, the attacks outside finally ceased. Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue still hadn't emerged. Though the noise had stopped, no one could be sure of the situation outside. Even if the attacks had ended, the residual effects could still seriously injure or even kill them.
Woo Zhengyang controlled an armored bull, sending it out only to retrieve a pile of minced meat in less than a heartbeat. Three more days passed, and the danger outside finally subsided. Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue reappeared at their previous spot. The blue sky, white clouds, green mountains, and flowing water, along with the waterfall before them, remained unchanged. However, the once-abundant energy in this world had thinned to the point of being nearly undetectable.
Woo Zhengyang took out the Array Origin Bead again, finding that although all the formations were still functioning, they were operating at an extremely slow pace. At this speed, Woo Zhengyang quickly identified the gaps between these formations and led Bing Yue in the opposite direction.
“Where are we going?” Bing Yue asked.
“We're leaving!” Woo Zhengyang replied. He no longer wanted to explore the mysteries of this ancient tomb. The creator of this place wielded immense power, and if the entrance was this perilous, who knew what greater dangers lay ahead? Woo Zhengyang was proud but not foolish enough to ignore the vast difference in power between them and their adversary. This was not a place he and Bing Yue could safely explore.
Additionally, even without the recent terrifying experience, Woo Zhengyang was already considering giving up. Ever since Bing Yue speculated that this place was a meticulously crafted mausoleum by a legendary figure for their beloved, Woo Zhengyang felt a sense of retreat. The ability to create such a breathtaking resting place for a loved one not only demonstrated the builder's immense power but also revealed the depth of their affection. Woo Zhengyang couldn't help but feel a deep respect for such a person.
Thus, after Woo Zhengyang managed to break through the entrance formation of this mausoleum, he planned to leave with Bing Yue. As the scenery shifted, the stunning world vanished, replaced by a dim void. Woo Zhengyang realized they had reached the entrance of the mausoleum.
However, when Woo Zhengyang took out the Array Origin Bead, he was dumbfounded! The formations here were even more numerous than in the previous world. Most importantly, there were no mountains, rivers, flowers, or grass to worry about, allowing the person who set up the formations to have fewer concerns. All the formations were deadly traps. Smaller formations were intricately linked, forming a larger deadly formation. Beyond the large formation, there were many others reflecting off each other.
Layer upon layer, even with the power of the Array Origin Bead, Woo Zhengyang couldn't discern how many layers of formations were laid here, let alone find any flaws to break through them.
Without any hesitation, Woo Zhengyang turned around with Bing Yue and left, returning to the lush, green world they had come from.
“What’s going on?” Bing Yue asked, puzzled.
“This time, I’m afraid we have no choice but to go deeper!” Woo Zhengyang replied helplessly.
Whether it was luck or misfortune for Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue, they happened to enter this vibrant world from above. Earlier, Woo Zhengyang thought this world was incredibly powerful, as the spot they entered was already so perilous. Now he realized he was mistaken.
The strength of this world exceeded their imagination, especially at the entrance of this cemetery, which was surrounded by countless deadly traps. That was the true entrance to the cemetery.
Woo Zhengyang and Bing Yue were lucky they didn’t land there when they arrived; otherwise, they would have been doomed. Unfortunately, if they wanted to leave this cemetery now, they had to pass through that entrance—a path that seemed certain to lead to death...
