C8 Killing Chi Yangzi

How could a mere mortal possess such a priceless artifact?

Lost in thought, a shadow suddenly plummeted from the sky, reaching for the box that held the ginseng. Had Feng Yimo not possessed his Divine Sense, the thief would have surely succeeded. But Yimo was unflappable in the face of danger. Clutching the large box with his left hand and pressing firmly against a rock with his right, he propelled himself backward several meters, narrowly evading the assailant's grasp. The attacker was none other than Chi Yangzi from the Yin-yang Sect, who had been causing trouble for him.

"So, you've been senselessly slaughtering the innocent because you covet their treasures? Despicable! You've completely tarnished the reputation of cultivators. Hand over the treasure now!" Chi Yangzi's hair and beard bristled with fury, his arrogant demeanor unmistakable. Yet, his eyes remained fixated on the human-shaped ginseng, his avarice on full display. He could barely contain his delight, "To think my training would lead me to such a treasure! This ginseng must be at least 900 years old. It's on the verge of a full human transformation, which means its medicinal properties could double. If I nurture it for a few more decades, could it not become a Level 3 spirit medicine? Then..." The more he fantasized, the more elated he became. Level 3 spirit medicines were scarce within the entire sect. Even if he didn't use it himself, surrendering it to the sect would earn him a wealth of contribution points and resources. It might even serve as a tribute to gain the favor of an elder! This treasure was a must-have.

Feng Yimo, seeing the covetous gaze Chi Yangzi cast upon the human-shaped ginseng in his grasp, understood his intentions all too well. He scoffed dismissively and, without a word, turned on his heel and fled. The brief respite had fully restored his vitality, erasing all traces of fatigue. The benefits of the blood energy fruit were not to be underestimated. Though the Spirit Devouring Silkworm had absorbed most of his spiritual energy, the physical enhancements were undeniable. His legs, strong and vigorous, carried him ten feet in a single bound. Swift as a darting rabbit, he vanished into the thicket in the blink of an eye.

Chi Yangzi was taken aback and burst into laughter. A novice who had barely scratched the surface of the Qi Training Period thought he could flee from him? The audacity was laughable. With composed ease, Chi Yangzi summoned his flying sword, mounted it, and pursued at a leisurely pace. He intended to toy with the young man before him, like a hunter with his prey, curious to see how long it would take to exhaust him to death.

Feng Yimo, on the other hand, was in a frenzied dash for freedom. Leveraging his potent Divine Sense, he deliberately chose the most treacherous paths for his escape. The night forest echoed with the howling mountain winds and the stirrings of wild beasts. Twice he slipped past wolf packs undetected, but Chi Yangzi wasn't so lucky. The wolves bayed at him as he soared above, and in a fit of pique, Chi Yangzi dispatched several light blades, cleaving more than a dozen wolves in two, before resuming his relentless pursuit of Feng Yimo.

After an hour of desperate running, Feng Yimo's strength was waning. If only he had his spirit energy, he could have utilized the Wind Teleportation Technique to evade Chi Yangzi's chase. But now, relying solely on his legs, escape seemed impossible. Gritting his teeth, he snapped off an arm of the human-shaped ginseng he carried and shoved it into his mouth, chewing and swallowing voraciously. The bitter and sweet flavors infused with potent spiritual energy surged through his meridians, invigorating him. Activating the Wind Teleportation Technique, he transformed into a blur of green, leaping dozens of feet at a time, his speed multiplying exponentially.

"Eh? What happened? Where did he go?" Chi Yangzi, gliding on his sword, was baffled when he lost sight of the young man he'd been tailing. Hastily, he formed a hand seal and, with his index and middle fingers together, anointed his eyes to grant himself night vision. Only then did he spot a vague silhouette over two hundred yards away, which took him by surprise. He stamped his foot on the flying sword, accelerating its flight.

The chase intensified Chi Yangzi's alarm. Even at nearly full speed, he was barely keeping pace with the young man who was running on foot. Could it be that this individual possessed an exceptional body refining technique and was a physical cultivator? With this thought, he pushed his speed to the limit, flying all out until he finally overtook the young man and descended, blocking his path.

However, when he noticed the half-strand of ginseng whisker still dangling from the corner of the young man's mouth, he flew into a rage. "You, you scoundrel, you actually ate the ginseng raw! You've squandered a treasure, squandered it!" Chi Yangzi let out a long sigh, his expression turning fierce as he advanced toward Feng Yimo. "You've just consumed it, and the medicinal power hasn't fully taken effect. I'm going to refine you into an elixir! Kid, I had intended to spare your life, but you've proven to be ungrateful, devouring my precious ginseng. Resign yourself to your fate!"

Ah? Feng Yimo was dumbfounded. Just because he had eaten a ginseng, the venerable Daoist Chi Yangzi was intent on using him as an ingredient for a spirit pill? This was barbaric; he was being treated as nothing more than a disposable herb! Before he could gather his wits, Chi Yangzi reached out with his right hand, and a massive Spiritual Force Large Hand lunged for him. Feng Yimo hastily backed away, but the hand followed relentlessly. In a swift motion, he grabbed a low-grade spiritual weapon and struck at the Spiritual Force Large Hand!

With a sizzle, the Spiritual Force Large Hand was cleaved in two by the broken sword, dissolving into blue specks of light that vanished into the ether. Feng Yimo was overjoyed, yet Chi Yangzi sneered, "You think you can brandish a low-grade spiritual artifact with such bravado? Absurd! Take my sword!" With that, his flying sword shot through the air, aiming directly for Feng Yimo's head.

In a moment of desperation, Feng Yimo lifted the broken sword to defend himself, only to be sent hurtling backward by the force, smashing through two trees before coming to a halt. As he staggered to his feet, his face flushed red, and he vomited a mouthful of blood. The sword in his hand was now riddled with cracks, and with a series of sharp snaps, it shattered into countless pieces, leaving only the hilt in his grasp.

Discarding the hilt, Feng Yimo wiped the blood from his mouth and stared down Chi Yangzi, who was approaching slowly. If only he had a fraction of his past life's cultivation, he could easily crush the man before him. But now, stripped of his spiritual power and left with only his physical strength, he was at a disadvantage. What was he to do?

"Don't kill me, please! I still have some ginseng left—I didn't eat it all!" Feng Yimo pleaded, terror etched across his face. He fumbled in his robe and presented half a ginseng root with shaking hands, his fear palpable.

Chi Yangzi's eyes lit up with delight. "You didn't finish it?" He leaped forward, snatching the ginseng from Feng Yimo's grasp. It was indeed half of a human-shaped ginseng, and he burst into hearty laughter. Standing just two feet from Feng Yimo, Chi Yangzi reveled in his regained treasure, oblivious to the impending betrayal. Suddenly, Feng Yimo's expression of horror vanished, replaced by a cold ferocity. He drew a rust-covered long blade from within his robe and thrust it toward Chi Yangzi's chest.

"Die!" Feng Yimo bellowed, seizing what he knew was his final opportunity. At such close range, he was determined to eliminate Chi Yangzi, convinced that possession of the Human-shaped Ginseng wouldn't spare him.

Chi Yangzi scoffed, holding the Human-shaped Ginseng in his left hand while his right palm emitted a green glow. A two-foot square spiritual force shield materialized, intercepting the path of the rusty blade. Chi Yangzi was confident that no mere iron saber could penetrate his spiritual shield, and even if it did, his Level One Superior inner armor would surely protect him.

To his horror, the rusty blade sliced through the spiritual shield as if it were nothing, the sharp edge nearly severing his palm. The blade then met his armor, which crumbled like wet paper. The long saber plunged into his chest and out his back, burying itself to the hilt.
