C3 Twist of Fate

A pregnant woman was rushed into the big private hospital that belongs to Doctor Lee.

The patient goes by the name Lola Stanley and she was found lying helplessly beside the road by an old woman who seems to recognize her. The old woman gave out the name stating that she knew her mother who lives in another city on a farm.

Apart from that much information, she knows nothing more about her and her pregnancy is something new to the old woman.

Doctor Lee had requested the old woman if he could get her contact or how to get her here but she informed that there was no means to contact her unless she returned back home to fetch her.

“Okay ma'am, please make sure her guardian is present here tomorrow morning, I will start the necessary treatment on her right now” He explained.

“Thanks so much doctor, you are such a nice man, I will be entrusting her in your care” the old woman said before heading towards the door with her declining body movements.

Unfortunately,Lola Stanley has lost too much blood because she had hit her tummy on the hard ground it seems. Giving birth on her own was not possible, she will have to undergo a cesarean delivery.

They need any of her guardians signature but there was no one to help her sign the documents.

Lola pleaded to the doctor to go ahead with the operation and promised to sign on it herself.

“ Mrs Stanley, you don't understand....” the doctor tried explaining but Lola cuts him off with a sharp whimper.

“It is Black, I'm married.” she explained amidst her pain.

Now glamcing over the ring on her finger, he corrected his mistake “Im sorry Mrs.Black but the operation is 80/20. Only one of you can survive after the operation” he explained.

A hard blow hits her on hearing this from the doctor, at that moment she wished she hadn't acted so stupid over her mother-in-law’s threat but it was too late now.

“Can I make a call please? I promise I will be brief” she pleaded on seeing the doctor’s unwilling face.

They fulfilled her wish and got her a phone, she dialed Morgan’s number but he didn't pick any of the ringing attempt. It's a business trip so he must be busy.

Lola convinced herself as she hand over the phone- “ Please let my baby live” she announced and the atmosphere went cold, she signed the papers in pain.

The nurses present felt for her but their moment of sympathy ended when the green lines starts to flicker on the life support system.

“We must commence the operation now” Doctor lee said.

ROOM 068

Ria was feeding Ana her food when her stepmother came again asking Ria to excuse them.

She left only after Ana gave a head nod that she will be fine.

“Tsk tsk tsk, what an awful fate you have Ana, I feel for you but guess what?” she said then paused with a proud smirk on her lips.

She said nothing but fixed her gaze on her stepmother to show she's listening.

“I have a better option for you, what if I get you a donor before that two weeks and save your life?”

That was the word, but unfortunately it came out from the wrong source. Ana knew her stepmom would never care for her life unless there is something she wanted in return.

“You don't have all the time in the world Ana, sign over your own share of the properties to me and you will live” She uttered rubbing her hands together like devil herself.

She knew her stepmother to be greedy and would never be satisfied with her 70% despite her having.the lowest share of the properties, she still desires to have it all.

Ana was tired, she could fight against her stepmother all she wants but that can only be possible if she lives, time wasn't on her side.

“You can have it all, just get me a donor Madam Laura” she said softly because it disgust her to address her with her father's pure name. She doesn't deserve it.

She's got no one and life can be so hard for a loner in this world, she isn't weak hearted, she needed to sacrifice things to gain more which she was willing to do.

“I promise to come back for you” she muttered under her breath.

“Good girl, I'll be back with the lawyer and the good news” she caressed Ana’s hair with a smile before leaving the room.

The operation was over and the cry of the beautiful infant filled the theatre but Lola passed during the operation,she was stitched up immediately and the doctor left the operation room.

They took her baby away from the room so her dead body could be taken care of.

The nurse left with her was about to cover her face when the green lines that dropped during the operation picked up again.

“Wow this is incredulous,she made it” the nurse left in the room decided to inform the doctor on seeing this.

Meanwhile,Mrs.Laura is already meeting with her brother to strike a deal with him.

She overheard their discussion with the old woman earlier and when they had printed out her result that the pregnant woman might not survive.

Being the vicious thinker she was,she came up with a plan immediately.

“Get me her heart,she’s got no family anyway” she said the word devoid of emotions.

Doctor was stunned to hear such thing from her sister but the same blood runs in their veins and money is everything to them.

“I promise you 20% of the family share” she threw the bait sitting straight with pride in her posture.

“Her body is lying dead in the operation room,we can do the transplant today” he stuttered pretending not to be tempted with the money offered to him.

“What if the patient’s mother...” he whined but Mrs.Laura cuts him off.

“Stop acting as if this will be your first dirty work in this hospital Lee,deal or no deal” she questioned.

After a long silence, his voice came “Deal” he agreed.
