C2 2

She was a woman who existed only in whispers and rumors. Now, on the brink of divorce, there was even less reason to let anyone see what she looked like. She understood. Bo Xingzhi momentarily lost his composure at the sight of Ruan Su's calm expression. He had always known their marriage was different from other people's. When they married, they signed a contract. They agreed not to interfere in each other's lives. Ruan Su played the role of his wealthy wife, and he bought her handbags, clothes, and jewelry. Anything involving money was never a problem. She cooperated with him, putting on a show of affection in front of his grandfather. He had met her at the hospital entrance in a pouring rain. She stood there in the rain, expressionless, and asked, "Is anyone willing to marry me?" People hurried past and treated her like she was crazy. He did not know why Ruan Su did it, and he had no interest in finding out. He only knew he urgently needed a wife, and she looked acceptable to him. He never expected the marriage would last four years, until his grandfather died last week and the act they had kept up for four years finally ended. His grandfather's death hit him hard, and it took a full week before the funeral could be held. Even now, whenever he thought of his grandfather's face and voice, a dull pain pulsed in his chest. In those four years, the two of them were no different from an ordinary couple. He was busy and usually only came to spend the night at River Pine Villa on weekends. She always waited for him, obedient and proper, never complaining when he came and went. Before Bo Xingzhi left, Ruan Su rose onto her tiptoes to straighten his collar and said, "Goodbye, husband." The man lowered his gaze, the corners of his lips lifting in a smile, his voice deep and magnetic. "Be good at the wake." "Okay, I understand," Ruan Su said with a nod, watching him leave. They looked like a couple deeply in love, nothing like people about to divorce. After she saw him get into the black Bentley, Ruan Su turned and closed the door. The gentle, obedient expression vanished at once, replaced by a cool detachment. Her delicate, stunning face seemed covered in a layer of frost.

She seemed to have become a completely different person. With an impassive face, she gathered her things and stepped out into the day. Sometime unnoticed, a fine rain had begun to fall. At Nanshan Cemetery, the grass was lush and soft underfoot, and the entire expanse of Nanshan Hill was shrouded in a veil of rain, giving it an ethereal, almost surreal quality. Old Master Bo's final resting place was here, amidst the beauty and tranquility. The funeral was a modest affair, attended mostly by relatives and friends of the Bo family, along with a few business associates. The white lilies, washed by the rain, appeared even more pristine. Bouquet after bouquet surrounded the tombstone, as far as the eye could see. Ruan Su stepped out of the car, holding a black umbrella, and approached the gathering. Her gaze fell on Bo Xingzhi, the man in the impeccably tailored black suit, his posture rigid, his lips a tight line. His striking features were etched with grief, his eyes rimmed with red, as he stood silently at the very front of the crowd. She knew his bond with Old Master Bo was profound, having been raised by the man himself. Ruan Su moved forward, bending to offer her respects. As she looked at Old Master Bo's photograph on the tombstone, she inhaled deeply and gently laid the lilies she held before it. And with that, a life had come to an end. She truly despised these places, this atmosphere, and she loathed the idea of anyone leaving her side. A hint of resignation and sorrow lingered in her eyes; Old Master Bo had been genuinely kind to her, cherishing her as though she were his own granddaughter. Suddenly, she knelt, the dampness of the rain seeping through, and gave three resounding kowtows to the cold tombstone of Old Master Bo.
