Jiang Xinyu murmured to himself, "That's true." Ruan Su had just returned to her room and was about to take a shower when her phone rang. It was Bo Xingzhi calling. "Hello." His voice, cool and slightly irritated, came through. "Where have you been? Why aren't you home yet?" Ruan Su was taken aback. "Didn't we agree to a divorce?" Why was he calling her, and urging her to come home, no less? It wasn't even the weekend. What was he doing at River Pine Villa? "I haven't signed the papers yet, so it's not official." Bo Xingzhi frowned, recalling what his assistant, Soong Yan, had told him. Why could this woman be so decisive and nonchalant? He had headed straight back here after work, without a second thought, only to find that the usual welcoming light was off. The house was chilly and empty without Ruan Su. She had simply walked out on him. Ruan Su fought back her impatience, adopting a tender tone. "Darling, I've already signed them. Remember, you're the one who wanted this divorce." If she confronted him, who knew if Bo Xingzhi, ever unpredictable, might suddenly decide not to go through with the divorce? Then she'd be back to square one, trying to find a way out of the marriage. She was far too busy to engage in Chairman Bo's on-again, off-again marital games. "Be a good girl and come back, okay?" Bo Xingzhi stood by the window, gazing out at the myriad lights. He sounded almost like a concerned husband waiting for his wife to come home late at night. Ruan Su inhaled deeply. "All right. Give me half an hour." Descending the stairs, Ruan Su's demeanor was frosty and intimidating, her presence warning others to keep their distance. The men in black, upon seeing her face, broke out in a cold sweat. They mustered up the courage to ask, "Boss, where are you headed?" "Take me to River Pine Villa," Ruan Su commanded icily, struggling to contain the tempest within.
"Shut up!" Ruan Su seethed, wishing she could blast Bo Xingzhi with a gun, and redirected her fury at Jiang Xinyu. "Go to the training room and shoot at the target 100 times. If you don't finish, you don't sleep."
"Boss," Jiang Xinyu wailed, sounding utterly miserable.
The slender woman slammed the door of her Land Rover and sped off, leaving a trail of dust behind her. The Land Rover tore down the road at breakneck speed. The two men in black in the backseat were terrified, their faces turning ghostly white. "Boss. Boss."
"Ah!"
"Slow down."
They had heard that only the brave dared ride with the boss, and now they understood why as nausea churned in their stomachs. Ruan Su sat stone-faced behind the wheel, her clear almond-shaped eyes locked on the road ahead. Her fingers moved with practiced ease as she worked the steering wheel, hit the gas, and cut past other cars in one smooth sequence. Even as their stomachs threatened to revolt, they could not deny it. The boss looked terrifyingly impressive when she drove like this.
