C6 6

Tired of enduring the presence of two towering men, she clicked her high heels across the pavement and into the neighborhood. River Pine Villa was renowned as a luxury residential area, home to the wealthy and distinguished. Each villa here could fetch tens of millions. Yet for Ruan Su, the place held no allure. She had no desire to return, but after verifying her identity with a touch to the lock, she entered and saw Bo Xingzhi seated on the couch, a laptop resting on his knees. He looked up at the sound of her arrival. "Where have you been?"

"Um, I spent the whole day house hunting," Ruan Su fibbed. They were on the brink of divorce, and where she went or what she did was of no consequence to him. He had not shown any interest in the past four years, and that was unlikely to change.

"Are you sure you do not want to keep this villa?" Bo Xingzhi shut his laptop and gestured for her to come closer. Ruan Su blinked, adopting a soft and endearing demeanor as she approached him. Before she could utter a word, he swiftly pulled her onto his lap and into his embrace. With a flirtatious gaze, Ruan Su encircled his slender neck with her arms and responded decisively, "I do not want it."

"Did not you say you were looking for a house?" His prominent nose gently nudged her hair. "If you take this one, you will not have to search anymore."

"I am too lazy. This place is too large. I cannot afford to hire someone to clean it," Ruan Su said, her smile reaching her eyes. Watching her easy smile, Bo Xingzhi could not resist commenting, "Do not you think you are shortchanging yourself by not wanting anything?"

"In the past four years, you have never fought with me or treated me poorly. I have always had the best of everything," Ruan Su said, her gaze clear. "So why would I feel shortchanged?"

Regardless of the occasion, he always presented gifts, much like ancient monarchs doting on their consorts, choosing only the most exquisite, limited-edition, and lavish items. Though devoid of love, their mutual respect was impeccably demonstrated. Bo Xingzhi wrapped his arms around Ruan Su. "Do you truly feel nothing for me? Stay by my side, and you can have anything you desire at the snap of your fingers."

Ruan Su seemed to want for nothing. Throughout their four-year marriage, she had never once demanded a car, a house, or money from him, unlike other women. As Bo Xingzhi drew close with affection, she curled up compliantly in his broad embrace, her eyes lazily half-closed, like a pampered cat. For her, the marriage had been a lifeline. It had sustained her for four years, but now it was time to let go. She was not one of those women who clamored for money or love; all she sought was to survive. As Bo Xingzhi had pointed out, since they were headed for divorce, they might as well savor the moments they had left together. With that thought, Ruan Su arched an eyebrow and flashed him an alluring smile. The crisp late-autumn morning air carried a slight chill, fresh and invigorating. Ruan Su's eyes fluttered open. The warmth of the man's breath brushed her ear, and she lazily pushed him away, her voice rough with sleep. "Quit it." "Good girl," Bo Xingzhi said, his large hand closing around hers, his dark eyes shimmering with a dangerous allure. He was strikingly handsome, a rarity among men, with a prominent nose and narrow, icy phoenix eyes that exuded an innate aristocracy. She murmured, "But I'm exhausted." "That's exactly why you need more exercise to build up your stamina," he replied with a low laugh, tilting her chin up, his captivating gaze laced with mischief. When Ruan Su next awoke, it was well past 1:00 p.m.
