C30 After the incident

"She would be taken to my Mom and Papa to live in their house with them but they would die and my brother would reject her. Everyone would not want to associate with her." Dinna continued saying.

I pulled her close to myself.

"Nothing would happen to her. Nothing would happen to our Chira." I said.

Dinna nodded her head as she hid her face placed her head on my chest.

I looked at her and raised her head up.

"Don't worry." I said to her.

"Mama, nothing is going to happen to you and no one is going to die." Chira said looking at Dinna.

Dinna stretched out her hand for a hug to Chira. Chira ran into her mother's arm and cleaned the tears that were dropping down Dinna's face.

"Mama don't cry." Chira said and Dinna wiped her face of the tears that were coming out.

"My Baby, I love you so much and I don't want anything bad to happen to you." Dinna said and pecked Chira's forehead.

"Mama, nothing is going to happen to me." Chira said. "I promise."

"The gods would protect Chira for us." I said.

Dinna laughed and said Yes.

We later sat down with Chira and we talked about random things.

Chira got up few minutes later and walked out of our room.

Few minutes later someone knocked on the door and Chira welcomed the person in.

I turned to Dinna who looked at me.

"Are you expecting anyone?" I asked her and she shooked her head.

"No one. I'm expecting no one." Dinna said and I looked at Chira as she conversed with the man.

Dinna stood up from where she laid and stood by my back watching as Chira conversed with the man.

Chira later collected an envelope from him and sat on a chair opening the envelope.

The man left the house after some seconds and I walked out of the room and went to Chira's side.

I collected the envelope from her as I looked into the envelope.

Chira turned to look at me.

"Papa, what are you doing?" She asked.

I looked at her and folded my hands when I saw some drawings.

"You have to be careful." I said.

Chira looked at me.

"Papa!" She called me.

Dinna came out of the room and stood at my back.

"What is in here?" She said as she collected the envelope from me and looked into it.

"Who drew that, Chira?" I asked her.

"I drew it myself." She said.

"Then why did he bring it here?" I asked.

"I forgot it in school." Chira said.

"Then how did he get here?" Dinna asked.

"I walk together with him sometimes when going home. He lives some distance from here so he knows where I leave." Chira said.

"Who is he in your school?" I asked.

"He is a new cleaner." Chira said.

I remembered when I use to work as a cleaner in Biyaka school. I smiled looking at Chira and nodded my head.

"Okay." I said looking at Dinna.

"Papa." Chira called pulling my cloth.

"Go have your bath, Chira." I said.

"Papa, you said you would play with me today." Chira said reminding me of the promise I made to her the last day.

"Papa hasn't forgotten." I said to Chira.

"Okay Papa." Chira said as she ran into where she normally have her bath.

Minutes later Chira walked out of her room and looked at Dinna.

"Mama, I want to eat." Chira said.

"Okay Baby." Dinna said.

Dinna left with Chira to the kitchen and they both came out with a tray.

Dinna POV

The tray was heavy and hot so I needed to carry it.

"Mama be careful." Chira said as I took the tray to the table in the living room.

Dolo looked at the tray while he sat on the chair.

"What are we going to have as breakfast this morning?" Dolo asked smiling as he took a plate from the tray and took off the cover.

He breathe in.

"Wow, this is what I would like to have now." He said rubbing his stomach.

He took another glance into the plate.

"This is nice." He said.

I had prepared rice and added some Vegetables to it.

Dolo picked his spoon and steered a little part of the rice mixing it with the vegetable.

He moaned as he ate the rice.

Chira sat on a chair and took out a small tray then placed her plate on it. She started eating her rice.

I looked at my family and smiled.

I turned and went into the room. I held up a fan and cooled myself with it before brushing my teeth.

I went out to join my family after some time. I sat on a chair and took out all the cups that were in the tray and poured water into them. I handed one cup each to Chira and Dolo then I held unto the last cup and poured myself some water.

I sipped a little bit of the water then took my plate from the tray and started eating my food.

"This is great." I heard Dolo say and I smiled.

After eating I packed all the plates on the tray and Chira carried the tray and took it to the kitchen.

Chira came out of the kitchen to the living room after she had taken the plates into the kitchen and sat down on the chair she had sat on before she left to the kitchen.

We all sat looking into empty space.

Dolo later stood up and went into the room. I stood up and followed Dolo into the room. I put my hands around Dolo's waist.

Dolo smiled as he held my hands which were wrapped around his waist.

He turned to me and pecked me on my forehead.

" You are the best woman a man can ever have." He said and I smiled.

"I am very lucky to have you as my wife." He said.

"I am also lucky to have you as my husband." I said and pecked him on his lip.

He held me close to himself.

"Close your eyes." He said.

I closed my eyes and after some minutes he told me to open my eyes which I did.

He pointed to the window side and I looked at it.

"It's beautiful." I said covering my mouth.
