C9 Internship and He's Back

Abbigayle's POV

This is it! Today is the day. I woke up early since today is the start of our internship. I took a bath earlier than usual. I was already wearing a towel and was heading towards my room when the penthouse’s door suddenly opened. I was shocked that someone came in without even knocking but what surprised me more was when I saw who entered. It was Ethan! Klaress’ older brother Ethan! I panicked at the thought that he saw me wearing only my towels with very wet hair.

“Oh my GOOOOOD!” I shouted at the top of my lungs.

“What are you doing here?!” We said at the same time.

“What? What do you mean what am I doing here? I own this place.” He said smirking.

I was caught off guard at what he just said. Yes, they do own this place what a dumbass Abby.

“I mean, I thought you were not here. I thought you were abroad.” I said.

“Yes, I was.” He said and I can’t help but notice how his eyes traveled from my feet towards my chest. Oh, boys! “But now I’m back.”

“Ab? What’s wrong?” Klaress went out of her room and she looked like she just came out of the shower also.

“Klar? So, what are you two doing in here?” Ethan said.

“Oh my God! You’re back already! I’m sorry bro but can we fix ourselves first and we’ll talk after?” she said.

“Of course, go ahead.” He said and he sat down on the living room’s sofa. “I’ll just wait here.”

Klaress and I went to our rooms and changed into our intern uniforms. What the hell! What is he doing in here? Why is he back already? Oh my God! What do I do? This is the first time that I saw him after I kissed him that night. Maybe, he forgot about the kiss already. That’s right! I acted calm and I went out of my room. I saw that Klaress and Ethan were already in the living room.

“You two look good in that uniform.” He said and he winked at me.

“Will you stop winking? Is there something wrong with your eyes?” I said.

“My eyes are perfectly fine Gayle. They just saw something interesting this very morning.” He said as if implying the scene earlier.

GAYLE. He’s the only one who calls me that. He said he doesn’t like Abby because that’s what everybody calls me and he doesn’t want to be just like everybody.

“So, why are you here?” Klaress asked her brother.

“Well, I didn’t know that you were here. I used to live here before studying abroad, remember?” He said.

“Well, you can’t stay here now because Abby and I will be staying here.” She said. “It was Mom and Dad’s idea.”

“I wasn’t informed. So where do you suggest I stay?” he said.

“Actually, it’s okay. You can stay here. I’ll just go back to my apartment.” I said.

“No, that’s not happening Ab.” Klaress said.

“Yeah, I won’t allow you to go back to that crappy apartment. You can stay. I’ll just stay at my condo.” He said.

“No, it’s really fine with me. Actually, I can move my things today.” I said. “I don’t want to interfere with you guys.”

“Are you kidding me? You have an internship that will start today and as your boss, I don’t want you to be late.” He told me.

“Our boss? You?” Klaress sounded so shocked.

“Yes, I will be your boss. Dad is retiring anytime soon. He actually wants to have a party in celebration of his retirement a few weeks from now.” He said.

“Oh wow. What a great boss we will have Abby.” Klaress said while laughing.

“Hey don’t you laugh at me! I won’t go easy on you.” He said and we all laughed. It somehow lessened the tension that I felt.

“I know you will. You’ll probably just allow us to sit all day long.” Klar said. “Don’t worry though, Abby and I will work hard so we will do our best to be of use to your reputable hotel.”

“Let’s see about that.” He said shaking his head.

“Ab? Are you alright?” Klaress asked me.

“Yes, I’m good,” I said.

“Maybe you’re just nervous.” Ethan said while looking at me. I don’t know but his looks are making me feel uneasy.

“It’s alright. Everything’s gonna be okay.” Klaress said. “Let’s go? We don’t wanna be late.”

“Alright. Let’s go.” I said.

“We’ll go ahead, bro. We have to be early on our first day.” Klaress said.

“Yeah, I’ll walk with you outside since I’m already leaving too.” He said.

“Okay. Let’s head out now.” Klaress said.

We went out of the unit and onto the elevator. I was beside Ethan and Klaress. I felt so tensed and nervous and I don’t think it’s because of the internship. I’m guessing it’s because of Ethan. Oh my God! What if he still remembered that kiss? Oh my God! I’m so done. How can I work when every time I do I see him? He will be my boss soon. How unfortunate! I thought of the way I kissed him that night. I don’t know if it was even a good kiss. I laughed at that thought.

“What’s funny?” Ethan asked me.

“Oh, nothing.” I said.

“I was sure you laughed there miss. I’m curious about what you were thinking a few seconds ago.” He said.

“Well, I just remembered something funny that’s all.” I said.

“Was that about a girl who kissed a guy at his sendoff party?” he said.

“Whaaat?” I said but he just winked at me.

The elevator door opens and the two employees outside the door are shocked to see Klaress and Ethan.

“Good morning ma'am. Good morning sir.” They said in unison.

The two just nodded at them and continued walking.

“Okay, guys. Good luck on your first day. Don’t attract too many boys Gayle.” He said and winked at me.

“Bro stop it. You’re grossing me out. Abby is like our sister.” Klaress said.

“Stop it, Klar. You’re making her blush and she’s not my sister.” He said and smiled at me.

“Whaaat? I’m not blushing.” I said. What’s wrong with this guy? Urgh.

“Okay, if you say so.” He said as if he wasn’t convinced.

“Really, I’m not.” I said to convince him and Klaress.

‘Okay, okay. Don’t be too defensive, babe.” He said and winked at me again. Seriously, what’s with the winking thing?

“Urgggh stop it.” I said and I walked out of their sight and entered the HR office.

I heard Ethan’s laugh followed by Klaress’ voice telling him to leave me alone. A few seconds after, Klaress came inside the HR and sat beside me while waiting for our orientation.

“My brother is an ass.” She said.

“Yes, he is. There is no doubt about that.” I said and laughed a little.

He remembered the kiss! How could he bring it up now after not contacting me for more than two years? He’s such a jerk. What do I do now? Should I stay away from him or should I pretend that I forgot about it already?

“What’s up with you and Ethan?” Klaress asked me.

“What? Why?” I asked.

“Never mind I just thought something is going on.” She said.

“It’s probably nothing I was just shocked that he’s here already.” I said.

“Yeah me too. Well, he finished his master’s degree already so he got back to manage our businesses.” She said.

“Are you guys ready? I’ll just orient you for a while before you start with your works.” The HR head said. “Anyways, Ms. Ledesma do you have somewhere in your mind that you wanted to be assigned to?”

“No Sir, I’ll do whatever it is that you’ll tell me,” Klaress said. “I don’t want to be unfair to Abby and the hotel so wherever is fine with me.”

“Alright, if that’s what you want then.” He said. “So here is the schedule of your internships as well as your assigned tasks.” He said as he handed us a piece of paper. “You will have your internship for three months that’s until you graduate, right? You need to pass this internship to graduate. I assume that it would be easy for you since you don’t have any back subjects and this is the only units you need until you graduate, right?”

“Yes sir. This is our last requirement for graduation.” I said.

“Very well then, this should be easy for both of you as you are well trained by your respective institution. If you have any problem with your schedule, just look for the hotel’s manager and he’ll attend to your needs. Are we clear?” he said.

“Yes sir.” Klaress said.

“Okay then. I’ll bring you to your posts and since this is your first day I will pair you up with one of our staff to train you.” He said. “Let’s go.”

“Ms. Abbigayle Jimenez this is your assignment for your first three weeks, you’re area will be from the lobby up to the 20th floor. This is Sam, she’s in charge of the staff in the areas that you will be assigned and she will guide you. If you have more questions please feel free to ask her and she will be more than delightful to comply.” I smiled at Ms. Sam and she smiled back at me. I’m glad that she’s friendly. She's young too.

“Hi.” I said and she just smiled at me. Well, I guess this assignment isn’t bad after all.

“We’ll leave you here.” The HR head said. “Ms. Ledesma, please follow me.”

“I’ll see you later.” Klaress said.

“Yes, see you.” I said.

They went to the elevator and I was left with Ms. Sam alone.

“Shall we start? Let’s think of this as hands-on training. You will be my assistant for today so you’ll learn what your job will be.” She said.

“Sure Miss.” I said.

“Do you have any questions?” She said.

“No, none so far.” I said.

We went on with our day and for my first assignment I will be at sanitation and hygiene. This is I think the most tiring place to be assigned at a hotel. You have to clean rooms and change bed sheets for the new occupants to be comfortable. You also have to make sure that everything in a room is perfect before leaving it and proceeding to another room.

For the next weeks, I will be assigned at the front desk where I will be receiving customers as well as their inquiries. On my last week, I will be assigned at the accounting, strategy and operation sections where I will be able to learn how it is to manage a hotel and compute its expenses.

Ethan’s POV

I inhaled deeply as I went out of the airport. I finished my studies and now I’m back to manage our business anytime soon since Dad wants to retire already. I was so eager to get to my penthouse, our hotel’s top floor. I am back for good and this time I won’t waste time and I’ll immediately tell Abby how I fell for her. Even after two years, I still feel the same for her. It never changed. I just hope she still feels the same towards me. Although I know that she didn’t have any boyfriends while I’m gone just as Klaress told me. I always call Klaress when I know that they’re not together because I might go home whenever I see Abby’s angelic face. That’s how much she affects me.

I opened the door with my keys since I don’t have the card with me. I was shocked when the first thing I saw at my suit was a girl in her towels and not just any girl. I looked at her from head to foot and I swear I felt like something is happening to my body. I feel so hot. Why is she here? Why is she taking a bath? Is she here with some guy? Oh my God! I am gonna fucking kill this guy. I’m gonna kill this guy whoever he is!

I heard Klaress’ voice and I thanked heavens that I did. I was about to go furious with whoever Abby is with. I’m glad it was a false alarm because I don’t know what to do if she’s seeing someone at a hotel.

They changed into their uniform as interns and I couldn’t help but notice how Abby looks so perfect in those skirts although I think it’s too short that it exposes too much of her legs.

“Don’t you think your skirts are a little too short?” I asked them when we were getting out of the penthouse.

“It’s not. It’s even longer than the other employee’s skirts here.” Klaress said.

“It just shows too much skin. I don’t like it.” I said. “I don’t think it’s appropriate for interns like you.”

“Well, if you don’t like it just don’t look at it,” Abby said. “That’s so simple.”

“Nah, I like looking at it,” I said. “You’re still the same old Abby, always wants to argue with me.”

“Whatever you say.” She said.

“Stop it you two. You just met again after two years but you’re starting to “kill” each other.” Klaress said while laughing. “Give yourselves a break.”

We were inside the elevator right after we left the penthouse when I heard her laugh a little. Even her laugh is so admirable. I couldn’t control myself and asked her what she was laughing at. Her eyes grew wide and her cheeks turned pink when I mentioned something about her kiss to me. She walked out on me again and I lost count of how many times she has done that already. She still didn’t change a bit. Well, I’m immune to Abby’s walkout sessions already. I laughed at the thought.

This is what I like the most about Abby. She’s not pretentious. She’s not like the girls I’ve dated before who kneels to me and do whatever I say. She has her own mind and doesn’t need to be ordered by someone. Most of all, she has a good heart. She’s been a good friend to Klaress and I couldn’t ask for more from her. She’s like the perfect girl and I couldn’t see anything wrong with her. Maybe she’s really whose meant for me.

I swear to God that this time I am gonna do something towards my feelings for her. I won’t stay out of her life anymore. I will court her and give her what she truly deserves. I will support her in whatever she wants to do in her life. This time, I am gonna get you Gayle. I won’t let you slip once again.
