Veronica's P.O.V

,,Watch your back Veronica, war is only begging!" Her words kept ringing inside my head. Will she try and hurt me? My baby? Will she try to take Felix away from me? So many questions were popping up I was starting to get a headache. My hands were shaky, my palms sweaty. Tears were starting to make an appearance, just like I feared. I couldn't be weak. Not now. My loved ones and my kingdom needed to be saved from this witch. Who knew what she had in mind by ,,war" and I wasn't planning on taking chances.

As my thoughts ran wild my phone rang. It was Elle-my older sister. The only family I had left and the one who was always there for me, even if from far away. I asked my maid, Maddy, to hand me the phone. Once it was in my hands, I picked it up.

,,Hey Elle! How are you?" I tried to sound like I wasn't about to cry, but she knew. She always knew.

,,What's wrong lil sis? You know I can always tell!" She was right, there was something wrong, but it wasn't anything she could fix.

,,Maddy could you..." I really hoped she would get what I meant and lucky for me she did. She left the room, leaving me on the phone with Elle.

,,Elle, she's mad. Really mad."

,,Who Veronica?"

,,Natalia." I sighed.

,,What did she do to you? I swear queen or not if she even tries touching you I will kick her ass!"

,,I finally told Felix about the baby. He called her in the room since he wanted to let his mother know about her first grandchild, also you know how bad he is with secrets, so we also told her. After I left his room she had sent Asher to call me and I knew she was pissed, but I didn't know how much exactly. She said shit like I was trying to ruin her and Felix's relationship and that I want her power." The tears that were previously stinging my eyes had rolled down my cheeks.

Elle was mad. She hated Natalia even more than I did and she hated how she treated me. If it was anything in this world that could turn my sister from an angel to a monster, it was people mistreating her family. On the day she moved away she even went so far to threaten Felix.

,,Don't worry sis! I'll teach the witch a lesson! Nobody messes with my family!" She declared, emphasizing the word ,,my".

,,Elle, don't you dare do anything! Witch or not she's a queen, a ruthless one, nonetheless. You aren't endangering yourself. If you want to help me you are staying out of this or I won't tell you anything anymore." I warned.

I honestly wanted my sister to go and rip her head off so I could live in peace, but I knew that Elle would be the only one hurt in the process and I couldn't do that to her.

,,Fine" My sister scoffed and I could practically see her rolling her eyes. ,,What do you think she'll do?" She asked, changing the subject.

,,I don't know." I sighed. I really don't know. Natalia was capable of a lot and she won't stop in front of anything, especially when it came to ruling over the kingdom and even her son. I broke down crying. ,,What if she's after my baby? Elle, I'm so scared!" I admitted.

,,Don't show weakness, V! Don't let her know you're scared! There is one thing I don't understand though..."

I already knew where this was going.

,,Why don't you just tell Felix? You know how much he loves you!"

,,I do, but I also know how much he loves his mother! It will break his heart and I can't do that to him! Plus I have no evidence on anything and she's always a step ahead. I'll call you later sis I really can't do this right now!"

,,Ok I love you. Stay safe!"

,,I will! Love you too!"

I hung up and went to look at myself in the floor-length mirror. Eyeing myself, I couldn't help but look at my tummy, where my baby was growing. I placed a hand in front of my tummy and whispered in between sobs:

,,I will protect you no matter what, darling!

I laid back on the bed, feeling exhausted, with red and puffy eyes, from all the crying. I kept repeating the queen's words over and over again, replaying all the scenarios in my head when I heard a knock. I sighed but allowed the person to enter. It was Maddy.

,,Queen Veronica, Sir Nathaniel just came. King Felix was asking if you were ready."

Crap! I had completely forgotten about our date.

,,Not yet Maddy! Tell Nathaniel that I will be coming in about ten minutes."

,,On your orders!"

,,Crap! How will I get ready in ten minutes!'' I thought.

I started applying concealer and foundation to cover my puffy face and eyes, pink eyeshadow, and peach lipstick. I was definitely not feeling like wearing a glamorous look tonight. I brushed my hair and let it gently flow down my shoulders. I quickly went over to the walk-in closet and put on a floor-length pink dress and pink tiara. Just then Felix came in wearing a black tux and surprisingly a pink bow tie to match me.

,,How did you..." I was interrupted. ,,What? Match you? Simple my love." He smirked. ,,I have Maddy as a spy."

,,Is that so?" I matched his smirk with one of my own.

,,Yup." He said popping the ,,p". ,,You look amazing!"

,,You're not so bad yourself" I gently raised myself and plastered my lips on his.

Once he pulled away he took my hand in his.

,,Ready to go, love?"
