C13 Birthday party

“Why is the weird stranger here and what's he doing here”. Alexis thought. As she tried to ignore them, Kelsey called up for her to come over. “Steve this is Alexis,my personal dietitian”. Kelsey introduced.

“Nice to meet you Alexis but I think you kinda look familiar”,Steve asked. “Well I guess I do,we met in the elevator remember”. Steve laughed. “Sure I do,I never forget things though”. Kelsey cleared her throat. “Aah I forgot you are still here Kelsey so back to what we were saying”,Steve said.

Alexis excused herself and sat at the far corner of the hall. “Well that was weird,why was my heart beating literally fast when we shook hands”. Alexis thought. Alexis was startled by someone clearing his throat.

“Mind if I join you pretty lady”,an unknown man asked Alexis. “Not really, have a seat”. Alexis replied. “You seem to be lost in your thoughts when I stood here for a while, mind if you share with me”, the stranger asked. “Oh it's nothing really but do you know when this damn party will commence”. Alexis asked. The stranger laughed. “Very soon,seems you are in a hurry”, the stranger questioned. “You could say so”. Alexis giggled.

“Well I'm Matthew, a business man like Kelvin, the birthday guy”he laughed. Alexis giggled and shook hands with him. “I'm Alexis by the way and it was nice meeting you here. I was kinda bored sitting here alone all by myself”. She smiled. “That's understandable”. Matthew replied.

“Well ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you all to one of my birthday parties, thanks for all the support, love and care. I really appreciate y'all but let the party begin”. Kelvin spoke to the crowd. The room erupted with cheers. Soon it was time for a dance. “May I ”, Matthew requested for a dance with Alexis while he bowed his head. Alexis giggled.

“Yes sir”. They danced and talked for a while. Meanwhile Kelsey was dancing with Steve just right beside them.It was time for switching partners when the music changed. Kelsey swapped with Alexis.

As Alexis was dancing with Steve, she kept stealing glances at him. “I can see that”, Steve whispered into her ears. She blushed. “You're pretty good at dancing for a doctor”,Steve said surprised. “I guess doctors too have a personal life”. Alexis scoffed. “Why so serious?”. Steve asked. Alexis giggled. “Just answered a question”. Steve was fascinated with her enthusiasm.

Little did they know their actions went noticed by Kelsey and she was fuming with anger. She didn't realize the countless times she stepped on Matthew's shoes with her heels. “Hey". Matthew whispered. “You look kinda provoked, I'm I the cause”,he asked. Kelsey scoffed. “You kept stepping on my shoes and you still are”. Matthew said. “Oh sorry I wasn't paying attention but can you excuse me please, I need to visit the washroom”.

A little while after Kelsey left, the danced stopped and it was resumed with the cutting of cake and toasting of champagne. Meanwhile Kelsey was angered and thought “Alexis just wait and see,I will let this slide this time but Steve is mine and mine only and no one can get in my way not even you.”

The party soon ended but Alexis had to walk since Kelsey left with Nora before the party ended. She walked for a while now and since the party was held at a residential area,there were no cabs passing by so she had to walk for a while before reaching the bus station.

Thunders and lightning erupted while she walked. Soon it started raining. “Just great,just my bad luck ”. Alexis said while stomping her teeth. She was startled when a car came to a halt beside her. She sped up walking without glancing to know who it was.

Steve rolled his car windows. “Mind if I drop you at home”,he asked Alexis. She stopped in her tracks. “Thanks for the concern but I'm already wet and I will soak your car seat if you give me a ride”, she replied. “I don't mind”. Steve replied. “Well thank you then”. She said as she sat in the passenger seat. “Block 229,Street 5 Martinson's street,thank you”. Alexis said. Steve smiled.

As they reached her apartment, she got down thanked Steve and sped up to her room. “A hot shower will do”,she thought. After filling the bath tub with warm water, she got in feeling how it relaxed her muscles. She soon got out from the bath tub as sleep consumed her.

Unbeknownst to her, she had left her watch in Steve's car. Steve picked up the watch and smiled. “Guess we will meet again pretty lady",he thought and sped off home
