C15 Meeting the client

Today was a busy day as usual. Alexis had gone to the hospital early in the morning. “Hey Alexis may I come in”. Dr Shan said while popping his head through the door of Alexis' office. “Yh sure I'm free I guess since no patient is in”. Alexis said while Dr Shan settled down on the chair. “I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for everything you did for Kelsey and for keeping it a secret for me”. “Dr Shan come on,you know you are like a father to me and I was just doing my job. I'm just glad I could be of help”. Alexis smiled.

“Ok let me leave you to attend to your work,I will take my leave then. It was a pleasure talking to you. Welcome back Alexis”. Dr Shan smiled. “Thank you Dr Shan. Errmm wait I forgot. I kinda have to go somewhere this afternoon,can I close early than usual”. Dr Shan nodded. After Dr Shan left,Alexis cross-checked all the files of the patients she worked with today.

Finally done checking the time she realized it's an hour before the time schedule Dave gave her. “I might as well use this opportunity to have my lunch on the way before I go there”. She thought. “Hey", Alexis said I she passed by Dan the security. “Hey Alexis I guess you are leaving work than usual. Are you fired”. Dan said with all seriousness. Alexis laughed at Dan's expression. “Is it that bad”,she retorted. “Yes it is,they can't afford to lose a doctor like you because I've studied you for a while now. Although I know I'm always standing here guarding the place. I sometimes see you and you have a good personal relationship with your patients.”. Alexis smiled because she never thought Dan could defend her this much.

“I'm just kidding Dan, I have a day off, I have a place to be now,see you later". Alexis smiled at Dan's expression and sped off to her car.

“Here goes nothing, I could grab my lunch on the way”,she murmured. Alexis checked the time and realized she was forty minutes ahead of time. She stopped by the nearby restaurant. “Hey Miss, how can I help you", the waiter asked as Alexis sat down. “A burger and a coke will do”. Alexis smiled and said. “I will be back in a jiffy". The waiter said and hurried off. “Miss your food is ready and here's your bill”, the waiter said as he placed the food on the table. “You can keep the change”, Alexis said as she passed the money to the waiter. “Thank you miss”, the waiter said. Alexis smiled.

After having the lunch, she realized it's 20 minutes before the scheduled time. “I could reach there before time” she said. Alexis parked her car when she reached there as instructed by the guard. As soon as she got down, the guard stopped her. “Miss do you have a schedule with anyone if I may ask”. The guard asked. “I'm here to see Dave”. Alexis replied. “Sorry to keep you waiting miss but I was just doing my job”, the guard explained. Alexis smiled and nodded. As she entered the law firm, the receptionist showed her the way to Dave's office.

As soon as she approached the elevator, she realized it was about closing. She hurried inside the elevator before it closed. “Sorry, sorry”, she said as she bumped into a hard wall. Steve smiled when Alexis bumped into her. She stood at the far corner of the elevator. “Why do you keep bumping into me whenever we meet,are you sure it's not intentional”. Steve scoffed. Alexis recognized that voice but she couldn't remember who it was. She lifted her eyes to meet the smirk on Steve's face. “It's you again,are you stalking me”. Alexis asked. Steve laughed at her expression. “What are you doing here?”. Steve asked. “What are you also doing here”. Alexis replied. “You could say I'm a worker here”. Steve replied. Alexis scoffed.

With a ding sound the elevator opened. Steve glanced behind him to see Alexis following him. “Why are you following me”, Steve asked. “I just happen to be going through that route,act as if I'm not behind you". Alexis scoffed. “Why does he feel so full of himself”, she thought. Alexis realized that Steve might be going to that same place. As soon as Steve entered his office, he realized Dave sitting there reluctantly. “What are you doing here". Steve asked. “I'm here to introduce you to someone but the person isn't yet in",Dave reasoned. They were startled by someone clearing the throat. They looked to see Alexis standing by the door.

Dave nudged her inside. “Isn't it nice, she's here already". Dave said while glancing at Steve. “What”,Steve scoffed. “Alexis nevermind, this is Steve my best friend and my CEO, I was talking about to work on your case and Steve this is Alexis the one I explained her case to you". Dave explained. “Well you can leave now so I can have my conversation with my client". Steve stressed on the word client. Alexis felt somewhat angry with the way he addressed her.

“Alexis you can have a seat, I guess you are as surprised as I am though but nevermind we will be working together now so you have to collaborate with me”. Steve explained. “I guess I have no option then", Alexis nodded. “Well it's nice to work together with you”. Steve stretched out his hands. Alexis reached out and shook his hands. “Nice to work with you too Mr. Steve". Alexis smiled. “No need to be serious Alexis”. Steve laughed at her expression. “Well I've studied your case so I will start my investigations. Until then I will have to give you my number so that I can call you in case I find something. Is that ok with you”. Steve asked. “I'm cool with anything”. Steve nodded. They exchanged contacts and Alexis left after that.

Alexis couldn't digest everything she just saw and witnessed. “Well fate is bringing Steve closer to me but I must be careful, I can't fall in love just yet”, she thought. “What I'm I even thinking about", she tapped her forehead. She drove home afterwards. Alexis watched her favourite TV show “The good doctor". She soon felt sleepy so she went to her room to sleep. “That's a lot of information to take in", she thought.

Meanwhile Steve smiled to himself after Alexis left. Alexis felt really familiar to his childhood crush but he just couldn't ask her that. “You seem to be in a good mood,care to tell me”,Dave said unannounced. “Who invited you here", Steve scoffed. “Its been a while we hanged out, don't you think so”. Dave asked. “I'm busy so you better leave, besides I have dinner with my family so I will be leaving in a jiffy”. Steve explained. “You ain't fun to be with",Dave pouted like a child. Steve smiled and smacked his head. “Ouch, what was that for”. Dave exclaimed. Steve left while laughing.
