“Thank you Steve for coming to my rescue. I wouldn't have known what would have happened if you delayed " Alexis spoke feeling remorseful for blaming someone wrongly all along. Who could have thought her uncle was behind this all along. “Shhh don't worry. We are friends remember? I'm just happy I came on time. As much as I would love to continue talking to you,Kayla is worried sick about you " Steve explained while fixing her seatbelt. Alexis heart beat faster with the close contact. She looked outside the window and released a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

“Oh I hope my absence didn't stop the reception of the wedding. I would feel really bad if it did" Alexis asked suddenly earning a chuckle from Steve. “I wouldn't say it stopped the reception,it actually paused it but the guests understand." Steve explained and ignited the engine ready to start driving. “That is so embarrassing Steve" Alexis explained with her hands covering her face. The rest of the car ride was silent.

“I thought you were sending me back to my house but I didn't expect you to bring back here to the reception. How am I supposed to face everyone right now? This is so humiliating Steve ". Alexis spoke with a frown. “We need to get down. I informed Dave we are on our way back here or I would have no option than to carry you inside which I don't mind". Steve spoke with a whisper. “That's not funny ". Alexis retorted and slammed the door hard. “Hey!! Do you want to break my door?" Steve questioned but Alexis chuckled and walked away. “Wait up! It's the other way" Steve shouted after her. Alexis halted in her steps.

She reluctantly followed behind Steve into the reception. She patiently stood behind Steve. “Hey Steve, where is my friend? Why are you here all alone? Did something happen to Alexis? Talk to me please. If something happens to her I will never forgive myself " Alexis recognized the voice as Kayla's. She stifled a laugh when Kayla shook Steve. “Hi " Alexis said with a wave and stepped out from behind Steve. Kayla glared at her and hit her head with a fist. “What's that for? I already went through a lot and you are making it worse" Alexis explained with a wince. “I'm sorry. I was so worried about you and didn't know what to do and..." Alexis stopped her with a finger on her mouth. “Shhhh it's ok. I'm here and I'm fine. Can we continue what I missed out on " Kayla suddenly hugged her which she returned happily.

“Don't scare me like that again and unfortunately it ended. The guests left a while ago. I didn't want to bother anyone " Kayla explained with her hands resting on her hips. “How is my godson?" Alexis whispered and Kaya giggled in response.

It's been a while since Alexis returned and the newly wed couple had left to the resort for their honeymoon with the exception of Alexis and Steve. Alexis stood with Steve awkwardly at the venue the wedding was being held. “Urgh... Can you drop me off at my house. I didn't bring my car along and it's a bit far besides it's late" Alexis asked but quickly regretted when she saw the look on his face. “Never mind I would take the bus. It's just a ten minutes walk from here to the bus station " Alexis explained and started walking away from him.

She sighed and was about crossing the road when Steve suddenly stopped her. “I'm sorry if my silence scared you away but I would like you to sleep over at my place. That is the only way I could be relaxed considering what happened today. Besides you stay alone." Steve explained while scratching his head. Alexis stared at him in confusion. Why would she sleep at a man's house not to talk of the fact that she's attracted to him somehow. “Don't worry I can take care of myself. I'm a grown woman not a teenager who needs guidance." Steve knew there was nothing else to convince her so he did the reasonable. He carried her towards the car. “Put me down Steve. I can walk by myself. This is so embarrassing " Alexis shouted hitting his chest. Steve chuckled and opened the backseat gently releasing her from his hold. He locked the door and sat in the driver's seat. “Enjoy your ride mi lady" Steve spoke with a bow. “That's kidnapping Steve " Alexis broke out into laughter.

While in the car Alexis thought about whether to pursue the lawsuit or leave it be. “Urgh... Steve can we cancel the filing of the lawsuit I made earlier on" Alexis spoke and the atmosphere in the car was tense. “Why the sudden change of mind?" Steve asked utterly confused. Women were really difficult to understand, he thought. “I know the culprit behind my father's death" Alexis spoke looking down. “Oh!" Steve spoke. “We are already here. You can get down " Steve spoke as he opened the door. Alexis reluctantly got down.

“You actually live in a castle Steve. I'm pretty sure this is where you bring your other girls ". Alexis spoke with a smile but Steve ignored her. As they approached the front door, Steve stopped abruptly and Alexis bumped into him. “I've never brought any lady to this apartment " Steve explained with a serious face. “You don't have a sense of humor Steve. It was just a tease " Steve chuckled and ruffled her hair. “Hey don't do that again,it makes me feel like a child ". Charles stood in front of the door.

“Hi Alexis. You got us all worried and..." Charles stated but stopped when he noticed the glare on Steve's face. “ .... it's good you are fine. If I may be excused" He replied with a bow and winked at Steve. “Omg Steve,all this is yours?" Alexis exclaimed touching one thing and another. Steve nodded with a smile. ,“No way. This is super cool. Who designed this house for you? I'm in love with the design " Alexis exclaimed as she took it all in. She was expecting black and white theme interior design inside the house but it felt Steve had added color to the house.

“Young ma..." Steve stopped the older lady with his hand and motioned towards Alexis. Alexis was so caught up with a vase that she didn't witness what happened. “Sir please what do you want for dinner?". The older lady asked. “I will eat whatever my guest will have". Steve explained dragging Alexis up the stairs. “I want to show you your room for tonight " Steve explained and Alexis giggled.

“Thank you but you don't have to do all this" Alexis explained as they stopped infront of a room. It has everything in there. Just shower and get a change of clothes. My younger sister uses this room a lot when she comes around so there are new clothes in the wardrobe. “You have a sibling? You never mentioned anything to me " Alexis asked utterly confused. “You never bothered to ask" Steve explained and walked towards the door. “Will be waiting for you downstairs for dinner" Steve explained and stepped out. Alexis stomped her feet as she approached the newly prepared towel. She grabbed it and headed into the washroom.

The washroom was super amazing. She walked out of the room after finding a dress that was her exact size. “Ma'am please have a seat", the elder woman spoke dragging the chair out for her to sit. “Thank you" Alexis murmured and took a seat. Steve was already seated and he found the look on Alexis' face funny. “Alexis this is Maria, my nanny since infancy. Maria this is Alexis, my friend " Steve explained noticing the tense atmosphere. Alexis gave a wave and picked her fork ready to devour the meal infront of her.

“Young master can I speak freely " Maria spoke with a smile. Steve frowned knowing it was not going to be something good. “This is the first time you brought a woman here since I've been here,who is she" Alexis choked on her food. This woman was as blunt as Nanny Jean. She wonders if she is fine wherever she is. “Maria please you are making my guest uncomfortable. We will talk about this later " Steve explained but Maria chuckled and left for the kitchen.

“Your nanny is a bit hilarious. She didn't smile when she asked that " Alexis explained with a smile. “... She does remind me of my nanny but we haven't gotten in touch since I left for college" Alexis explained with a sad smile.

“Good night Steve" Alexis spoke as Steve stood up and headed to his room. The show she was watching was boring. Quickly turning off the television, she decided to give herself a tour of the house. Along the hallway she noticed a portrait which she recognized. It was Biannca, Mr Johnson's daughter. But what was it doing in the hallway. Drawing closer to the picture,it reads Steve Johnson, Biannca Johnson and Mr and Mrs Johnson. “No way!" Alexis exclaimed covering her mouth. Steve was Biannca's elder brother. How come she didn't see the resemblance all along. Goddess know how she would have felt if Steve's father was the main culprit behind her father's death. How would she had faced him afterwards?
