It was just at the brink of dawn when I opened my eyes. Ken wasn't on the bed near me.

It came as a shock. I was used to waking up to his kisses. I had put the maid in charge of the baby since last night. She was a bit surprised that I left her alone with the baby, but she had been really nice and looked quite motherly.

As much as it was an opportunity that I had always wanted
