C14 The Town

Jiang Haofeng looked at the town in front of him and heaved a sigh of relief.

For some reason, his mother had been leaning against him all the way. She felt a little uncomfortable in front of her brother. However, Jiang Haofeng also knew that Luo Qingshan was actually worried about him. He suppressed the shyness in his heart and acted very intimately with Gu Xiwei. Now that he had finally reached his destination, he felt somewhat lost.

Gu Xiwei looked at the small town in front of her. Although it was simple, it was very lively. For Gu Xiwei who had not gone out much in her two lifetimes, this was already enough to be a pleasant surprise.

Walking on the paved road, Gu Xiwei looked at the candied fruits, steamed buns, stinky tofu and other snacks that were being sold on both sides of the road. Gu Xiwei deeply felt that she had lived her whole life and had someone by her side to accompany her. She would no longer face the despair of a person. She did not want to experience that feeling again. So she felt that this feeling was very good now.

Thinking of this, Gu Xiwei tightened her grip on Jiang Haofeng's finger. Thinking of the beautiful life in the future, her heart was stirred.

Jiang Haofeng seemed to have understood something. He looked at his mother's sparkling eyes, put down Gu Xiwei's hand, and walked to the hawker of candied fruits on the roadside.

"Little brother, give me a skewer of candied fruits." Jiang Haofeng handed over a copper coin.

The hawker took the money skillfully and took a skewer of candied fruits. "I didn't expect you to have children at such a young age."

Jiang Haofeng scratched his head and smiled in embarrassment. "I bought it for my wife."

The hawker was also stunned.

Jiang Haofeng took the candied fruit and returned to Gu Xiwei's side.

"Here, Little Mother, eat." Jiang Haofeng passed the candied fruit to Gu Xiwei.

Gu Xiwei did not know whether to laugh or cry, but she could not deny that she was cared for. Her heart was sweet, as if she was soaking in warm sugar water.

Gu Xiwei took a bite of the candied gourd. It was sweet and sour, and her entire body laughed even sweeter. Jiang Haofeng saw Gu Xiwei's smile and also smiled. Luo Qingshan was the only one walking behind them.

Jiang Haofeng brought Gu Xiwei to the market. When Luo Qingshan saw that they had found a place, he walked over and put down the cage with the fox. He stood quietly by the side, waiting for others to come and see him.

Gu Xiwei saw their familiar faces and thought that this was how the market waited for others to come over and ask for the price. However, when she heard the surrounding hawkers, she realized that it was not like this.

The aunty on the left tossed a bundle of clean and tender vegetables, "Vegetables, fresh vegetables, only five wen per jin."

The middle-aged man on the right was carrying a fat and beautiful chicken, "Don't miss it when you pass by. It's an old hen reared at home. It's very delicious when stewed with soup. Thirty wen per chicken."

The fox in their cage tightly grasped the gap and stared at the chicken on the right. The chicken was so scared that it squeaked and fluttered its feathers all over the ground.

Gu Xiwei licked her candied gourd and turned to look at Jiang Haofeng. "Haofeng, should we sell it a few times? Otherwise, I don't think anyone will see us."

Jiang Haofeng's face turned red when he heard that. He said embarrassingly, "Little girl, I, I don't know what to call..."

Gu Xiwei looked at Luo Qingshan again. Luo Qingshan could not withstand the pressure. "Hehe, sister-in-law, this is the first time Haofeng and I have come to sell living things. I really don't know what it's called..."

Gu Xiwei did not know what to say for a moment. Looking at their familiar faces, she thought they were experienced.

Just as she was about to throw away her shame and compete with the granduncle and aunty beside her, a person in brocade robe and shoes stopped in front of them.

"This, this is Silver Fox!?" The man asked in surprise. At the same time, he squatted on the ground without hesitation and observed the two foxes in the cage at close range.

Gu Xiwei then had the chance to observe this person. She saw that his face was pale and his hair was black and glossy. He had tied a simple bun on his head and was carefully wrapped with a jade crown. There were two strands of hair hanging down on both sides. He looked young but when she observed carefully, she could see some fine lines at the corners of his eyes.

Jiang Haofeng immediately answered when he saw someone asking, "Yes." Yes, that's what we got yesterday when we went up the hill to hunt." He picked up the cage and walked around, "Look, this silver fox's fur is smooth. It's hard to come by. A pair, buy it back and make it a pet or give it to someone. It's a good prize."

The person was a bit moved when he heard this, but he asked again, "I wonder where you guys found it. This silver fox is extremely rare, and you can actually get a pair?"

"It's in the trap on the mountain in the village. This pair is really lucky, there aren't any other animals nearby."

Hearing this, the man was a little disappointed, "I see. How much are you going to sell this silver fox for?"

"Silver Fox is rare. Another pair. You know that this fox has always been hard to come by. The price is definitely not cheap." Jiang Haofeng observed his expression as he spoke. He noticed that this person's expression was calm, so he threw out a price, "Three hundred and sixty taels, and I'll give the cage to you. How about it?"

"That's a good price." The man touched his hair. "Are there really no more silver fox?"

Gu Xiwei had been observing from the side. She found it strange that this man had been asking about the origin of the silver fox. She looked him up and down and found that he did not bring any money bags. Instead, he was staring at the silver fox. Gu Xiwei secretly pulled Jiang Haofeng's sleeve.

Jiang Haofeng asked, "May I know why the guest is going to buy Silver Fox back?"

"Of course it's to make a cloak."

"I'm really sorry. The silver fox has been raising it for two days and has developed some feelings for it. I really can't bear to let them lose their lives. I'm only going to sell them as pets. I'm sorry, sir." Jiang Haofeng explained in a good tone.

"Forget it. These two foxes aren't enough for me to make a cloak." This man was smart enough to leave.

Only Luo Qingshan did not understand. He did not know why Jiang Haofeng said that foxes were sold as pets. He did not know why this guest gave up so easily after asking for a long time. However, because of his trust in his brother, he didn't question him.

Jiang Haofeng also did not understand why Gu Xiwei suddenly asked him to find a way to reject the guest and why the guest suddenly left.

Gu Xiwei saw that the two of them had yet to react, "That person did not bring any money at all. Although he said that he wanted to buy it, he did not care about the price at all. Instead, he kept asking where we caught Silver Fox. It could be seen that he didn't want to buy a fox at all. He was just asking for information. But he didn't pay for the information. I looked at his eyes and kept staring at the fox. Maybe he'll find a way to take our Silver Fox away later. "

"Little girl, you're still the smart one." Jiang Haofeng suddenly realized what was going on and praised Gu Xiwei from the bottom of his heart.
