C6 My Woman

"You think I'm the one to blame for this?" Shao Molee pointed incredulously at the bruise forming on his forehead. "I'm the one who's injured here. I don't know if you know her, but she isn't some damsel in distress!"

Xi Muqian raised his eyebrows. "I didn't ask you for any comments with regards to my woman."

His woman? He glanced at Li Hunag one more time, watching the way he had guarded her. A sneer painted across his face as he rolled his eyes, shaking his head at the pair. Even the sight was enough to make him vomit.

"Your woman? What drug did the woman give you to make you think that she's your woman?"

His grip tightened around her waist as Xi Muqian led her out of the elevator. He stepped in front of Shao Molee, towering his also tall frame. Glancing at them from side to side, their physical appearances were almost incomparable!

"I was never the one to prove myself, but there's something about your attitude that ticks me off." He tilted his head arrogantly as if he was talking to just a regular man. "Maybe it's time to give you a quick dose of reality."

Without another word, he pressed one of his hands against the back of Li Huang's head and used the other hand to hold her chin. "Relax," he whispered before kissing her on the lips. His hot breath melted against hers.

In an instant, she could feel her entire body stiffening from the sudden hold.

However, as soon as the seconds had passed, she instinctively closed her eyes and allowed her mind to go blank. His soft lips caressed hers, and she could feel his hand sliding down her back, pulling her up against his chest.

Shao Molee's jaw dropped at the sight. The rumors–they obviously weren't true.

But just the sight of the man kissing the woman who was supposed to be his sent an unexplainable rage in his heart. Shao Molee clenched his fists, glaring at the way they melted against each other's touch as if nothing mattered to them.

The grudge between the two families wouldn't be resolved today, definitely.

"Find, you've already proven yourself." Scowling, he stomped into the elevator.

Only then did Xi Muqian finally let go of Li Huang.

Just as the elevator doors were about to close, Xi Muqian pressed on the button and glanced at the man one more time. "Before I let you go, I'd just want to make one thing clear first," he said reasonably, but his features were anything but reasonable. "Li Huang's my woman, and I suggest you don't bother her any longer."

"You–" Shao Molee restrained himself. Why the hell was he still so arrogant?

A part of him wanted to stomp over there and punch the man twice on the jaw, but he knew that he couldn't do it now. After all, Xi Muqian was the most powerful man in the city. Even if he had exhausted all his resources now, it wouldn't be any use.

"I see you've gotten it now. I guess...we'll see you around." His eyes glinted as he let his fingers retreat from the button. The elevator doors closed between them, and the tension in the air finally dissipated.

Li Huang still hadn't recovered from the kiss.

Glancing at her stunned expression, he frowned. "Your engagement has already been canceled, so you should know how to avoid any more gossip," he lectured. "Even if you wanted to speak to him, you shouldn't have done it in your own apartment."

Wanted to speak to him? She looked up, recovering from her shock almost immediately. "I didn't ask him to come," she quickly explained. "He's the one who stayed in my apartment since last night. I swear. I–I knew nothing about this."

He stared at her for a long time before nodding his head.

She was about to say something else when the thought of them kissing entered the back of her mind. Remembering their rules yesterday, she hesitated and pointed at his mouth. "Mr. Xi... are you okay?"

"I'm okay." His voice was low. Xi Muqian had originally thought that kissing her would only cause trouble for himself, but the opposite happened.

The kiss felt like an electric current was flowing into his body. It had rendered his insides numb and his mind alive. Not only did he not hate it, but he had also enjoyed it. His fingers played with his cuffs, obviously unnerved by this entire ordeal.

However, he still pretended to be calm. "Pack your things. Once you're finished, we're going to the Civil Affairs Bureau."

"Civil Affairs Bureau?" She blinked. "We're getting the marriage certificate?"

"What else?" He tapped his foot impatiently. "I'm only free for two hours."

She smiled so widely that her dimples were shown. "I'll go and collect my luggage right now. Just give me around five minutes!"

Li Huang didn't even wait for him to reply as she raced back into her apartment. As she did so, she found her hand unconsciously trailing across the corner of her lips. A light blush colored her cheeks.

That was actually her first kiss...

But after everything that had happened, who would believe her? With a bitter shake of her head, she returned to packing a few of her clothes and essentials.

By the time they were finished, they headed to the ground floor. A sleek black car was waiting for them by the entrance.

"Mr. Xi, Miss Li," the driver greeted respectfully, opening the back door for Xi Muqian. Just as she was about to follow right behind him, the old man immediately opened the passenger door. "I...Miss Li, you may sit in the front."

Of course. Recalling his germaphobia, she was about to follow him when Xi Muqian called out, "There's no need. Come over."

Even the driver was stunned by the man's words. What was going on?

Director Xi never let women sit next to him. Heck, even just inviting them into his car was already a huge step on his part. Usually, no matter how many times women had thrown themselves at him, they never succeeded in getting close to him. Yet now... He gaped at the way Li Huang slid into the backseat.

Although she still kept her distance, his boss didn't look uncomfortable.

The driver stood there, stunned for a long time before he remembered what he was doing. Placing the luggage into the drunk, he closed the doors and got into the car. However, that still didn't erase the questions popping in his mind.

After their trip to the Bureau, Li Huang got back in the afternoon to tidy up the things that she had brought over. She grabbed a few of her make-up essentials and placed them on the small table in the corner.

She glanced at the marriage certificate placed at the corner of the table and shook her head in disbelief.

She had really become a married woman.

Moreover, she was married to a man who was too good to be true.

Life really had so many twists and turns.

As the sun had set, Xi Muqian came back after a long day of work.

He had asked someone to prepare a very conservative black evening dress for Li Huang. After all, where they were going needed the highest amount of conservatism. Just the thought of it was enough to give him a headache.

"Are you ready?" Upon seeing her nod, they went back in the car.

"Hm..." Although she was curious as to where they were going, she didn't ask.

After all, Xi Muqian didn't say a word along the way, so she naturally stayed quiet as well.

The car had stopped, and she took this time to look around. Although there were street lamps by the road, lighting their way, she could see a vague outline of a villa by the end of the lane. Other than that, she was pulling out blanks. Where the hell were they?

She got out of the car to get a closer look. However, just as she was about to go closer, she felt a shadow shrouding over her.

The shadow belonged to none other than Xi Muqian.

"The place is very dangerous," he said calmly. "Do you really want to come with me? If not, you can stay here and wait."

"Where are we going exactly."

She didn't expect him to answer her, but he quickly glanced at the big words on the plaque placed by the gates. "Some might say it's hell on earth," he said seriously, and the glint in his eyes faltered completely.
