C2 A Mysterious Man with a Reserved Demeanor

Wang Hee's face turned pale.

The next second, a deep, commanding voice resonated through the room.

"Leave."

In no time, the room fell silent.

On the other side of the screen, Qiao Ann pondered. They were so close to sealing the deal; giving up now wasn't an option.

"Director Wang, shall we continue?" Qiao Ann kept her emotions in check, her voice still sweet and soft.

Wang Hee shot her a sharp look, his steps toward the door unusually hurried.

"Uncle, when... when did you get back?" His voice was filled with apprehension.

Qiao Ann calculated quickly. Wow, someone who could make Kang City's little tyrant, Wang Hee, tremble had to be a big shot!

His uncle? If she followed suit and called him uncle too, could she possibly forge a connection with this big shot?

With that thought, Qiao Ann fastened the buttons on her blouse, darted out, and linked her arm with Wang Hee's. Without even seeing who it was, she cheerfully called out, "Uncle."

Wang Hee shuddered at her words, quickly shaking off her arm, thinking, is this woman crazy?!

Qiao Ann was annoyed by Wang Hee's attempt to distance himself. She shot him a glance before turning to the man in front of her, stunned.

She met a pair of deep, cold eyes that even glasses couldn't hide.

In Qiao Ann's mind, an uncle should be a burly man in his forties or fifties, or perhaps a weathered, balding old guy.

The man in front of her couldn't be more than twenty-seven or twenty-eight. He wore a black shirt tucked into crisp dress pants, his sleeves casually rolled up. The top two buttons of his shirt were undone, revealing a strong Adam's apple, and his gold-rimmed glasses added a touch of sophistication. There was a mature, restrained allure about him.

His expression remained unchanged, but his eyes were particularly deep as he quietly observed the woman before him. It was strange—Joanne, who feared nothing, felt unnerved under his gaze. Even standing silently, he exuded an intimidating presence that commanded respect.

"Who is this, Wang Hee?" Faang Ziyu, following behind the man, broke the silence.

"Jo... Joanne... a friend," Wang Hee stammered.

Faang Ziyu gave a cold snort, glancing at the screen. "Is this how friends behave?"

Joanne immediately understood. He was likely referring to the fact that they had ended up at the table together, which wasn't typical for mere friends.

The man, who had been silent, shifted his gaze from Joanne's face, rubbing his knuckles as he spoke softly, "Hibiscus Garden wasn't like this when I left."

"Uncle, I... I thought it was a shame to leave it unused, so..."

"Close it," he said, his tone calm yet leaving no room for argument.

"But..." Wang Hee began, only to be cut off.

"Restore it to its original state within three days, and don't let me see this happen again," the man continued, his voice steady but somehow imposing.

Wang He nodded vigorously, fully aware that he had definitely angered his uncle today. He was puzzled, though, about why his uncle, who had been focused on overseas markets for years, suddenly returned home. Without dwelling on it, Wang He quickly pulled Qiao Ann along and left.

Feeling frustrated about the missed opportunity, Qiao Ann hurried to catch up with Wang He. "Director Wang, you didn't finish what you were saying."

Wang He remained silent, his brow furrowed in thought. Qiao Ann reached out to stop him.

With a sigh, Wang He said, "Miss Qiao, let me be straight with you. What you want isn't happening right now."

"How can that be? Aren't you the general manager of Huachen Medicine?" Qiao Ann teased, raising an eyebrow.

"Huachen Medicine is a wholly-owned subsidiary. You must know who the actual controlling party is."

After a brief pause, Qiao Ann confirmed, "You mean the person just now... from Mosheng Group?"

Wang He nodded, looking tense. "Yes, that's Mo Kai, the Chairman of Mosheng Group. Whatever you're trying to achieve, he's the one who has the final say."

Mo Kai—a name Qiao Ann had heard of. He was the mastermind behind the legendary Mosheng Group empire. Rumor had it that he was ruthless in business, decisive, and almost obsessively disciplined.

Huachen Medicine, the renowned pharmaceutical tech company that Qiao Ann dreamed of partnering with, was just a small piece of the vast Mosheng Group.

Rather than wasting energy on someone uncertain, it's better to focus on the one who truly holds power.

Joanne turned her head, glancing behind her.

Inside the private room.

Ziyu looked at the man who remained silent and spoke up, "That woman, interesting?"

Mo Kai glanced at him but didn't respond.

"I've never seen you pay attention to a woman for that long."

"Mind your own business." Mo Kai took long strides out of the room, clearly not wanting to continue the conversation.

Ziyu, feeling anxious, blurted out, "Bro, she's not Su Mu."

Mo Kai paused for a moment before saying, "You should head back."
