C6 I Advise You Not to Act too Much
The night was deep and alluring.
Inside the International Conference Center's banquet hall, the music was smooth and sentimental, the lighting soft and mysterious. Guests exchanged pleasantries and clinked glasses in conversation.
Mo Kai, not one for the noise, sat alone in the banquet hall's lounge area. It wasn't long before a circle of business people eager to make connections surrounded him. However, Mo Kai's stern demeanor and silence made them hesitate, unsure whether to approach.
Suddenly, the click-clack of high heels drew closer, catching everyone's attention. Heads turned to see a captivating woman approaching. Her dark, cascading curls fell to her waist, and she wore a sleek, black halter dress with a daring open back. The delicate strap around her neck seemed like it could be undone with a gentle tug. The dress featured a cinched waist with cutouts, revealing glimpses of her fair skin. A high slit in the skirt offered teasing glimpses of her long, pale legs. Her feet, adorned in strappy stilettos with eight-centimeter heels, boasted striking burgundy nail polish that was both dazzling and enticing.
She was like a character straight out of a novel—a true enchantress.
Mo Kai swirled the whiskey in his glass, casting a glance at the owner of Shengdong Medical, a portly man sitting diagonally across from him. So, it was this tactic again. He admitted the woman had impressive allure, but ultimately, he had overestimated her.
Mo Kai set down his glass and stood up, ready to leave. He had no interest in watching her flirt with other men. But before he could take a step, a captivating fragrance enveloped him.
Everyone held their breath.
What was happening?!
Mo Kai, known for keeping his distance from women, was pushed back onto the couch by a woman who then sat directly on his lap! The crowd rubbed their eyes, thinking they were seeing things.
"Miss Qiao, please show some respect," Mo Kai said, his face expressionless and his voice deep and emotionless.
Qiao Ann was unfazed. She placed a slender finger over her slightly parted lips and whispered, "Shh, quiet."
The next moment, she leaned in, her warm breath and soft murmurs brushing against Mo Kai's ear, "Remember, you promised not to interfere... just stay put."
The scene drew a collective gasp from the onlookers.
Qiao Ann paid no mind to the gawking crowd. She was focused on her plan, refusing to be distracted. Yet, despite being in control of the situation, Mo Kai's gaze felt like that of a king observing a spectacle, calm and detached.
An inexplicable desire to conquer surged within Qiao Ann. She lifted her chin slightly, her hand moving to the tie at Mo Kai's throat.
"Director Mo, isn't this uncomfortable?" The deep red tie unraveled between her delicate fingers and was tossed aside.
It wasn't over yet. Next, the top two buttons of the man's meticulously white shirt were undone. Her cool fingertips barely brushed against his strong Adam's apple.
Mo Kai's eyelashes fluttered slightly.
Everyone shivered, suddenly realizing no one dared to be a third wheel for the boss, and quickly dispersed.
In the lounge area, only Mo Kai and Qiao Ann remained.
Qiao Ann felt a hint of satisfaction. No wonder I'm so good at this.
Mo Kai lowered his gaze to the woman sitting on his lap and said coldly, "Your audience has left."
Qiao Ann was taken aback, then straightened her back, ready to get up. However, she found herself unable to move, held in place by a force.
A large hand gripped her waist while another held the back of her head, pulling her closer.
Mo Kai's lips curled into a rare, roguish smile. "Am I useful to you?"
Qiao Ann's heart skipped a beat.
Did he figure it out?!
To make Shengdong's boss willingly step down, only Mo Kai could do it. By making them believe she was Mo Kai's woman, her words naturally carried weight. Businessmen are always in it for profit, willing to trade favors and sacrifice small gains for larger ones. It's a win-win.
So, Mo Kai was right—it was all about using him. She leveraged his reputation and influence to make her work easier. Today, she was going all in, trying to win Mo Kai over, because she had to secure this collaboration. As their eyes met, Qiao Ann's heart pounded like a drum. After a long pause, a deep voice, deliberately lowered, whispered in her ear, "I advise you not to overplay your hand."
