C8 The Roleplaying Had Been Caught Again

After a long day at work, the weary office workers streamed out of the building. Not far away, a sleek black Range Rover was parked by the curb. A tall, distinguished-looking man stood straight, his silhouette elongated by the evening glow, creating an unmissable scene.

"Mr. Sitang!" Qiao Ann burst out of the building, immediately spotting the striking man, and hurried over.

"Take it easy," Sitang said with a gentle smile, opening the passenger door and guiding Qiao Ann as she clumsily climbed in.

The car merged into the traffic.

"How's work going?" Sitang asked.

"A few hiccups, but thanks to your cousin at the City Daily, I've already made contact with their CEO."

"Is this company tough to work with?"

"Mosheng Group. Have you heard of them, Mr. Sitang?"

Sitang paused thoughtfully. "Yeah, I think everyone in the city knows them."

"What about Mo Kai?" Qiao Ann suddenly turned to him.

"Yes," Sitang replied calmly.

"Really?" Qiao Ann looked puzzled.

"He's an old classmate of mine."

Qiao Ann's mouth dropped open slightly.

"Back at MIT, we were in the same research group," Sitang said, his hand resting on the steering wheel, eyes focused ahead, his tone steady as ever.

"Didn't you study medicine?"

"I minored in economics."

Alright, she didn't quite understand the world of the big shots.

Dr. Hee glanced at Qiao Ann, seemingly uninterested in continuing the conversation about Mo Kai, and changed the subject: "The Swiss SRI team is visiting Kang City this week to tour and exchange ideas at our hospital. If you're available, you can join as my assistant."

"Really?!" Qiao Ann nearly jumped out of her seat.

"Role-playing? Dr. Hee's little assistant? Ha, I'm good at that!"

Dr. Hee shook his head with a resigned smile, but his eyes held an unmistakable warmth.

He hadn't anticipated how small the world could be, where people he'd rather not cross paths with would unexpectedly meet again.

Kang City International Hospital.

Qiao Ann donned a white coat, her makeup barely there, exuding a graceful aura.

"Mr. Sitang, do I look the part?" Qiao Ann asked, smoothing her forehead with mock seriousness and twirling elegantly, only to freeze when she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure.

Mo Kai, dressed in a sharp suit, was watching them from a respectful distance, his gaze seemingly probing.

Mo Kai approached, pulling his hand from his pocket. "Long time no see, Dr. Hee."

"Long time no see, Director Mo."

Their handshake was brief and firm, polite yet distant.

Mo Kai's dark eyes shifted to the stunned Qiao Ann beside them. "And who is this?"

"My assistant," Dr. Hee instinctively stepped forward, as if to assert his claim.

"Oh?" Mo Kai's lips curled into a playful smile as he glanced at Qiao Ann, but he said nothing.

Qiao Ann's heart inexplicably skipped a beat.

"Kai." An elderly voice called out.

Mo Kai turned around.

A group of people with foreign appearances approached, wearing badges identifying them as Swiss SRI specialists.

Qiao Ann felt her breath catch. The moment she had dreamed of was right before her eyes.

The leading elder walked up to Mo Kai and said, "This place is indeed impressive."

Hee Sitang suddenly realized that it might have been Mo Kai who introduced their hospital to SRI.

SRI boasts a world-class team of medical experts, equipped with the most advanced medical technology, making them a sought-after partner for many hospitals eager to learn and exchange knowledge. He had been somewhat surprised that this renowned team chose their private hospital for collaboration.

It seemed likely that Mo Kai was the reason. But why would he do this? Their relationship wasn't that close.

His thoughts were quickly interrupted by the arrival of the hospital's senior management team.

"Sitang, why are you standing there? Show the experts around," Director Hee said, looking slightly displeased at his son for daydreaming at such a moment.

Hee Sitang snapped back to reality, his voice humble and courteous: "Please, follow me."

As he turned, Qiao Ann's gaze suddenly met a pair of eyes as cold as a winter pond, and the person's thin lips seemed to curve into a barely perceptible sneer.

Jo Ann pulled her gaze back, calming her emotions, and refocused on the specialists. She had one thought in mind: how to strike up a conversation with them. Yet, she found no opportunity.

That was until she heard Sitang's voice: "Dr. Tim, I wonder if there's a chance to learn about the latest heart transplant and artificial valve replacement techniques from SRI."

Mo Kai's eyes flickered slightly. This project was scarcely known domestically, as it was still in the clinical trial phase, and domestic medical equipment was quite limited. Few hospitals showed interest.

Initially, it seemed Sitang would seize this rare opportunity to discuss neurology, his field of expertise and the foundation of his family's hospital.

Sure enough, when Director Hee heard his son ask this question, his face twitched, but he could only wait quietly.

Dr. Tim replied tactfully, "Dr. Hee, we've signed a confidential cooperation agreement with Huachen Medicine on this project, so... I'm sorry."

Jo Ann realized that Sitang had asked the question on her behalf, and she gave him a grateful look. This small gesture, however, did not go unnoticed by another man in the room.
