“My lord,” I came back from my reverie upon hearing a familiar voice, I saw Jovani, walking in, I smiled and approached him, “How was my dear nephew? You seemed bothered,”

“No, I’m just thinking about the coronation, I feel like something is odd, and I don’t know why, but nothing comes to my mind about why I feel this way.

“I think I know why, Max, that was also the reason why I personally came to visit you, however, I did not expect that you are thinking that too,”

“What do you mean?” I asked, confused, my coronation as an official Alpha is seven days from now, but an odd feeling kept on pushing its way into my thoughts.

“I have talked to Kadiya,” kadiya is our pioneer, she came here first, she is here before any one of us, she also has the power to have a glimpse of the future, except for Jovani, she’s the one, whom I trust.

“How did the conversation go?”

“Remember that you have a twin, right?” I nod, my twin, whom I saw, the bearer of the omen, she said to be killed by my own parents and left me afterward, “Kadiya gave her word to me, saying that your sister, is alive, by this, your parents have lied to you and to the whole tribe,”

“My sister is alive? Where is she? Have they seen her? Bring her to me,” I immediately said.

“Max, hear me first, this is the fatal part,” he said with full seriousness, “Your twin, which is the bearer of the omen is alive, it only means one thing, disaster. Your twin will bring us disaster, and even death; you are our next Alpha, you are always been, you have to stand up and avoid this to happen,”

My forehead creased; I am indeed, confused with how he said it, yes, my twin was believed to bear the bad news, but death? I don’t think so,

“I know, we mentioned to you about the insignia,” I nodded, “Insignia is the only way to stop the omen, you and your sister have an equal part of the insignia,” I’m still listening to him, “However, the prophecy requires a full and completed mark, it will be only accepted if it’s bearer is a single person and one of you is that, the insignia may not be appearing for now, but it will, soon, in no time, your duty was to keep the omen away from your people, that’s what an Alpha is,”

“What are you talking about? I have no intentions of hurting my sister, she’s my only family,”

I saw how Jovani’s face curled, as if, I said something offensive, “Max, we may not be related in blood, but we treat you as our own son, you are a part of our family, you have to do this, not just for us, this is especially for your people, and for your next generation, we are all relying on you, this whole clan, which your father had loved and treasured for a very long time,”

“Don’t tell me,”

He nodded, “You have to complete the insignia, you have to eradicate your sister,”

“Lincoln, what can we do for you?” said the old man, he was holding a torch, and he was informed by Lincoln’s messenger that he will be needing him tonight, “Is that your child?”

Lincoln nodded, “She is my treasure, Vera,” the old man looked fond to Vera, and she immediately make her way to the old man’s heart, “I want you to keep her while my wife and I be away for a war,”

“What? no! I don’t know how to raise a child! My wife and I have a son, and having a sweet child like her will be the death of us,”

“Please do me a favor, I know that you will keep our daughter safe, she will bear a heavy responsibility once her insignia appeared, but for now, take care of her, for us,” the old man was still not convinced, however, remembering how he greatly owes Lincoln his life made him agreed, “Please,”

He sighed and carefully accepted the child, “I will take care of her, but please, come back for her,”

Lincoln nodded, he gave Vera a last glimpse and a forehead kiss before leaving the old man’s sight. He looked at the child who is peacefully sleeping in his arms, “Your parents will be back, for now, I will take care of you,”

“Fuck,” dream again, I can’t remember how many times I have dreamed about it, but it was blurry and the moment that I opened my eyes, everything drifts away from my memory, but I will surely have a fucking heavy head for the whole day, which I hate, damn it.

I have no choice but to stand up, I have a job to do right now, I will prove to that man that I’m no longer what I used to be, he won’t be able to lay his finger on me, ever.

I did a warm shower to lessen my headache, which I successfully did, I chose to wear my pencil cut knee length skirt, and a white sleeveless button-down shirt, I tied my hair neatly and paired it with leather boots, and my white handbag. I gave myself a final looked before storming out of my apartment.

It usually takes, forty minutes for me to reach the company, but today was undeniably stressful, the traffic was a way to long than my patience, I arrived seven minutes before my working hours, I immediately settled myself, and uttered a small prayer before I started my day.

I didn’t see Zachary throughout the day, which is in favor, I can be myself and did a great job, I was so productive, that I still have a couple of hours for myself.

“Vera, have you heard the news?” Amara, one of the gossipers in my department said, she was holding a cup of coffee.

I took a brief gaze at her and resume typing again, “What?”

“Sir Zachary’s office was a disaster! Some said that some burglars entered their house and took a lot of things,”

That’s the time that I stopped what I was doing, and remember how big was Zachary’s house, don’t they have tons of security? I’ve seen them when we were on our way inside, that burglar must have been so professional.

“And?” I resumed.

“Omg girl, are you not concerned?” she asked like it was a big deal for not being concerned.

“Look, I have things to do, and besides, Zachary was old enough to deal with you, he even has different companies, don’t you think he can handle himself better than most people?”

Amara rolled her eyes and walked out, I finished my job and was about to go out when some of my co-workers asked me to join them, I have nothing else to do, so I decided to loosen up for a bit and accepted their offer.

We went to a bar fifteen minutes away from the company, the whole place was so crowded, blue, red and orange lights dominates the whole place, we were supposed to just eat and end the day with a videoke, but the whole pub was fully booked since today is Friday.

“Are you a light or heavy drinker?” Jana asked as she offered me a shot glass, I just shrugged and took it. I drink occasionally, but that doesn’t mean that my alcohol tolerance is low, I can keep up with them, I’m sure of it.

“How’s your working experience with us, so far?” she asked, guess I have to answer it.

“Good, for now, doing normal tasks every day,”

“Zachary likes you,” I choked with my own saliva upon hearing what she said, she chuckled and handed me a tissue, which I accepted, “Well, I’m not just an ordinary employee to the company, but most people were not aware of that, I’m Zachary’s cousin,”

I looked at her with disbelief, “You what? Are you drunk?” because that will be the only possible answer to what she was doing right now.

“Come on! I’m not even tipsy, Zachary likes you, I mean, you caught his attention, he’s doing all that shits because that’s the only way he sees for you to notice him,”

“You crazy woman,” but she just laughed and drink another glass, I stood up and grabbed my bag, “I’ll just use the comfort room,”

Jana just nodded and grab the man beside her, then suddenly kissed the guy! What the fuck was that! She’s a little witch! She must be drunk, she would not dare to stay that is she’s sober.

I was on my way to the comfort room when I felt that someone was running in my way, I planned to dodge, but it was too late, my bag fell from my hand, and felt a pang of pain to my shoulder like I was pushed to a thick wall.

I immediately stand up and looked for the person who hit me, there I saw a girl, nearly my age, giving me her dead look, she was wearing a revealing maxi dress, her hair was loose, paired with black boots, which I saw somewhere.

“Watch where you going bitch, or I will kill and eat you, dumbass,” she threatened me.

“Glazilda! Come home! Max is looking for you! I’ll be fucked up!”

The lady in front of me cusses and in just a snap she was nowhere in my eyes.

What the fucking hell did just happen?
