C1 The Start of a Journey

This story takes place in Seoul, one of the busiest cities in South Korea, where everybody is trying to get their jobs done, while others are trying to get a job, to survive in the big city because nobody can stay in it if they can’t even afford a cup of milk; that’s why our protagonist decided to get a job.

Jeon Jungkook, the hero of our story, is the same as many others, just another face in the crowd; a passerby who is trying to live his life. After finishing high school, he decided to not enter college, and look for a job at a corporate company, to help his parents pay the bills and satisfy his, hungry for gifts, girlfriend.

However, no one was willing to hire an eighteen-year-old who doesn't have a degree or experience, nobody needed a boy who is only skillful in the computer, they needed an older and a more reliable person, so everyone rejected him, no matter how good he performed at the interviews.

So Jungkook just kept job hunting, waking up every morning at 6 am and returning home at 6 pm, after failing to get a job, that has become his routine, for the past few months and today was no different.

Today, Jungkook got up at 6 am, as usual, got ready, and prepared himself for his tenth job interview, this week alone.

Jungkook left his parents' house, saying his goodbyes, and walked to his destination.

On his way to the company, where he is going to get interviewed, he heard a cat's meow from the side of the road; he turned around to look for the source of the noise, seeing the small kitty, made him coo but he held the urge to run to the kitty and hug her, because he didn’t want to be late, so he decided to continue walking.

But just as he about to turn, he noticed the kitten trying to cross the road. Jungkook turned his head both ways and noticed a car coming. It was coming slowly, so he just stood in his place, rooting for the kitten, to make it to the other end safely.

Unfortunately, after a few heart-stopping seconds, the kitten stopped moving along. The kitten stood in the middle of the road as the car was getting closer.

Jungkook glanced at the cat, then at the car, suddenly sprinting into the middle of the road.

Jungkook swept the kitten in his arms, then jumped away from the car's path, as the driver made a massive u-turn.

Everybody turned around to look at the scene. 'Is this person crazy? Did he just risk his life for a cat? What was this? A movie?’

"Are you freaking out of your damn mind?" Screamed the driver of the car, trapped in an anger-induced rage.

"I am awfully sorry, sir," Jungkook said as he got up from the road. With the cat still in his arms, Jungkook started to bow.

"You better be thankful I won't report you," the driver said as he stormed off. The man went to check on his boss's car.

"Thank you, sir, I am really sorry," Jungkook said, as he kept his head down, scared of what will happen if he lifts his head because he could hear the whispers around and he didn’t want to see the looks people were giving him, so he simply walked away, with the kitten in his hands.

The kitten purred and licked Jungkook's dirty hand, as if like she was saying "thank you" and "sorry". Jungkook looked at the kitten and smiled.

"No worries, little one. We are both fine, but I guess my suit isn't." Jungkook subsequently looked down at his suit; the suit has survived with him, ever since he started job hunting, but guess it’s time to put it away.

"I guess I can't go to the interview like this," Jungkook said, prodding at his bruises and the dirt in his clothes.

"But, I got to save a cute kitten like you so that is fine." Jungkook voiced, caressing the kitten.

But, as Jungkook was busy being cute with the kitten, he didn't notice someone staring at him, or rather at the both of them.
