C2 Getting a chance

Jungkook decided to abandon the interview, since he was already an hour late.

So he left the place of the incident. He started carefully planning to go apologize to the company—or more like the people who gave him the employment opportunity. After that disaster of a situation, he would then find a veterinary clinic to check the little kitten's health.

Jungkook arrived at the large building, with his battered suit and scraped hands. He first glanced around, then made a beeline for the male receptionist at the front desk.

"Hello, excuse me?" Jungkook spoke politely to the man, who was rapidly typing on his computer.

"Yes? How can I help you?", the man asked, staring curiously at Jungkook's disheveled appearance.

"Well, I had an interview an hour ago, but an unexpected event occurred and I couldn't arrive on time. I was hoping to apologize for wasting your time."

The man glanced at his watch. "The boss doesn't like people who are late; you're lucky he isn't here yet. I'll make sure you can still attend the interview."

"Is the boss the one who does the interviews?" Jungkook wrung his fingers, nervously biting his lip.

"Yes, as weird as it sounds. He likes to pick his employees personally—especially for the position of his secretary."

"So I still have a chance?"

"Yes, you do. But with your outfit, I doubt you will succeed," the man looked at Jungkook in a much more obvious way this time, "The boss likes classy, professional looking people."

Jungkook stared down at his outfit. This wouldn't do. He sighed. "It's okay, at least I can give it a try."

"Actually," the man paused in thought, "I have an extra suit with me. You want to use it?"

"Yes! If you don't mind, of course." Jungkook excitedly beamed, his voice hushing with each syllable. He ignored the fact that he literally just met him.

"No problem; I don't mind helping a cute boy like you." The person chuckled at Jungkook's cuteness.

Just as the person was about to get up from his chair to retrieve the suit, the boss entered the company—in his full glory—prompting them both to curse Jungkook's bad luck.

'Shit. The boss is here—poor kid won't get the job' The person froze in place, wide eyes staring at his boss—a tall figure—coming their way.

'Oh my bunny teeth, why don't I have luck today?' Jungkook pouted, looking at the man in the high-end suit. This man's aura seemed to reflect the fact that he seemed to be the boss.

And he was coming straight in his direction.

Third person p.o.v:

After finishing his meeting—which took longer than he expected—Taehyung went to his company establishment to conduct an interview with a potential secretary.

Normally, he interviews one person per day. Despite this surprising number, none of the people he interviewed were to his liking—even after more than a week of doing these meetings.

Taehyung strolled in the glass doors of the building. Each employee bowed respectfully at a ninety-degree angle, as expected of them.

The first thing Taehyung did was rush to Seokjin, the main receptionist, to ask for the poor soul that must've had to wait at least an hour for him.

As he made his way there, he noticed a familiar cute boy holding a familiar black cat. Wait, what? As he studied the boy's face, he realized it was the same boy in the accident earlier that day.

"Mr Seokjin, may I ask who you seen to be conversing with?" Taehyung asked, with cold eyes. They glinted in the face of the light above them, shimmering with intelligence.

"This is Mr. Jeon—the candidate for the secretary position today." Seokjin looked between the two of them, politely nodding to his boss.

"Send him to my office." Taehyung snapped, briskly inching towards his private elevator.

"Yes sir, right away." Seokjin said, bowing at the waist to Taehyung's retreating form.

Seokjin took the company phone and punched in a string of digits. Frantically asking the person on the other end of the phone to come downstairs.

"A person will come and take you to the office. I'm sorry I couldn't help you with your clothes." Seokjin said, looking at the quiet, dazed Jungkook.

"Ah, no problem—I still have a chance. I will convince him that I can be a good secretary without fancy clothes," Jungkook said. His face split into a huge grin, absolutely radiating the pure positivity that he was going for.

"Aish, what a cute kid. I really hope you get the job, and I wish all the best for you," Seokjin paused, glancing to the right at a new arrival. "Oh, look who is here." Seokjin guffawed, greeting the exasperated sigh from the person beside Jungkook. He turned around to see the man that had come.

"Hey, hyung, what do you need?" the man asked, shifting from one foot to the other.

"I need you to get this cutesy to boss's office." Seokjin said, pointing at Jungkook.

"Hello." Jungkook bowed.

"Hey, no need to do that. This is place is pretty informal when you get used to it. I'm Jimin, and you?"

"My name is Jungkook."

"Nice to meet you, Jungkook."

"Nice to meet you too, hyung-nim."

"I like this kid already." Jimin said, elated that Jungkook called him "hyung". Seokjin snorted into his cup of coffee and nodded with him.

"Okay, quit chitchatting, you take him to the boss's office. You know he hates when people are late."

"Yes, excuse me. Let's go, then."

Jimin started to walk with Jungkook keeping up behind him, the cat meowing in his hands. Jimin looked back at it with raised eyebrows.

When Seokjin remembered the kitten

in Jungkook's hands, Jimin and Jungkook were already in the elevator. The door clicked shut, and Seokjin couldn't get more than a syllable out before they were already gone.

Jungkook and Jimin reached the top floor, which was, to no one's surprise, Taehyung's office.

"Here you are. The office is on the right." Jimin said, pointing down the windowed hall.

"Thank you."

"No problem! I should go. I still have work to do—some kind of fancy new program we're testing. Good luck with your interview, yeah?"

"Thank you."

Jimin was about to close the elevator door when he noticed something. His shoulders drew up in realization.

"Jungkook, wait!" Jimin almost sprinted out of the elevator.

"Yes hyung?" Jungkook stopped in his tracks, peering at him under his eyelashes.

"Are you going to take the cat with you to the interview?"

"Oh my fluffy hair, I totally forgot about her." He stared at the small creature in his palms, grinning.

Then came the panic. " Wait, what should I do? I can't just leave her here."

"Do you want to take her with me until you finish?"

"Really? You can?" Jungkook's eyes shined with hope.

"Yeah, my manager won't mind. Even if he did, I know how to make him agree anyway."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Jungkook said as he kept bowing hysterically.

"Okay, okay, you can stop bowing. It's really okay. Give her to me and go get the job."

"Here, take care of her well, please. I will come back soon, so behave, okay kittyni ?" Jungkook pressed his lips to the kitten's head.

"Don't worry, she will be fine." Hesitantly, Jungkook deposited the kitten into Jimin-hyung's waiting palms.

After Jimin took the cat and left, Jungkook walked to the boss's office. As he arrived, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door. The resulting echo resonated within his heart.
