C8 How Is She?
His hand gently rested on her face, feeling the smoothness of her skin. The name she had just called out echoed in his mind, and a shadow passed through his dark eyes, leaving him with an inexplicable discomfort.
Hearing the sound of high heels approaching from outside, Yujun withdrew his hand just as Lin Qing entered the room.
“Yujun, how is Xi doing?” Lin Qing asked anxiously, looking at Yih Tianxi lying on the hospital bed.
Yujun reassured Lin Qing with a few comforting words, explaining Tianxi's condition, which allowed Lin Qing to finally relax.
With a sympathetic glance at Tianxi, Lin Qing turned to Yujun and said, “Yujun, I’m counting on you to take care of Xi from now on. If she ever offends you in any way, please be patient with her.”
“She’s always been kind-hearted and never argued with anyone. But Heng’s death has been a huge shock to her, so please don’t hold it against her.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her,” Yujun replied solemnly, looking at Lin Qing with determination. “Su Heng was my best friend, and I would never break my promise to him.”
Reassured by Yujun’s promise, Lin Qing left with peace of mind.
When Tianxi woke up, Yujun was reviewing some documents. Seeing her awake, a smile appeared on his lips. “You’re awake.”
He then opened a thermos, poured a bowl of porridge, and after making sure it wasn’t too hot, brought it to her lips. His usually cool voice softened as he gently coaxed, “Here, have some. It’s your favorite chicken porridge.”
His voice was tender, almost indulgent, and his gaze was filled with warmth. For a moment, Tianxi felt as if the man before her was Su Heng. Looking into his dark eyes, she felt captivated, unable to resist his gentle care, and obediently opened her mouth, allowing him to feed her the porridge.
Setting the bowl aside, Yujun picked up an apple and began peeling it. His hands were steady, and the sharp knife seemed to come alive, swiftly gliding over the apple's surface. With a flick of his fingers, the entire peel fell away in one piece.
Tianxi watched in a daze as he cut the apple into small pieces, speared one with a toothpick, and brought it to her lips. His voice was gentle, "The doctor said you're severely lacking in nutrition. Have some fruit."
She ate a few pieces of apple he fed her, and perhaps some other fruit too, but she was too entranced to notice. Her eyes were fixed on him, on his dark, gentle eyes filled with warmth.
His handsome features seemed to overlap with another familiar face, making it impossible for her to look away. She was completely lost in his tenderness, everything else fading into the background.
When Tianxi awoke, daylight was streaming in. She turned her head slightly and saw Yujun's familiar, handsome face.
His features were sharply defined, even in sleep, with long, elegant eyebrows that seemed as if they could pierce right into one's heart, evoking a sense of awe. Yet, Tianxi felt no fear, only a smile spreading across her face as she watched him.
His usually neat hair was a bit tousled, and there was a hint of stubble on his chin, which only added to his charm rather than detracting from it.
Tianxi felt a pang of sympathy. These past few days, he had been by her side constantly. She had been so wrapped up in his gentle care that she had overlooked how tired he must be.
