C9 Accompanying Her

As a soldier, he was used to waking up early, but caring for her had worn him out, making him sleep in unusually late. Her hand gently brushed his face, and he woke up instantly, his eyes clear and alert. Once he confirmed there was no danger, his tense body relaxed, and the vigilance in his eyes softened into tenderness.

He took Yih Tianxi's hand, his voice a bit hoarse yet soothing, "Are you hungry? I'll go get us some breakfast."

With that, he got up to freshen up, but Tianxi tugged at his shirt. Surprised, he looked down and asked softly, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Tianxi shook her head, offering a sweet smile tinged with a bit of unease, "No, I'm fine. It's just... it feels like you're too good to me, like this isn't real."

Loong Yujun gazed at her, momentarily lost in thought. Her complexion had improved significantly, her skin smooth and delicate like fine porcelain. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders as she tilted her head, revealing small, shell-like ears.

Her lips, as delicate as rose petals, moved as she spoke, her bright eyes fixed earnestly on him. The gentle look in her eyes stirred something within him, adding a softness to his heart.

"Silly girl." Coming back to himself, he ruffled her hair, a gentle smile playing on his lips, his voice filled with affection, "Taking care of you is what I should do. If I didn't, then you should worry."

"Alright, stop overthinking. I'll go get breakfast. You stay here and wait for me. If the check-up at noon confirms you're fully recovered, you can be discharged today."

In the beginning, he took care of her because of a promise to Su Heng. But now, he genuinely wanted to care for her, to treat her well, and to see her always smiling happily.

"Okay." Tianxi nodded obediently, her voice soft and gentle, like the most docile little creature.

Afternoon.

Tianxi gazed out the window, frowning slightly, and asked Yujun beside her, "Where are you taking me?"

"Of course, I'm taking you to my place," Yujun replied matter-of-factly, his voice steady.

"What?" Tianxi exclaimed in surprise, looking at him with confusion. "Why are you taking me to your place? I want to go back to the Su family."

Yujun's eyes darkened at her words. He pulled the car over to the side of the road without saying a word, then turned to look at Tianxi.

He had hoped that over the past few days, she would have moved on from the shadow of Su Heng's passing. But she was still set on returning to the Su family.

"If you still want to go back to the Su family after reading this letter, I'll take you there," Yujun said, a hint of disappointment in his voice, as he handed her an envelope from his pocket.

"Tianxi, by the time you read this letter, I will have left with Su Heng's ashes. Don't try to find us; I won't let you see Su Heng again."

Staring at the elegant handwriting on the crisp white paper, Tianxi felt her world collapse. She tore off her seatbelt, pushed open the car door, and ran out.

"Tianxi!" Yujun, caught off guard, reached out to grab her but was too late. He hurriedly unbuckled his seatbelt and followed her.
