C5 CHAPTER 4

Sophomore Year

I had gotten closer to Lulani and Govad. I trusted them with my life. One day, I decided to show them my true self. No more hiding in front of them, no more secrets.

Currently, we are sitting in my bed reading fashion magazines. “Hey, guys. I need to tell you something. Beforehand, I’m sorry for keeping this from you. It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s just that I'm scared to get bullied again.” I said it without looking directly at them, feeling guilty.

“What’s up, A?” Asked Govad curiously.

“What happened, Azzie? I think you’re scaring us.” Said Lulani simultaniously.

Without saying anything, I just undisguised myself. Removing all my undercover equipment, which is wig, glasses, and contacts. For clothes, they already got used to how I dress outside school. Since my friends already knew my past, they didn’t ask any questions about clothes. As for my eyes and hair, I thought their souls leave their body for a second.

“What in the world just happened?” Said Govad.

“H-how? Y-you look so different.” Said Lulani, shocked.

“Is that bad?” I had become self-conscious and ready to put my wig back on.

“No, no, no Azzie. You look beautiful. I was really shocked because you look so different. I’m sorry for reacting like that.” Lulani said while panicking.

“Yes, A. You’re more gorgeous when you’re not wearing those things you called undercover. Oh my world, how lucky I am to have such a fine ass bestie.” Govad said jokingly.

“Oh my God, I thought I’m breaking our friendship apart. Thank you, guys” I nearly cried. Then, both of my best friends attacked me with their bear hugs. I was so grateful to have those people as my best friend. Well, I guessed we couldn’t get rid of each other that easily.

—————————#####—————————

In the mid of our sophomore year, we decided to join a club. I joined figure skating, Lulani joined cheerleading, and Govad joined football. This was one of the perks to study in such a prestigious school. They even had a rare club, such as figure skating.

Since joining a club, we’ve all been so busy with our regular practice. We’re still close with each other, but rarely meet each other. Now, we have our own friends outside our circle.

I liked my club and I liked to skate. Everyone in the club was supportive and kind, but no one was close to each other. We’re all single skating, only a few had become pair skating. So, our competitiveness was on a different level from any other sports.

As for Lulani, she was on the same team as Sabrina. Obviously, Lu got bullied every time and Sabrina tried to kick her out of the team. Oh, please. As if she could. Lulani was the best cheerleader that Santos High School ever had. On the bright side, she met a very nice girl, Seraphina. We sometimes hung out together at lunch time. I tell ya, people. She was crazy, wild, and fun. Seraphina was a medium tall girl with her gothic style. That’s why the popular girls in the cheerleading team always picked on her. They said a gothic girl couldn’t be a cheerleader. Well, guess what? The coach loves her so much. So, 2 points for us and 0 for Sabrina. Hehehe.

If you’re wondering about Govad. He’s fine. He fitted so well in the football club. He had a best friend who liked Lulani. His name was Lucero and he’s straight. Much to Govad’s disappointment. Lucero and Lulani knew each other from bio class. Hence, they’re not strangers to each other. From that point on, Lucero became part of our circle. I liked him, he’s nice and stood up for me and Lu once from his jerk friends. Let my ship sail for the double Lu. YEAY.

One word I could describe for Lucero was GIANT. He was so tall, muscular, and big for his age. He’s one year older like Govad than the rest of us but we’re all in the same grade. Lucero was a loyal, smart, obedient, and a hard working boy. Because of Lu, sometimes he’s so dumb and loves to humiliate himself. I had no words for him when he’s near Lu. AKA SPEECHLESS. Lu being Lu, she still hung Lucero’s feelings because she’s a very cautious girl. I didn’t want to force her, so I let her take her time with a little advice here and there. Let’s see how they progress together. Hopefully I can be their children’s godmother. OH MY GOD! I CAN’T WAIT, I’M SO EXCITED.
