C8 CHAPTER 7

“Huh? What do you mean today there’s no football practice?” I asked confusedly. We all were in the cafeteria, beside Govad. I did not know where he went. Probably boy hunting.

“Well, Lucero said that the coach was sick for 3 days. So, all practice has been postponed. Everyone in the football club should know that. Right, Lucero?” Asked Lulani. Wait a minute, so Cliford should know that too right? Could he be? No, no. That can’t be right. Do not overthink this Azzie. Maybe he has another urgent reason.

“Yeah, I haven’t practiced football for 3 days. I just went to the gym. So as Govad. Is something wrong, Azura?” Asked Lucero, suspiciously.

“Hmm, no. It’s just Clifton said later he can’t take me home because of football practice. But you said there’s no football practice. I just got a bad feeling for this.” I said sadly. And my feelings are always right.

Wow, it’s amazing that Mr. Birston aka my english teacher let us leave 30 minutes early. Before I went to Lulani’s locker, I had to buy coffee first because I felt so sleepy. The next thing I knew, I went to the nearest vending machine since the cafeteria was already closed. Lulani might want a coffee too, so I bought it for her too.

“Sorry for waiting, Azzie.” Said Lulani. I checked my watch and it showed 2.55 PM. Well, someone’s early. “Govad said he wants to come too to your house. We gotta wait for him for 5 more minutes.”

“Yeah, sure. Why not.” I shrugged. “By the way, I bought you coffee. I bought it from the vending machine near my locker. It’s a new product, so I want to try it. It doesn’t taste bad.” Telling Lulani what kind of coffee I just bought.

Before even Lulani could open her coffee, someone shouted from the end of the corridor. “Hey, girlies. Your favorite boy is here!” Oh, God. I was so embarrassed. Before we knew it, Govad sprinted over us. It’s our reflex to run too for our dear life.

While running, I crashed into someone and spilled my coffee on my t-shirt. “Opsie. Sorry.” I said to someone who crashed into me. “Govad, look what have you done.” I whined while looking at my coffee stained t-shirt.

“What? I didn’t do anything. You guys ran so I chased you.” Govad defended himself. Both me and Lulani gave him a death stare. “Fine, I’m sorry. I’ll help you clean the floor and you can change that stain t-shirt.”

Govad went to the janitor's closet while me and Lulani went to my locker to get changed in the gym's changing room. Luckily, I had spare clothes or else I’ll kill Govad for real. After changing into a new fresh t-shirt, we intended to go to the parking lot and wait for Govad there. However, we saw Sabrina tip-toeing to the boy's changing room. Feeling suspicious, we discreetly followed her. PEOPLE, I FELT SO COOL. LIKE A REAL SPY. MAYBE I SHOULD BECAME ONE.

In the mid of our mission, we ran into Govad. “Wait, what are you doing here? You’re supposed to wait for us at the parking lot. I texted you like 10 minutes ago.” Asked Lulani.

“Look, who’s talking.” Said Govad, rolling his eyes. Ugh, why did they always have to fight each other? “I saw Clifton bring a woman's clothes to the boy's changing room. From what I heard from Lucero, I conclude that’s not A’s clothes. I felt sus, so I followed him and ran into you. Satisfied?” Explained Govad. The last question was meant for Lulani who was as annoyed as Govad earlier.

Huh. What a coincidence. Or not. “We saw Sabrina tip-toed to the boy’s changing room. That’s why we decided to follow her. Could it be a coincidence?” I asked warily.

“No.” Answered both of my friends. Wow, I really had supportive besties. Please, note my sarcasm. Finally, we found a good hiding spot behind the wall. We could see either Sabrina or Cliford, but they couldn’t see us. However, it’s not a blind spot either so they still could discover us.

“Honeyy! I miss you so much.” We heard Sabrina’s screeching voice. We started to peak over them. If someone saw us, they would think we looked like a long-neck turtle. We’re really stretching our neck since the wall could only cover us a little.

“Hey, sweetie. Sorry for making you wait.” That’s Cliford’s voice. Ugh, that was disgusting. Cringey to the max.

At this moment, I was so speechless. How could he do this to me? What did I ever do to deserve this? My blood was boiling this instance, but at the same time I wanted to cry so bad. Both of my friends looked at me with pity and sadness. I didn’t want people to pity me. So, I looked away and took my phone out. PEOPLE, LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING! AS MUCH AS YOU SAD AND ANGRY, DON’T BE STUPID. DON’T LET YOUR EMOTION GET THE BEST OF YOU. I took their picture for proof and started to record it. I felt like liford would deny it when I confronted him later. Maybe I was stupid after all.

“Did anyone know we’re here?” Said Sabrina in alert.

“No. I even dumped Azura just for you. I said I couldn’t take her home because I have football practice. In reality, the coach has been sick for 3 days.” After Cliford said that, he and Sabrina laughed evilly.

Then, Sabrina hugged and kissed Cliford. Ewww, I shared a kiss with someone else. Hopefully, I didn’t get any diseases from them. “Oh, honey you’re the best. When are you going to break up with that witch Azura?” Said Sabrina. WHAT DID SHE JUST CALLED ME. I wanted to smack that bitch’s ass so bad.

“Soon, sweety. Real Soon.” Said Cliford. Suddenly, he got down on one of his knees. Holding a t-shirt, probably the one Govad said earlier, and said “Sweety, will you go to the prom and make me the happiest boy alive?” I was so shocked. I thought he’s going to propose to me. I’ve been waiting for that moment my entire life. I couldn’t bear to hear the rest of their conversation.

“Let’s go.” I said without looking back. Somehow I still could hear Sabrina’s answer. Yeah, you probably already knew the answer so I did not need to repeat her answer.
