C14 Not Interested

Li Ruyan was in the restroom, embarrassed that her boss had seen her look like a walking ghost. She applied concealer to hide the undereye circles. Her colleagues were the type to gossip over a lot of things. Nothing escaped their eyes or ears. And they also kept a tight watch on Li Ruyan since she was their CEO's secretary.

Even if Chen Zhelan was not interested in a relationship and still enjoyed the life of a single dog as well as a wealthy CEO, there were still a lot of people who wanted to hook up with him. This elusive big fish in the business circle was a golden bachelor with great looks and wealth behind his name.

Which woman would not want to be with a guy like him?

Many times, her colleagues would often ask her if their CEO was gay since he did not even glance at Li Wenwen, one of their coworkers who were both pretty and cute. The woman always likes to dress up, flaunting her looks and good temperament just to catch their CEO's attention. Compared to Li Ruyan who was very professional, Li Wenwen had no problem leading the mean, letting them chase after her only to dump them or reject them because her eyes were already set on Chen Zhelan.

There was even a rumor that the only reason that Li Wenwen applied for a job under Chen Zhelan's company was to get close to him!

This was certainly true since Li Wenwen wears her ambition on her shoulders. The others were used to it by now and would sometimes gossip about the woman. Li Ruyan strayed clear of Li Wenwen and she always kept a formal distance between her and the CEO as to not give the girl any bad ideas. She had also told everyone that she already has a boyfriend.

Now, even if she no longer has one, she was not about to tell that she was single again because no doubt, Li Wenwen would make trouble for her since she would be seen as a love rival.

Even if Li Ruyan was not interested in Chen Zhelan, to Li Wenwen, Li Ruyan was an enemy since Chen Zhelan was very nice to her and was able to hold a proper conversation with her, in and out of work.

Despite the number of times that she told them that she only has the CEO's number was because she was his secretary, no one believed her and would always make jokes that the CEO fancied Li Ruyan.

'No. CEO Chen just broke up with his fiancée and is not in the mood for a new relationship. I also told him that I have a boyfriend before and it isn't like he would be interested in someone like me.' Li Ruyan thought while pushing her makeup inside her bag.

Her phone rang and she went to check its contents.

When Li Ruyan saw the message on her phone, her eyes dimmed. Even if she blocked his number, Min Yue still have other ways to contact her since he could just get himself a new number. Then there was PA Ren too.

Min Yue was asking to meet up with her after work. Her grip tightened on the phone. She would have agreed to it since it was not easy to get over the love she has for the man who has been there for almost half a decade of her life. But Min Yue had to mention CEO Yang's birthday party.

He reminded her to attend it with him and to apologize to Miss Yang and CEO Yang for her improper words at the restaurant. This was like a slap to Li Ruyan's face when she was expecting to talk with Min Yue properly about what is going on with him and that Miss Yang. Her heart was full of bitterness while rereading the message over and over again.

Li Ruyan was an educated woman and did not break down easily. When faced with a situation like this, she did not cry immediately like other women who were heads over heels with their ex-boyfriends and could not move on immediately.

Li Ruyan exhaled shakily, biting down on her bottom lip as she tapped her fingers on the counter, her makeup kit long forgotten. Then she hurriedly fixed herself, blocked the number again, and went back to work as if nothing happened.

When Chen Zhelan saw her entering his office, he raised a brow but she knew that he was now satisfied with her appearance and her 'panda eyes' had disappeared from his sight thanks to the help of her concealer.

She checked her appearance at the glass window again just for sure. When she heard a small laugh, she turned around to see her boss grinning at her as if staring at a clown.

Li Ruyan fixed her expression. "CEO Chen, have you checked the proposals I sent to you the other day? Today, you have lunch with CEO Lu and would talk about the conjoined project between our company and theirs. Then after that, you have a meeting with the board of directors and would..." Once Li Ruyan started her business mode, Chen Zhelan also did the same. His face became serious and all traces of goofiness disappeared as he nodded at her, listening to his schedule.

Li Ruyan had opened one of the drawers and delivered the files to him. She checked a few of them just in case she did not get it wrong then they were promptly handed off to her boss who was then immersed in his job.

Li Ruyan felt sorry for the admirers of her boss. This man was only interested in his career and to add to that, he had recently broken up with his fiancée, of course, he wouldn't be interested in a relationship. He would be busy putting himself back up before finding new love.

Like her boss, Li Ruyan was planning to do the same. Even though she wanted to cry so badly and go to Min Yue right now, demand that she leave that Yang Shiwei, Li Ruyan remained in the office and acted like usual, not showing any ounce of weakness.
