C3 Chapter 2

You'd think they will let her the pack slave prepare food for the guests... Of course not, Alpha Darlington had a clear instruction for the ceremony, 'only pack Omegas may touch or prepare the food made for the Ceremony, I don't want them smelling a slave or they'll take it that we treat them poorly.' those were his exact words

Despite being relieved of her duties on to the upcoming activities, Star had an unsettling in the pit of her stomach, she couldn't get her thought on it but she also did not let it bother her.

After she had swept and mopped the house clean, she went to the kitchen to do the dishes which the Alpha and Beta just left while the laundry was getting done in the laundry room. She scrubbed the sink and scraped the pot bottoms, after which she went to fold the laundry.

It was past 10 pm before She sighed in satisfaction at her job well done. She lazily walked to her basement room retiring for the night.

* * *

'she was running at an amazing speed and she felt a feeling that wasn't familiar to her in a long time, she felt Free. She couldn't feel sweat or being tired, she was enjoying her race. A glance at her surroundings you could tell that she was in the woods and sounds of running water could be heard nearby. . . A stream was up ahead. Propping herself forward she ran towards the water because water was life and she needed life. Crouching down to take a sip, she stepped back in fright at her reflection in the clear water, what was that about? She slowly approached the water and was greeted by the sight of a Dark Brown wolf staring back at her with almost burgundy colored eyes a shade of thick brown in them. The wolf was beautiful and she reached out to touch it's reflection in water and realized that she didn't have hands but paws. What was happening to her? Before she could comprehend the question, give herself an answer or sense the approaching figure, Star was slammed into the stream, cold water hitting her back as she whimpered.' She gasped for air sitting up in her bed awake from her nightmare just as another bucket of cold water splashed on her.

Looking up at the blonde girl who dared to treat her this way, Star almost cursed at Brie, an Omega who was very annoying as it seems and she was the only omega of this pack who taunted Star a lot. She stared down at Star with anger evident in her eyes

"You can't really be more ungrateful, will you still sit there enjoying the cold showers or will you go get breakfast ready? I just took my time to wake you up and all you can do is glare at me?" She snarled.

Star hadn't realized she was glaring until the last question. She sighed a faint 'sorry' passing her lips, Brie hissed and stormed out of the small room giving Star some time to change, while muttering words along the lines of "no one wants to eat food prepared by someone who smells like a wet dog."

Brie looked at her reflection in the mirror, Her brown hair was long and her eyes were sad. Today was her 17th birthday but no one knew and even if, they wouldn't care.

She didn't remember ever celebrating it only that she was with her mum always. Tears threatened to spill, but she wouldn't cry because she was strong. She had only had a cake once in her life and on till now that she was a slave, she hadn't tasted a single morsel.

Remembering that she was to make breakfast, she quickly changed her clothes and brushed her hair and teeth before hurrying to the kitchen.

She made bacon, toasts and eggs for breakfast and after setting it on the table, proceeded to distributing the already done laundry from the previous day all along ignoring the burning sensation and pain coursing through her body.

At midnight, Star woke up to a sharp pain in her spine. She dashed to the bathroom as it shot through her again as if sending a signal to her brain. A very painful signal.

She washed her face and raising her head up to stare at the half mirror which she had happened to pick up a month back, she looked at her reflection as it stared at her too but only her eyes were different. The eyes staring back at her were not her usual large Brown eyes but a very dark shade of gold.

Bending down to wash her face just to be sure, but her eyes had returned to normal. She decided to go back to sleep.

She couldn't. The pain was too much and now her hearing had heightened. Her sense of smell too.

Then she realized what was happening to her. She had often heard about it from the pack members, happy parents and siblings or friends or just random pack members. She heard of this process, it was very painful. She had heard about it, the transformation. Then she knew... She was shifting.

Her temperature had picked up in the last hour and she couldn't do anything about it as the pack doctor had never done a check up on her so she had no drugs.

She had a serious fever, but she knew it wasn't.

She was used to pain since she came into this pack, her hands had been broken before and she had fixed it herself a day later after realizing that no doctor or pack member would help her so the pain in her spine and joints wasn't really bothering her apart from the occasional sharp one that seemed to be moving from her head to her waist.

Since no one in the pack knew that she had Alpha genes, she decided that she wasn't going to shift in their presence. She then sneaked out of the house careful not to make a sound due to everybody already being wolves.

Due to her increased hearing and right before she walked out of the house, she could tell that somewhere in the house, someone was being brought to ecstasy.

Making her way to the woods in the very quiet night, Star prayed in her heart for the moon goddess to protect her from being discovered. The leaves rustled underneath her bare feet as she made her way deeper into the woods. She could hear crickets and frogs, she could also hear the buzzing in the wings of the insects. More pain was coursing through her and she really wanted relief. It wasn't supposed to take much time to shift, but it had been two hours of pain and she had not transformed.

Sitting down under a tree, She prayed that it shouldn't last till dawn because the Ceremony starts by Noon. Everyone would be very busy and she didn't want to risk being seen. By this time, she had already slipped of her garment and crouched to her knees as a more excruciating pain shot through her entire body leaving her weak for some seconds then very faintly, she heard the cracking of bones.

'hello Star' . . .

She had begun to panic, thinking that someone had discovered her as she heard the voice.

'don't panic Star, I'm inside you'

'Who are you?'

'I'm your Wolf half, My name is Monalisa'

'how are you talking to me?'

'Relax, Star. I can hear your thoughts just as you can hear mine. I'll guide you in some aspects of your life as time comes.'

'ok, thank you'

'its ok, I'm very much glad to help my human half, so now Star let's take our first run. I'll guide you'

... And she did. She took her first steps as a wolf, starting out wobbly before she eventually took off running and she couldn't explain her feeling at that moment. It was a feeling that was lost to her, something she hadn't experienced in a long time.

She felt Free.
