C5 The Cute Little Bun.

Renee's heart was about to melt. She squatted down and patted the little bun's head.

"Of course, you have to wait here obediently for auntie!"

The little bun nodded and reluctantly let go of his hand.

Fortunately, there was a pharmacy not far away. After Renee bought iodophor and band-aid, she also bought a lollipop.

She put the little bun on the bench by the roadside and squatted on the ground to disinfect him. "It might be a little painful, auntie will give you some sugar, okay? It won't hurt if you eat it."

The little bun took the lollipop and held it in his mouth. He sat up straight, and his dark eyes were no longer watery. He looked at her without moving, as if he was afraid she would run away.

Renee had never treated a child with such a small wound before. It had taken her ten minutes to deal with something that could have been done in a few seconds. She was careful with every action, afraid that she would hurt him.

At the entrance of the building, when Jared was calling his subordinates to continue looking for the young master, the figure in front of him stopped. The cold air around him seemed to be melted by the blazing sun. "There's no need to look."

Not far away, a woman was kneeling on one knee. She was concentrating on her work, her long hair softly sticking to her face.

Under the sunlight, her skin was covered in a layer of pink. It was crystal clear, and her long eyebrows were slightly furrowed. She applied medicine to her palm and gently exhaled.

Renee was just about to stand up when a slender and strong hand held her arm.

Her legs were indeed a little numb from squatting for too long. She borrowed the strength to stand up and said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Why did this voice sound so familiar?

Renee subconsciously raised her eyes. The man in front of her had cold features and frosty eyes. There was no warmth in his dark eyes. He was dressed in a black suit, but the only thing that was lacking was the wrinkles on his right sleeve.

She didn't know if this person had a cooling function, but just by standing there, the heat that had lingered around her disappeared without a trace.

Renee didn't expect that not only was his voice so pleasant to listen to, but he was also so good-looking. Unfortunately...

It was a little cold.

Suddenly, her knees felt a little itchy.

Renee lowered her head and saw the little bun jump down from the chair. He was holding a small towel and wiping the dust off her knees.

Renee's heart was instantly touched.

Just as she was about to hug him, a cold and hard voice sounded, "I remember telling you not to run around in unfamiliar places."

The little bun shrank behind her and grabbed her hand with his small hands. He looked like he didn't want to face her.

Only then did Renee realize that the man was talking to the little bun.

There was only silence in the air.

She stood in the middle of the room, feeling as if the flames of war were about to spread to her body.

"Ahem... He must be lost. It's good that you're fine. Are you his family?"

"I don't know him." A soft voice came from behind her. He grabbed her even tighter and waved his small hand, as if urging her to leave.

Renee felt a little awkward. This man didn't look like a human trafficker. They had just been through a lot together in the elevator.

But then again, one shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Wasn't it said online that a girl saw a handsome man on the street and couldn't help but follow him? In the end, she found out that he was stealing something.

It was better to be more careful.

After thinking for a moment, she slowly said, "Sir, I'm sorry. If you can't show me the proof of your relationship with this child, I won't let you take him away."

Harlan's thin lips were cold. His gaze became even more seductive as he looked at the little bun behind her. "I won't punish you if you go back now. Otherwise, you won't be able to go out for a month."

The little bun seemed to be struggling. After hesitating for a moment, he turned around and hugged Renee's leg without letting go.

Harlan looked at him calmly, but his tone was a little more seductive. "Do you know that it's a crime to hug a girl's leg on the street without permission?"

The little bun's subconscious loosened, but he still pursed his lips tightly. His eyes were filled with determination.

Renee was at a loss for words.

Could she interrupt them?

Harlan pressed his temples and said, "How do you want to do this?"

The little bun finally expressed his intentions. "Auntie, let's go home together."

"No."

The little bun pouted and looked like he was about to cry.

"Xiao Qibai, you were the one who did something wrong today, not me." He was implying that he would not agree to his rudeness.

Renee felt that if she did not say anything, the two of them would not be able to come to a conclusion even if it was dark.

She bent down on one knee and squatted in front of the little bun. She rubbed his curly hair and said sweetly, "Little cutie, you have to be good. Auntie has her own home. I can't go home with you. Look, the sky is about to turn dark. If you don't go home, Mom and Dad will be worried about you. So, listen to Auntie. If you know this uncle, why don't you go with him?"

The little bun's eyes showed signs of struggle. After a moment, he leaned forward and kissed her cheek. "Darren has stamped his seal. Auntie will be mine from now on. You can't like other kids anymore." He looked at his father cautiously and added, "You can't be a big friend either."

This was the first time Renee had heard him say such a long string of words. Moreover... it made her dizzy!

At such a young age, she had a bright future ahead of her.

Renee finally coaxed the little bun to sleep, then stood up and looked at the expressionless man. She asked tentatively, "Sir, may I ask if you are this child's..."

From the looks of it, they must have known each other, so there was no possibility that he was a human trafficker.

However, it was better to ask about the specific relationship first, so she would be more at ease.

Harlan's thin lips parted slightly and he spat out two words: "Father."

No wonder their personalities were so similar. Neither of them was willing to back down.

"I'm sorry. Just now, Darren said that he didn't know you, so I asked a few more questions."

"It's fine."

Renee rubbed her nose and said goodbye to them, "Then I'll be leaving first. Bye."

Darren waved his hand reluctantly, but he didn't say anything.

The moment Renee turned around, she felt a little empty in her heart.

He was just a child who had only met for less than half an hour, but she felt as if they had known each other for a long time.

She felt a little... unwilling.

She took a deep breath and quickened her pace.

When her figure disappeared from her sight, Harlan asked indifferently, "Is that enough?"

Xiao Qibai turned around and said angrily, "Why can't Auntie come home with me?"

"Didn't she tell you?"

"But I like her. Didn't Auntie Lyda say that the person she likes should live together?"

Harlan's expression did not change, "Maybe she doesn't like you."

Darren felt as if he had just suffered a huge blow. The corner of his mouth twitched, and his eyes immediately became watery. It was as if he was about to cry in the next second.
