C33 Back to the Village
They were just outside the streets to Erlu when Zhan Peng recognised the man who had gone up to them. Yuxi collapsed in his arms in a deep hug, calling forth the jealousy in his heart.
Yang Tian was his brother, but seeing his lover hug his brother was more than he could handle.
But with what the bandit leader had just revealed, he just felt a stinging pain in his heart. And so, he took no action to separate them, and continued being cold to Yuxi.
“Let’s go back to the village where it’s safe.”
He purposely made his voice sound as cold as ever, and he was sure Yuxi heard him loud and clear, but she was focused on Yang Tian instead. The wound in his heart just stung harder. Yang Tian had his arm on his woman’s shoulder and she wasn’t even bothered to take him off her.
“I’m so glad you’re fine, Yang Tian!” she shouted excitedly.
After the near-death experiences they were through, she expressed such happy emotions. And it was all because of his sworn brother.
To recall that she had put herself in so much danger because of another man just infuriated him further, but Zhan Peng was an expert at hiding his emotions. He just smiled coldly, and gestured for them to enter the village’s gates.
They returned to the cottage, and to his surprise, a young woman greeted him happily. He last saw Yonghe hurt and collapsed on the ground unconscious, but now, she seemed to have recovered beautifully.
In addition, she was wearing a short cultural dress that ended above her knees. Zhan Peng knew she was a courtesan, and that she was after more than just money from him. In the past, she had made numerous attempts to get his attention but only received the opportunity to become a hired actress. And that was the night that he had bedded Yuxi after their first sexual encounter.
His anger riddled him, preventing him from thinking straight. Yonghe was hugging him so hard that in that instant, he decided it didn’t matter if he hugged her back.
Yuxi didn’t flinch when he did. But instead of saying anything, she just smiled, and continued conversing with Yang Tian if that was the most important thing in her life.
This made Zhan Peng simply angrier. He looked down at the girl’s exposed cleavage, and a malicious thought manifested in his mind.
He whispered to Yonghe to spend the night with him and she agreed readily. There was no romantic stuff between them, no flowers and no wine. He understood that she was just a prostitute, and even if he used her to comfort himself, as long she got a handsome sum of money, it barely mattered.
Worse, Yuxi hadn’t even said anything to stop him when he left with Yonghe. Neither had she chased after them.
This just added to Zhan Peng’s belief that Yuxi had indeed fallen victim to Booyeong’s guards’ defilation, but she hadn’t come clean with him about it. How could she?
“Take off your clothes,” he ordered monotonously.
Yonghe just did as she was told to. There was no chemistry between them, and when he slammed his lips on hers, she didn’t make a sound or any move to stop him. Even when he pushed the woman beneath him and took her wildly, all she did was let out a few soft moans. He started increasing the force of his thrusts, and in his madness he called her Yuxi.
When he was done, she just lay still watching him carefully.
“What’s your problem?” He looked away immediately, annoyed by her beady eyes.
“You addressed me with another woman’s name when we did the deed.”
He could feel Yonghe’s eyes on him, but he ignored them. “That’s not your concern. You did what you came for, so take the money and go!”
He shouted so loudly that the door shook from the force of his shouts.
“Warrior Zhan, I’m not going to leave.” The filthy woman linked arms with him. “The more you try to push me away, the more I am not leaving.”
He couldn’t believe his ears. The woman he just paid to relieve the tension between him and Yuxi was taking it as if she was someone entitled in his life. He hated women like those. Back in Longsu, he remembered having such women in his bed once, but they weren’t even a consort to begin with. Just because they slept with him once, they thought they were worthy. He had banished them from his quarters.
He pulled his clothes on and got up from the bed abruptly. Yonghe looked at him hopefully.
“Warrior Zhan, you can’t resist me, can you?” She implored with eyes that would appear sexy to another man, but to him, her efforts were worthless. She had served her purpose, so she needed to leave!
“Get out!” He opened the door and tossed Yonghe and her robes outside. “Don’t you ever think of getting into my bed again!”
“You’ll regret it!” Yonghe put on her clothes and left the area. Wordlessly he stepped out of his quarters and pranced outside, observing the surroundings.
He passed Yuxi and Yang Tian, who were conversing happily under the bright moonlight. Before he could steal away, they noticed him.
“Zhan…Peng,” he heard her mumble his name, as if she was a thief being caught red-handed.
He couldn’t fathom how she had just killed their relationship by going with his brother, hours after they had their last intercourse. Maybe it had been a day since they last did it. But seeing her reaction to see him safe and sound, and how happy she was with him, made him just feel more rotten inside.
And using another woman to relieve himself of his neediness just didn’t help. He just wanted to hear her say that she didn’t sleep with those men and she wanted him.
But those words never came. Instead, he heard her telling him of how glad she was that Yang Tian had made some recovery after losing his ability to fight. She was assured that in no time, he would make a full recovery, so for now, they couldn’t move on to their next mission since the two of them weren’t strong enough to handle the demon invasion on their own.
“So, what do you want, Employer?” He asked her coldly, watching her calm expression evolve into a painful look. “That we postpone the next stage of our mission until he gets his powers back, or we find a substitute for the time being?”
She was horrified by his words, and hurriedly hugged Yang Tian to console him.
Right, neither of them were shocked at how his words could be so straightforward. But Yang Tian just brushed her off.
“I’ll be fine. You can’t dilly dally just because of me. I’ll be back to normal soon.”
All of a sudden, there was the familiar sound of horse hooves earlier, accompanied by heavy footsteps, and Yuxi’s eyes widened in alarm. He knew the inevitable had happened. It was the two of them along with the mediocre fighting abilities of the village, including their hosts who were just average farmers. Given their situation, their chances of winning were slim.
But he was mentally prepared for an exhausting battle. He just never expected it would be so soon. He just had a hearty sexual encounter with Yonghe, and Yuxi’s intimacy with Yang Tian drained him mentally.
“Wait. There’s another party coming,” Yuxi stated blankly. Sure enough, a man came galloping over on his horse, striking down the enemies in his path with such agility and expertise that Yuxi kept cheering on.
As the figure came closer, Zhan Peng recognised him almost immediately.
This man, definitely, was no hero at all. If he had to call him the devil, he would.
Without thinking, Yuxi had charged towards the battlefield to assist, seemingly blinded by her admiration for the man who had once almost brought on her demise.
