C14 A black sword and a family briefing

In the morning, after breakfast, Kevin, Daniel, and the twins went to school leaving the Bryce, Cashel, Kyra,Jason and Carter to train all day with Charles.

Of course they complained at first, who would want to go to school when they could stay home and train to become stronger, but Charles didn't even consider them staying home so they had no choice but to go.

Bryce and his friends had now gathered in the grand foyer of the mansion with Charles. He said he had something to show Carter. The things he wanted to show Carter had to do with his powers so it peaked the interest of the others.

"Oh! I almost forget", Charles said as he went to his study and soon came back with a small wooden box in his hands.

He opened it in front of Jason and said, "Choose one!".

Jason looked inside the box and saw that it had two compartments. On the left was an expensive looking watch, a necklace and some rings; they all looked expensive. Aside from that none of them seemed to be finished yet. They had spaces left to be filled by precious rocks which seemed to be what the small deep blue stones perfectly arranged in the right compartment were for.

Jason picked a ring of his choice.

"Excellent!", Charles said as he handed the box to Bryce.

"You see those blue stones?", Charles said.

He continued, "They are called lapis lazuli or for short, lapis. They are semi-precious stone that can be used to make jewelleries and ornaments. But for a witch from a long and powerful bloodline like us, it is known for being the key material for making a daylight ornaments which could let a vampire walk freely during the day when enhanced by magic".

The their eyes went wide when they heard the latter part of Charles' words. Daywalking vampires were a possibility? The kids were astounded when they heard this.

"You'll probably find a page in your grimoire and spellbook and then you're gonna make a daylight ring for Jason. That's the task for both of you", Charles said to Bryce and Jason.

"Follow me", Charles said to Kyra, Cashel and Carter.

The trio followed him to the basement without asking any questions 'cause they couldn't wait to see the things Charles was talking about.

Bryce first when up to get his spellbook and grimoire before going to the living room with Jason to start making the daylight ring.

*****

The basement was where Charles was where Charles usually teaches Bryce and his brothers spell. The basement was filled with shelves of books about magic, magic theories, some magical artefacts and even grimoires Charles had gathered throughout the years.

Charles went to one of the shelves which was fully stacked. He went through the shelves as if he was looking for a particular book which he easily found because it was the odd one out of all the stacked on that particulars shelf. Charles slightly pulled the book and in turn , the shelf let out a grumbling sound as it slowly shifted to the side, revealing a secret room.

The room was actually an armoury. On the wall were several row of perfectly arranged long swords, short swords, Katanas, knives, daggers, bows and arrows and even crossbows and wooden stakes and etcetera. Apart from those, there were also four glass shelves which contained several kinds of fire arms and guns like riffles, pistols, shotguns, revolver, carbine etc and each had suitable bullets. Apart from the normal bullets, there were also wooden bullets, silver bullets and other special bullets suitable for hunting various Supernatural creatures.

Seeing this, the trio opened their eyes and mouth as they tried to take in the view. They didn't know whether to feel amazed or frightened when they were surrounded by so many lethal weapons.

"Woah!", Cashel exclaimed.

"This is sick", Jason said.

"Yeah! Cool right?", Charles said with a smile.

"Do you even use any of these?", Kyra asked.

"Well, not all of them are mine", Charles said.

"Then who owns all these?", Carter asked.

"Most of them belonged your grandfather, Luis De León. Then, they were passed down to your father. He added more to the collection until he couldn't keep all of them so gave them to me to keep them for him. And now these are all yours...", Charles explained. "...well, except those that are mine".

"Huh!", Carter said.

Carter was actually not surprised. He had found out that his dead grandfather had these supernatural powers that he used to hunt down and kill supernatural creatures which was passed down to his father and then unto him. Finding out that his father owns a room full of weapons wasn't really a surprise.

"Okay! Grab some weapons you think suits you the best and let's get started", Charles said.

They looked around for a while before they chose their weapons. Cashel chose a single dagger. It had red edges and was 12 inches long. Kyra chose these really beautiful twin dagger that were 10 inches each. Jason chose a gun. A Glock 17 to be specific. And Carter chose...Carter just wanted to try all of them. There was a crossbows hanging behind his back, a katana, two daggers and a gun hanging on his waist and a short sword in his hand.

Seeing that he still had on had free, Carter started to search for another weapon to occupy it. He looked around and his eyes landed on one particular short sword. It was 15 inches long with four edges instead of two and had a pointed tip. The sword was completely black in colour and there were these runes engraved around the hilt and around its circular cross-guard.

The longer Carter looked at the short sword, the more he felt drawn to it. He slowly walked towards the short sword and slowly raised his hand to touch it.

He immediately let it go when he touched it. The sword fell to the ground with a clank.

"Dude! What wrong?", Cashel asked.

"Oh! I-I just dropped this sword", Carter said.

He looked at the other weapons he had in him. "I'll try these out later", he said as he put them back from where took them from.

He looked at the black sword in the floor and again he felt drawn to it. He had this impulse to pick it up. He slowly walked up to the sword and squatted and tried to pick it up. The more closer his hand got to the black sword, the more his heartbeat rose. His hand touched it and at that moment nothing in the world mattered for what he was feeling inside was just epic.

Immediately when picked up the black sword, he could that this unknown part of him which lock away was suddenly unlocked. It felt like a great weight had been lifted off him and he could feel so powerful that he could literally run a marathon without getting tired. This feeling was just so great that he couldn't stop smiling out of excitement. He had never felt so great after holding a weapon.

Charles pressed a secret button behind one of the glass shelves and another hidden room opened. By the looks of it, this one was a martial arts training room. It was quite a large room.

"Just how many hidden rooms are there?", Cashel asked.

"How big do you think my mansion is?", Charles asked.

"Well, it's pretty big", Cashel said.

"So how many hidden rooms do you think are there", Charles answered Cashel's question with another question.

*****

In the living room of the mansion, both Bryce and Jason were busy flipping through the thick old looking books in their hands trying to find the spell and procedure for making daylight ornaments...

...well Bryce was the was busy flipping through his grimoire trying to find a page about how to make daylight ornaments while Jason was having a hard time even understanding half the stuff written in the book. More than half of the book was written in a language he couldn't even read.

"Can you even read these?", Jason asked.

"Of course", Bryce answered.

"Then since these books are yours and you can read them, shouldn't you know it's content?", Jason asked.

"I barely even know a quarter of its content", Bryce laughed.

"Then how long have you had them?", Jason asked.

"A few months ago, when I started practicing magic", Bryce said.

"Huh! Only a few months ago? I thought you were from 'long and powerful bloodline of witches'. Then how come you only started practicing magic only a few months ago? Shouldn't you have started when you were younger?", Jason asked.

"Well, until a few months ago I didn't even think magic was real so how in the world was I going to start practicing it", Bryce laughed.

"How didn't you know about magic when your whole family are witches?", Jason looked at Bryce with a confused gaze.

"Well, both of our parents were killed when we were young and since then we lived with our grandmother, who could be annoyingly overprotective sometimes", Bryce said.

After saying this he further explained to Jason about what he knew about his family, he even told him a few things about the five gems and how each of the five brothers were in possession of one.
