C10 Thank you
The first thing that flashed through Alice’s mind was ‘handsome’ when she saw Devon standing at the door. His enchanting eyes held captive. It was a deep blue color. The height difference between them was significant, with him towering over her. He had curly dark hair that wasn’t long or short, putting it simply. He was stunning.
He walked into the room and closed the door. “How are you?” He asked with a smile on his face that warmed Alice’s heart. Devon moved closer, and Alice reacted instinctively. She moved back.
Out of the blue, he drew her into a tight embrace, surprising Alice. She tried to free herself from his muscle arm, but her effort was useless as he only held her tighter.
Her peculiar scent wafted across his nose. It made him calm. Devon felt vulnerable, but powerful. The feeling was overwhelming and foreign, but he loved it.
A spark lit up from the skin contact between them and Alice felt it, too. Being in his arms felt right. Devon experienced a feeling of completeness, as if he had found a missing piece that had been lost for centuries. The feeling was serene.
Alice finally regained her senses and yelled,
“Let me go!” and he finally released her from the tight embrace.
“Who are you?” She asked him, fear visible in her eyes. She was in a defensive mood.
“You don’t need to be scared,” Devon assured, moving closer to her, but she backed away again, putting a vast gap between them.
“Where am I? What happened?” She inquired, with a question on her face.
“You are my mate,” Devon said simply. This made Alice stare at him, more confused than ever. “Mate?” She asked in bewilderment.
“Yes, my mate,” He declared, his smile becoming wider.
“He must be crazy,” Alice mumbled. That was the only thing she could think of. She had no idea what he meant by a mate.
“Were you the one who saved me?” She asked curiously.
“Yes,” He replied.
“You must be hungry,” He added. Devon walked out of the room before Alice could say anything. He came back a few minutes later with two women. One of them held a tray of food in her hands.
Her stomach growled when the delightful aroma of the food wafted across her nose. She was famished, and the food looked appealing. Alice swallowed, glancing at the mouth-watering food.
“Have breakfast first, after that, we can talk”. Devon suggested as he waited for her response.
She looked skeptical at first, but nodded in agreement after a minute. If he saved her, he wouldn’t poison her, she concluded.
Alice let out a sigh, she felt reluctant to eat more, as Devon sat watching her as she took each bite from the food. It felt really strange; him sitting down to watch her eat. She was used to eating by herself. She couldn’t take his piercing gaze anymore.
“I’m done. Thank you for the food,” she said, dropping her spoon.
She forced a smile.
“Could you explain to me what happened now?” She continued, looking at him with curious eyes.
Devon noticed every feature about her. Her eyes were golden and wavy. She had graphite gray eyes, which could hold someone captive in them. Her skin was no longer pale like the night before, but the red mark on her neck was still visible. It made his blood boil. He wanted to rip anyone who hurt her apart.
“I’ve told you already, I went to your house because you are my mate,” He said simply, making Alice only more confused.
“I don’t understand what you mean by that" she said, looking at him, it didn't look like he was crazy to her, he looked perfectly normal. But she had no idea why he went on about her being his mate. She decided it was time for her to take her leave.
"I want to thank you for saving me. It’s time for me to leave” Alice stood up ready to leave, she waltzed straight to the door until Devon stopped her from walking any further.
“I can’t let you leave after what happened, and you are my mate,” He tried to explain to her.
Alice sighed deeply. Did he mean soul mate? Even though why her? How did he find her? , what was he? how did he know she was in trouble?. Different questions swirled in her mind"
"Sir, I'm really confused right now," she started to say, but He interrupted her.m
“I’m Devon, you can call me that”.
“Umm, Mr. Devon. Like I just said, I’m really confused. I woke up in an unfamiliar place and was taken by a stranger, no offense, I'm very grateful” she continued.
“You are not helping me understand…” Alice stopped when she noticed Devon didn’t look like he was listening to her. He was staring at with a piercing gaze that made her nervous, she looked away from him breaking their eye contact.
She sighed again, a little frustrated. Her mind wandered back to the man who tried to kill her, Alice remembered him strangling her and them, she heard a loud noise and then she was free from his grip.
“What happened to him?” She finally asked, was the man dead? Alice really hoped he was.
Devon’s look became serious when she asked about her attacker.
“He got away,” Devon answered. He wanted to rip the bastard into tiny pieces for hurting her.
Alice’s heartbeat increased when she heard Devon’s words. Was he going to come back to finish her off? She wondered. Why wasn’t her life ever normal? Anytime it was finally becoming normal, something bizarre always happened.
Devon heard her heart rate increase out of fear. He wanted to hug her and assure her that she was safe here.
Alice’s hands reached out unconsciously to her neck. She still remembered how it felt when he strangled her. And his eyes were golden. She already knew that he wasn’t human. He couldn’t be.
She looked at the man in front of her. Was he human or was he like the ‘things’ she saw? She wondered. Alice didn’t want to find out. She just wanted to go home.
“I’m grateful to you for saving me, but I think it’s time for me to go,” Alice said, trying to persuade him to let her pass.
Devon sighed when he saw she wouldn’t relent if he asked her to stay. He mind-linked Kace and Lucas.
[“Both of you get here right this instant].
Kace was about to take a bite from his breakfast when he heard Devon’s mind link. He closed his eyes and dropped the spoon.
[I’m on my way Supreme Alpha]
Kace glanced at the untouched door
“Why now? I didn’t even have a bite”
He mumbled to himself as he walked out of his house.
Alice was expecting her savior to stop her, but he didn’t.
“I’m glad you understand. Thanks again sir,” she thanked him as she walked out of the room.
If Alice wasn’t aware of what had happened last night, she would have blushed. He was stunning, Alice thought as she walked through the hallway.
Kace arrived first, followed by Lucas. They knocked on the door and walked in to find Devon alone in the room. Where was their Luna? Kace wondered.
“Where is she?” Lucas l asked, curiously.
“She left,” came Devon’s simple reply.
“What!” Kace exclaimed, wide-eyed. Their Supreme Alpha just found his mate, and she left just like that.
“Why didn’t you stop her? It may be dangerous for her to go out there alone?” Lucas inquired in bewilderment. He had no idea what Devon was thinking.
“I know, Lucas. Kace, I want you to follow her in your Lycan form. Make yourself unseen,” Devon declared, walking towards the window.
“Lucas, get the car,” Devon ordered. Lucas and Kace left quickly to carry out what Devon said.
Kace looked around the house till he found Alice at the entrance, talking to one of the Omegas. He transformed into his Lycan form and hid behind a pillar, watching her.
“Thank you,” Alice said to the Omega before she walked to the entrance of the house…..
She finally got to an alley near her house when she noticed someone following her. Kace hid when he noticed Alice stopping and looking back.
“Wait, why are my hiding? She can’t see me in my Lycan form,” He thought to himself.
He came out behind the wall where he hid and his eyes met Alice’s. She gasped the next second when she saw what looked like an enormous wolf with brown fur.
