“Mama.” Tina opened the door, surprised.

“Don’t ‘mama’ me, say Sumi .” Her mother swept in in the truest sense of the word, with her flowing garments making the sound of the rain forest – from which she had probably just come.

“Come in,” Tina said, confused, and closed the door.

Her mother looked around Tina’s living room. “You’ve succumbed to middle-class funk, I see.”
