Xia Na's POV

With my half-lidded eyes, I crossed my arms and asked. "Ling Xiao? What are you doing here?"

Sliding his tongue near his inner cheek, he scoffed. "Shouldn't I ask this to you? You're standing in my home and asking me this."

Narrowing my eyes, I confirmed with him. "Wait, do you live here too?"

Rolling his eyes, he replied to me in his deep, husky voice. "Or else? Who do you think Mr. Ling will be?"

Recalling his last surname, I slapped myself mentally. "Yeah, you're the owner of this large residence, Mr. Ling."

"Don't call me the owner. It's from my dad. I never earn much to mark it mine." Taking a deep sigh, he walked nearer to the couch as I quietly followed him. "What do you mean? Your dad's residence is also yours."

Scoffing at me, he took a seat as I sat beside him too. "Not until you understand Ling's family terms and conditions. They all are businessmen earning millions, while I'm just a doctor working in an ordinary hospital."

I didn't understand his point at all.

"So what? Your healing is higher than any money."

Unexpectedly, a sigh escaped from his mouth while his eyes reflected his tired life. "Only if my family understands my passion. They want me to handle our companies, but I'm not a person who runs after money. I want to live a happy, normal life. I love to cure others' pain."

A tiny chuckle appeared on my lips as I joked. "Everyone wants to earn money, and where do you want to live normally?"

"I believe, happy life is better than a busy life. You can enjoy the colors of life which you may lose when you try to run after money."

A smile reached my eyes as it made me think a bit.

While we kept running after money day and night, we lost the enjoyment of our life somewhere. Is there happiness only after getting money in life? Could we really be happy?

Maybe the little smiles, fun chats that were present in ordinary life were not in the life of wealthy people.

When I wanted to get to know Ling Xiao closely, I acknowledged that he was the opposite of my imagination.

Maybe he understood the meaning of laughably ordinary life. The more I tried to know him, the more I started admiring him.

Every word that escaped from his lips was a motivation. I didn't notice when he stopped talking as I was busy staring at him.

It took me a while to come out of his illusion when he snapped his finger.

"Hello? Back to earth, Xia Na."

My eyes flickered open as I shrugged my thoughts off and replied.

"I know. When will your dad come? I'm waiting for him."

I took a glance at my wristwatch as my eyes got wide. "IT'S ALREADY PAST NINE OF THE EVENING."

Upon checking on the time, his lips partially opened as I stood up.

"When will he come? I have to go home too."

Standing up, he scratched his neck awkwardly. "My dad is on an urgent business trip. He'll return tomorrow. How about you come tomorrow?"

Squeezed my eyes shut, I gazed down, gasping at my fate. "Why am I so unlucky? I waited for nothing. I'm going now."

Lifting my tiring body, I moved further to the exit door when he called me.

"Hey, you look tired. How about I drop you?"

Lifting my hand in the air, I signaled him "no" as I quickly moved away.

"I'll be fine with the bus."

............................

Walking peacefully towards the bus stop, I started humming some songs between the tracks when my gaze fell on the light coming from my back.

Turning my head back, I saw a black colored car following me as it stopped when I turned around.

Taking a clear glimpse, I saw Ling Xiao in the driver's seat.

Undoubtedly, it surprised me as I went to him.

"Hey, now you're started stalking for a new job?"

Chuckling at my comment, he signaled me. "My dad will kill me if I let a woman go home alone. I'll not do anything to you. Just sit inside, and I'll drive to your home."

Resting my hands on the window, I smirked. "I'm mastered in Karate. No one can even touch me. Anyways, thanks for helping."

Passing a smile at him, I walked to the other side and sat down inside the car when I noticed sweat flowing down to his face. It made me laugh aloud as I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Dude, I'm not going to punch you. Don't worry about it."

A sigh released from his lips as he bit his lower lips before starting the car. "O-oh, I'm trusting my life with you."

With this, he started the car. The whole time I laughed at how cute he acted, knowing I mastered Karate.

Author's POV

As they entered her society, he stopped the car near her building.

There was an awkward silence as no one knew what to say?

"S-so, we arrived already."

Snapping out of her thoughts, she hesitated. "Huh? Oh, yeah. Well, then I should go now."

Humming at her, he flashed a smile, almost skipped a beat of her heart.

Quickly moving away, she tried to stand up but failed when he pointed at the seat belt. "The seat belt..."

Stupidly knocking at her lost senses, she firmly pressed her lips together.

"Yeah, I'm acting so strange today. Hahaha!"

Taking out the belt, she ran away as fast as she could when someone called her from behind.

She thought of him as Ling Xiao, but the voice was not matching to him at all.

Curiously, she turned her head around when her brows creased together.

Far from the car, Ling Xiao was playing with his finger, trying to see the face of that man. "Who the heck is he? Her eyes seem soft to him."

Choking in the air, he added, shouting at the peak of his voice.

"WAIT! DON'T TELL ME THAT SHE ALREADY HAS A BOYFRIEND."
