C2

Ten years later …

Deep within the mountain, a wisp of green smoke followed the breeze and entered the mountain.

At the foot of the mountain, there was a village. This village was known as the King's Village.

This village was deserted, as if it was isolated from the world. However, in the center of the village, there was a 20 foot tall stone tower.

There were many deep ravines on top of the tower, and if one looked closely, they would find that there was a handprint an inch deep on the tower! Extremely terrifying!

"Chuan'er! At the entrance of a thatched cottage, an old man shook the long, dry smoke in his hand and shouted into the house.

"Grandfather!" "What time is it, you're about to enter the mountain?" A tender voice came from inside the house.

"The early bird has the worm to eat, now is the time to act, we should act too." The old man said.

A few moments later, a child around ten years old slowly walked out of the thatched cottage with a horned bow on his back. He looked somewhat like a hunter.

This grandfather-grandson pair relied on hunting to maintain their livelihood. Although they were tired, they could still keep themselves warm and full. They could even eat meat that ordinary people couldn't eat all year round.

The grandfather and grandson duo passed by the King's Village, one in front of the other.

"Yo!" "The old gramps is about to enter the mountain again!?" A brawny man holding a haystack asked with a smile when he saw the grandfather and grandson duo.

"That's right, we should enter the mountain as soon as possible so that we can return as soon as possible." The old man said.

"Uncle Heng, why did you come back so early to weed?" The child behind the old man asked.

"Hehe, the grass in the morning is tender, so I brought some dew, those cows love to eat it! Jiang Chuan, you should learn how to hunt properly from your grandfather! "Perhaps in the future, the Great King Village will have to rely on you to eat meat." The muscular man chuckled and said.

"Don't worry Uncle Heng, I can definitely learn my grandfather's true teachings!" The child laughed as he spoke.

The grandfather and grandson duo said their goodbyes and slowly walked towards the depths of the mountains. Before they even entered the mountains, they could already hear the sounds of birds and beasts.

Jiang Chuan was walking behind, and he was carefully listening to the birds and insects in the mountain. Although they were only ten years old, Jiang Chuan could already tell from their voices what kind of birds and beasts they were, even in terms of their age and size. Of course, this ultimate skill had been personally taught by the old man, and did not come out of nowhere.

Jiang Chuan looked left and right, but he was frequently looking at the huge axe on the old man's back!

This axe was stained with rust, but Jiang Chuan knew that it was extremely sharp. Last time, a six foot long wild wolf was split in half by this axe! The broken bone was incomparably smooth, as if it had been cut apart by an extremely sharp weapon!

"Grandfather!" "How long have you been using this axe for?" Jiang Chuan couldn't help but ask curiously.

"Hehe, don't look at this axe. It's something that was passed down from our ancestors! "I'll teach it to you in the future too!" The old man laughed.

"Grandfather!" "Then let me have a try and see if I can take advantage of this." Jiang Chuan said.

"Hmph hmph, you little brat, I'm afraid you can't even lift it, do you still want to use it?" The old man snorted as he took the giant axe from his back and placed it on the ground.

Jiang Chuan wiped his hands and pulled up his pants that looked like they were about to fall off. He stretched his waist and then walked over to the axe. Both of his hands were tightly gripping the handle of the axe!

"Ha!" Jiang Chuan shouted loudly, exerting all of his strength!

Yet the axe on the ground did not move at all!

"Oh my god!" "Why is it so heavy!" Jiang Chuan used all his strength, but the axe did not move at all!

"You're so young, if you could lift this axe, that would be weird! When you're eighteen! Perhaps it was about time! "It's too early now," said the old man, putting the axe back on his back.

Jiang Chuan hung his head in dejection and followed the old man.

"You don't have to be depressed. When you are eighteen years old, after the coming of age ceremony, if you are still unable to lift this axe, then it would not be too late to be sad." The old man said.

When Jiang Chuan heard this, his eyes lit up and he immediately jumped up and down to catch up with the old man.

In the deep morning, there was a hazy fog surrounding the forest. In the middle of the forest, colorful birds fell to the ground to peck at the leaves. Under the thick layer of fallen leaves, the insects' rustling noises could be heard, and in the dark green bushes, there were poisonous snakes that were quietly hibernating, waiting for their prey to come to them.

When the grandfather and grandson entered the mountain, it was as if they alarmed some birds and beasts as they all began to run away with their wings or their hooves.

"Ai, the smell of blood on my body is too strong. These little birds and little beasts are somewhat afraid of me." The old man sighed.

Jiang Chuan had once heard his grandfather say that the smell of blood was an odor formed after killing countless birds and beasts. Ordinary people wouldn't be able to see this kind of smell, and only those birds with keen sense of smell would be able to smell it or sense it.

At the edge of this mountain, the grandfather and grandson duo naturally could not catch their prey. Only by entering deep into the mountains would they be able to find them.

A spotted elk was nibbling on the leaves of a bush when an arrow came piercing through the air with a swoosh!

The sound had alarmed the elk, and although a wild animal like the elk couldn't do anything, its reaction speed was extremely fast!

Almost at the same instant that the sound of breaking air rang out, the moose leapt high into the air!

But this time, the elk didn't seem to matter, it actually bumped into that arrow!

The arrow was not aimed at a deer, but at the top of the deer! At a glance, it was not an arrow that was shot at the deer, but rather the deer itself that had hit the arrow!

"That's right!" You have made great progress. You actually managed to hit something that's so hard to kill with a single strike from an elk! "Looks like I didn't teach you in vain." Behind the bushes, two heads slowly rose. Who else could it be other than the grandfather and grandson duo?

Jiang Chuan held the horned bull bow in his hand. Because the bowstring was still vibrating due to the power exerted just now, that crafty arrow had been shot by this ten-year-old youth!

When Jiang Chuan heard his grandfather's praise, he scratched his head and said with a smile, "These were all taught to me by my grandfather."

The old man nodded, "En, with your little ability, after a few more years of training, you should probably be able to enter the mountain by yourself."

Then the old man cut a piece of wood the size of a fist, peeled it clean, hung the elk on its tip, stood it on the ground, and sprinkled a ring of phosphorous powder around it.

The purpose of this was to prevent the other wild beasts from eating this elk. Phosphorus powder was an excellent protective material.

The grandfather and grandson duo tidied up the deer, packed up their tools and continued to walk towards the depths of the mountain.

"There are powerful wild beasts in the depths of this mountain, even I cannot capture them. Most of them have never seen anyone, let alone fear them. If you go in by yourself in the future, you must be careful of those beasts with bloodshot eyes. They are most likely vicious beasts, and they eat meat with extreme fierceness."

Jiang Chuan nodded his head as he deeply engraved this common sense into his heart. In the future, whenever he met a wild beast, he would just avoid it.
