C3 Winter Mornings

"Are you sure you removed the clue?" he whispered.

"Yes, I'm sure I did," she answered.

They have destroyed the only clue that was left behind, the only clue that could have saved Katherine Gupta from allegations.

The plan was indeed perfect!

*

'#Katherine Gupta can't do this' vs '#Katherine Gupta can do this', since the time the news was revealed, this has been roaming in social media with various hashtags under Gupta.

And once again for the hundredth time, television has been telecasting the breaking news on Gupta. While some were bickering the news channels, some were bickering the Gupta. Unique was one..well..maybe two or more who's smirking, laughing, enjoying listening to the news, like a...maniac.

"What's wrong with you guys? You are laughing when our dear Katherine is being trolled?" Everyone at that stopped laughing, and smirking and took a look at the figure who said that.

They were silent for a minute until a few seconds later when they burst into laughter, including the said figure.

*

She shivered feeling the chills on her skin. Freedom is a need she has always wanted. She's always enjoyed being alone, traveling, exploring, and adventuring. Only until someone special has entered her life, the need to be alone in her mind has evaporated in the air. And that's why she did what she did to save her newly found world. And no, she's not regretting that. Never in her life.

And then she heard his voice again. Fool! She gritted her teeth.

Winter Mornings can not just give you chills in the morning, it can also be a disturbance to your vision. White snow emerges from the ground making it look more white and just an echo of tap-tap can be heard on the vast floor.

A silent figure with a medicine in hand is seen tip-toeing towards the only working room.

Someone who heard the very low tap-tap screamed, "Who's that?"

The silent figure stopped at the entrance of the door and made a jog to the start, and long jumped from the wall, and in the meanwhile, the medicine in his hand slipped through his fist.

And fell on the floor. Someone who just in the nick of time saw him jumping also saw the medicine and took it in her hands. She then made her way to the room with a faint heartbeat and saw him safe lying on the bed. And she breathed relief.

"Thank God he's safe," she whispered.

*

"Won't you ask me how I stabbed him, it should be the first question if I'm not wrong," she leans on her chair.

Ashish exchanges a look with his other officers.

He remembered his conversation with Katherine Gupta and her allegedly true answers. She's so smart, he thought and sighed as the said true answers led him to nowhere but to his boring old cabin.

Katherine sat in the investigation room as Inspector Ashish went away after a fit of not exactly conflicts. She looked at the lady inspector who was asking the question she inflicted upon.

"How did I stab him?"

And for the twentieth time in a row, she said the same answer.

"We know your tricks, you lady. Now tell us the truth, how did you stab him in the back?" Maithili scowled.

"I didn't."

"Yeah, a knife magically appeared from the sky and stabbed him in the back, isn't it?" Inspector Maithili mocked.

"Yeah. Exactly that. Finally, you started working on your brain, eh?" Katherine jabbed.

Maithili fumed at that and said, "Eh girl, don't mess with me! Just tell us the truth or I'll have to start with a third-degree treatment."

"You just guessed that, well not precisely though."

"So, you're saying that a magical knife that fell from the sky stabbed your boyfriend? " She asked.

"Yes, not from the sky though. I think it's from the curtains," she said thinking, lost in the moment.

"Do we look like idiots?" Maithili got up banging on the table and along with her, her chair toppled down to the floor.

"Maybe," she whispered, not even jerking in her place at the loud noise.

*

"Hello to earth!" Kavya waved her hand in front of Zeba who was sitting on the chair.

"Where were you lost?" Kavya asked as soon as she saw Zeba getting back to the earth.

"Nowhere, Mom," Zeba whispered, turning her face away.

"Katherine.." they heard a low whisper in the silent room and turned toward the source in shock.

*

A slap landed on her face for telling the same story every time. Katherine glared at them furiously.

"What? Don't you dare glare at us," Maithili screamed.

"You would tell the same old story and we would stay silent, that is what you thought we'd do, right?" Ashish said.

"The same old story is nothing but the truth, but if you really don't want to investigate further as to know what actually happened and not what you thought has happened and forced the queries down my throat so you could actually get what you want me to admit, just to satisfy your so-called theory, without actually investigating in deep or considering the other options that can actually happen then, yes, it's not the truth. For your delusional self's sake. Happy?" Katherine gritted her teeth.

Another slap landed on her cheek for being blunt.

"Did you slap me because I was telling the truth or is it because you were not able to accept the actual truth?"

"Shut up!" he screamed.

"Why? If you don't get me to admit the your-so-called-theory, money may slip from your pocket, eh?" At this Maithili and Ashish were shocked while other constables were confused.

"How much did they offer and how much did you take?" She was straightforward.

"How dare you accuse us of such a thing?" Maithili was furious.

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. But what do I do? It's your behavior that got me. And now tell me, was I right? Or was I wrong? You see, I'm not delusional and I don't force down my theory on someone's throat. I tend to give the benefit of the doubt and explore the other options. Only then can we confidently say that this option is right, right Mr. Ashish. Unlike you, of course," she raised her eyebrows smirking even though her lips hurt as she did so. Thanks to the slaps that rewarded her with a torn lip.
