C1 Wrong Answer

Iris point of view

"Iris, stop dragging your feet for once and deliver the message to the Alpha!"

Miss Felicia yelled in my ears, all but loud enough to cause my eardrums to explode, wrapping her hands together and giving me a stern look.

"... The elders arrived over 10 minutes ago. How dare you keep them waiting?!" She continued to bark at me, and my heart sank as my fist began to tremble with anger.

"I'm not trying to dishonour the elders but the Alpha he…well he's…."

I looked around at the other maids in the kitchen who had escaped this terrible task, and all of them avoided my gaze. For the past month, nobody in their right mind would want to come close to Alpha Kristen, and for good reason, too.

"I don't have time to listen to your worthless excuses, go and tell the alpha that the elders want to see him or you are going to get it…"

Finding myself trapped between a rock and a hard place, I sighed with resignation as I started dragging it out of the kitchen towards the Alpha's room.

Before I could even enter his room, I could already hear the pained growling sounds, and it was quickly accompanied by the sound of shattering objects that filled my entire body with dread, and my stomach twisted up.

He has been like this for over a month, and everybody knew why without exactly knowing why. Over a month ago, when his wedding had just been 3 days away, he came out and publicly cancelled it.

His bride also left, and nobody could demand an explanation from Alpha Kristen. Besides his position, he had been an unbearable presence for anybody that came across him. I wouldn't be surprised if one day he was tied up and taken into a psychiatric hospital.

He was obviously heartbroken and reacting with violence, but nobody can understand what happened to his relationship. Everyone assumed that he was the one that broke up with her. After all, nobody could really picture somebody rejecting a man that was as handsome and well positioned as Alpha Kristen.

I took a deep breath coming to the realization of what I had to do as my clenched fist continued to shake inches away from the door. Then, when I closed my eyes and pictured Miss Felicia cancelling my supper because I could not fulfil this task, I brought my body forward, knocking on the door timidly.

"Who's at my door? get out!"

His deep voice came from inside the room, the bitterness inside it so thick that I could taste it from just hearing his voice alone. I trembled like a leaf in the wind, trying to regain myself and coherently tell him what I was here to do in the first place.

"Your majesty, there are some important people here to see you…"

I said what I helplessly wishing with my entire heart that he would just come out of his room and meet with his guest so I wasn't somehow blamed for it but it looked like he was bent on getting me in trouble not like I even new the complications I was involved in coming late now being by his doorstep to summon him.

Maids were not really seen as people in the palace more like objects that could speak, and he was literally the King, he stood at the Pinnacle of the hierarchy while I was at the very bottom the audacity that was required to me to stand by his door even after he yelled at me to leave was quite a lot.

But it didn't matter what the session I made, if I went back to Miss Felicia and told her that I wasn't able to summon him she would obviously not risk herself and just tell the elders that I had refused to even go and do anything at all.

But if I stayed here, there was a chance…even though it was a very slim chance, but I was ready to take it.

His door was not actually locked. I had noticed that it had removed a couple of inches after I knocked on it the first time, and my heart was pounding with whatever I was going to do next. I put my foot forward, adjusting it and opening up the gap in the door until I could walk into the room.

And there was a king that everybody respected and feared also adored of course in the middle of his own disaster his room looked as if it's had been visited by hurricane almost moments ago with every piece of furniture toppled over on itself, the proteins were completely shredded and there were many on identified stains on the walls and even on the rich soft carpets, along with some unidentified smells that I wasn't even going to investigate.

He suddenly came so strangely that I was scared in a different way. At least if he was yelling, he would be far more predictable but as he slowly turned around to face me standing at the entrance of his room he asked in a low voice why she had abandoned him.

Of course, I was immediately struck with stunned silence. What could he possibly mean by that?

So I decided to just ignore that and tell him what I came here to do but in a brief second he pulled me into the room until my back was against the wall that had the wallpaper ripped off and he was staring down at me with a cold expression.

"I asked you a question: why did she leave me? We were both so happy together, so why did she just pack up and go?"

I never imagined that of all people, the Alpha King could be asking me this very question, and I was left utterly speechless.

I was so afraid that it was hard for me to find my voice and respond to him but he had me back against the wall and he wasn't releasing me until I gave him some kind of answer.

"Maybe she fell in love with someone else?"
