C26 Chapter 25 – The Hidden Cave

Morning arrived with a thick blanket of fog.

Hope Island looked completely different.

The trees were only dark shadows.

The pond was hidden beneath a layer of white mist.

Even the sound of the waves seemed distant.

Aiden stepped out of his hut and paused.

"I can't explore like this."

Visibility was less than twenty meters.

Walking through the forest would be dangerous.

Instead, he followed his daily routine.

He watered the wheat and potato fields.

The wheat had already begun its second growth cycle.

Tiny green leaves had also appeared where the potatoes were planted.

"They've started growing."

The sight filled him with quiet satisfaction.

His farm was slowly becoming stable.

---

After breakfast, Aiden organized the storage box.

He placed food, seeds, ores, monster materials, and rare resources into separate sections.

The more organized everything became, the less time he wasted searching.

While moving the Mana Crystal Ore, he noticed something unusual.

The crystal emitted a faint blue glow.

It was weak...

But steady.

He picked it up.

The glow became slightly brighter.

"What are you reacting to?"

Curious, Aiden slipped the crystal into a small pouch and tied it to his belt.

"If it reacts again..."

"I'll know."

---

The fog finally began to disappear around noon.

Sunlight slowly broke through the clouds.

"This is my chance."

Instead of heading toward the eastern forest, Aiden chose another direction.

The western cliffs.

He had explored them only once.

There were still many places he had never seen.

As he climbed over loose rocks, the Mana Crystal suddenly became warmer.

A faint blue light escaped from the pouch.

Aiden immediately stopped.

"It's reacting again."

He walked a few more steps.

The light grew brighter.

Then weaker.

He turned around.

The glow strengthened once more.

"It's pointing somewhere..."

Carefully following the crystal's reaction, Aiden reached a narrow crack hidden behind several large bushes.

It was almost impossible to notice from a distance.

Cold air flowed out from inside.

"A cave..."

He tightened his grip on the Bone Spear.

The entrance was barely wide enough for one person.

After taking a deep breath, he lit a wooden torch and stepped inside.

---

The cave was surprisingly quiet.

Drops of water fell from the ceiling.

The walls sparkled with tiny crystals.

The air smelled damp and cool.

Every sound echoed through the darkness.

Aiden moved slowly.

One careful step after another.

About fifty meters inside, the tunnel split into two paths.

The Mana Crystal glowed toward the left.

He followed it.

Soon...

He reached a small underground chamber.

At its center stood a clear pool of water.

The surface was perfectly still.

Blue crystals grew naturally along the walls, filling the chamber with soft light.

"It... it's beautiful."

For several moments, Aiden simply admired the scene.

Then the System appeared.

---

Aiden smiled.

"This alone made the trip worthwhile."

Just as he prepared to leave...

A faint scratching sound echoed from deeper inside the cave.

Scratch...

Scratch...

He immediately extinguished his torch.

The blue crystals provided enough light.

Slowly...

He peeked around a large rock.

Several creatures were digging at the cave wall.

They were about the size of rabbits.

Their bodies were covered in gray scales.

Sharp claws scraped against the stone.

The System quietly identified them.

---

Stone Burrow Lizard

Rank: Common

Neutral

Warning:

---

"There are four of them."

Aiden counted carefully.

Fighting inside a narrow cave would be dangerous.

He wasn't here to hunt.

He was here to explore.

Without making a sound, he slowly stepped backward.

One step.

Then another.

Suddenly...

A small pebble rolled beneath his foot.

Click.

All four lizards instantly stopped digging.

Their heads turned toward him.

Bright yellow eyes locked onto Aiden.

For one tense second...

Nobody moved.

Then...

One lizard let out a sharp hiss.

Hissss!

The others immediately rushed forward.

"They found me!"

Aiden spun around and ran.

The narrow tunnel worked in his favor.

Only one lizard could chase him at a time.

As the first creature lunged...

Aiden stepped sideways and thrust his Bone Spear.

Thud!

The spear struck the lizard's shoulder, knocking it backward.

Instead of continuing the fight, Aiden kept running.

His goal wasn't victory.

It was escape.

Sunlight appeared ahead.

He burst out of the cave entrance just as the lizards reached the opening.

The creatures stopped.

They hissed angrily from inside the shadows.

But none of them crossed into the sunlight.

After a few moments...

They retreated back into the darkness.

Aiden let out a long breath.

"I survived..."

His hands were trembling.

Not from exhaustion.

From excitement.

The island still held countless unexplored places.

Some contained treasure.

Others contained danger.

Today...

He had found both.

---

As evening fell, Aiden returned to Hope Island.

He placed the bottle of Mana Spring Water inside the storage box.

Then he drew a rough map of the island in his Survival Journal.

He marked:

- His Camp

- The Pond

- Iron Ore Deposit

- Ancient Echo Valley

- Island Core

- Crystal Spring Cave

Looking at the map, he realized how much of the island remained unknown.

He smiled.

"So much left to discover."

Just before going to sleep, a new System notification appeared.

---

---

Aiden looked at the glowing map with satisfaction.

"This will make future exploration much easier."

Outside...

Deep within the Crystal Spring Cave...

One of the Stone Burrow Lizards slowly raised its head.

Behind it...

Far deeper than Aiden had reached...

A massive stone gate covered in ancient runes silently trembled.

A thin line of blue light escaped through one of its cracks.

Something sealed behind that gate...

Had sensed the presence of a human.
