C16 Sixteen

Chapter's song; better by khalid

It was already dawn and Anisah sat in the chair in the kitchen that stood behind a table. She was studying mathematics and it wasn't easy for her because she was terrible at it. Presently she was trying to find X which wasn't something easy at all. She felt like crying.

"Stupid maths" She said while banging her hand on the table.

"Don't break my table please, I'm sure you can't afford it" waleed said the minute he walked into the kitchen. She didn't say anything. She just simply focused on her book.

"Where are my pots?" He asked while staring up at the cupboards.

"What do you want me to make for you?" She asked calmly while staring at him with a neutral expression.

"Don't worry, you cannot make it. Just show me to the pots" he said and she immediately pointed at a cabinet where the pots laid. He nodded and picked up a tea pot and placed it on the gas stove.

"Where are the things we got from sahad?" He asked and she pointed towards a cabinet where she had arranged it all.

"Alright" he said. Picking up a sealed seed, green tea and a black coffee which he immediately mixed in the pot which he had already filed with water. Anisah stared at him calmly watching him shake his head as the music played in his left ear, he was listening to better by Khalid with an ear pod on and humming to the song.

"Perfecto" he said trying to pick it up which wasn't successful for him, because the supper hot cup of mixture poured on his feet. Making a loud yelp escape his lips.

"Oh my God, waleed" Anisah got up and walked over to him. She grabbed his hand and began blowing air from her mouth on it as she led him to where the salt was kept. She immediately rubbed salt on his already red hand. He stared at her calmly, watching all what she was doing. She looked very calm and gentle while handling his wound.

"Are you okay?" She asked him and he nodded absentmindedly. "Sit down I'll make it for you again" she said and he nodded and sat before her maths notebook.

She started making the mixture and he stared at her calmy. What was wrong with him, he thought and immediately diverted his gaze to her maths notebook.

In not less than fifteen minutes she was done making the mixture which she immediately took to him. "X is supposed to come before Y" he said the moment she stood before him.

"Huh?" She felt confused.

"The equation is wrong, you are supposed to find X by cross multiplying it. Let me show you" he found himself saying and she found herself seating and he immediately started teaching her to do a proper equation which she paid proper attention to. Infact, he spent over thirty minutes showing her how to solve the equation.

"You see?, that's it" he said which made a smile grace her lips.

"Thank you waleed" she said happily while staring at her book.

"You're welcome" he mumbled while picking up his tea. He walked away with Anisah watching him. What just happened, did waleed really just help her?. She thought while fliping through the pages of her book. Wow she couldn't belive she had finally understood the equation. She was happy, that night she slept happy knowing her maths result might turn out good God willingly.

The next day went in a blur and Anisah was presently seated in Jamal's car and heading to a place where his mother owned. It was an orphanage where kids from different part of Nigeria were brought to.

"So how many kids are there?" Anisah asked while chewing on a spring roll.

"Over hundred kids" Jamal said while taking a turn and parking Infront of a well built orphanage.

"Home for all" Anisah read loudly what was engrossed on the big gate which was opened for them to drive inn.

"This is the third time I'm being here. I came back from Germany last month and well I was met with this from my mum" Jamal said.

"Its a beautiful place" Anisah said on seeing how beautifully kept the place was. "But why is it so noisy?, like the music is so loud" she commented at how loud the music in the background wa.

"They must be having a party" Jamal. Said while getting down from the car allong with Anisah who was still dressed in her school uniform. Speaking of school, her maths exam went great thanks to waleed.

"Wow... I wanna see the kids" Anisah said in all enthusiasm and he chuckled.

"Okay, i'll show you to where the party is taking place but first lets go in. let me give my mum this documents" he gestured at the documents in his hand.

"Alright" she said and they both immediately walked in. They greeted the men at the gate and proceeded further into the orphanage which looked less of kids because most of them were in the garden having fun in the party.

On reaching his mother's office, he knocked and she immediately muttered a Come in which they both did. "Sorry I am late mum" Jamal said to the beautiful woman who looked nothing short of fifty summers.

"No problem, and who is this beauty behind you?" The woman asked and Anisah while muttering some greeting's.

"Her name is Anisah. She is my new friend" Jamal said and the woman smiled.

"I love your eyes dear" She said and Anisah thanked her.

"mum you guys are having party here?" Jamal asked.

"Yes, their friend is here to see them" Jamal's mum said and he nodded.

"Alright, Anisah would love to see the kids. See you at home mum" Jamal waved at his mum before leaving with Anisah who did the same.

"let's go to where the music is coming from. I'm very sure its from the garden" Jamal said while leading Anisah to the garden where the kids danced and played happily.

They got there and she stood put to the ground watching them. They all looked happy, they were busy pouring water all over themselves and the man who was playing with them. They all looked happy with laughter louder than the sound of the loud music. in a swift motion made by the man, he turned arround with his face stretched with great happiness. He was wet and looked as though all he ever knew who was how to play.

"Waleed" Anisah said on seeing the drenched face laughing allong with the children with his cloths wet.

"I did tell you I've seen his face before" Jamal said as though he had just remembered something. Anisah on the other hand walked over to waleed with laughter emerging in her voice as he stared at her with great shock.
