C1 Knight in shining armor

This was every girl's worst nightmare.

Tia couldn't believe this was happening to her! On her own wedding day, her husband was no show. She never thought! She never guessed! She never knew this was going to happen to her!

How could Kane do this to her? He acted so normal before the wedding. He was excited about their plans and everything, how could he not show up?

The wedding hall was filled with guests, how would she face them? The embarrassment was too much. She had never experienced such betrayal in her life, it hurt so bad.

Dominic, Kane's elder brother handed her the letter in which wrote that he wasn't going to show up for the wedding. Apparently, he had another woman who he was going to marry. She thought it was just a prank, she forced a short laugh as she tried Kane's number repeatedly but he didn’t respond.

"You knew about this, didn't you?" Tia asked Dominic as she grabbed the lapels of his suit.

"You knew that he was going to jilt me at the altar! You knew he was going to stand me up today! Why didn't you tell me? Why?" She asked Dominic as tears rushed down her eyes, ruining her makeup.

She felt dizzy.

Her parents were waiting for her in the next room. They didn't know what was going on. How could she face them and tell them what happened? How could she face a whole room full of guests? She didn't know what to do...

"What's going on?" Her mother barged into the room and saw her crying.

'What's going on? Tia, my darling why are you crying? Where is Kane?" Her mother asked. With shaky hands, she handed her mother the letter.

Her mother read the letter and burst into tears alongside her daughter.

How could this happening on her wedding day? The day that was supposed to be the best day of her life had turned into a nightmare!

Dominic just stood on there, unflinching. Was he made of rock? Couldn't he empathize with her? Tia felt nauseous. She was going to faint. She needed someone to wake her up from this nightmare!

Kane claimed to love her. He wanted to start a family with her. He was excited so how could he do this to her?

She just wanted this to end...

"Tia, I have a solution for you but first you have to calm down" Dominic suddenly said.

She had no words for him so she glared at him instead.

"Allow me to get married to you in place of my brother, Tia" he said shocking Tia to her bone marrow.

"What do you mean by that, Dominic?" It was a ridiculous suggestion. "Why do you want to marry me? Did you and your brother planned this? He'd dump me at the altar then you would swoop in and save my ass? Was that your plan all along?"

Tia knew how ridiculous her accusation sounded but she didn’t care!

"You know I will never do that to you!" Dominic said.

"I don't know anything! In fact, I barely even know you. You could have planned this!"

Dominic was Tia's boss at work and he'd always been against her relationship with Kane.

"No I didn't! I'm only trying to save you from humiliation!" He said vehemently.

"You have to accept my proposal, because that is the only chance you have. The hallway is filled with guests waiting for the bride and groom to show. Who knows what would they do when they find out that the wedding is not going to hold? They left their houses just to go back without a celebration?"

"Hey, Tia" his voice softened as he came closer to her. "Most of the guests present don't know what Kane looks like. Not everybody will know that you're marrying me as a replacement for my brother... Just accept this proposal"

It sounded so preposterous. It was hard to believe that this was her reality. She never even imagined that she would marry Dominic. A man who she'd always disliked...

"It doesn't have to be a real marriage" Dominic added.

"We can get divorced after a year or two. Just marry me to save yourself"

"What's in it for you?" Tia asked, suspicious. "Why are you helping me?"

"My reasons are unimportant" he said, urgently. "Just give yourself to me, Tia. Allow me to save you..."

Now Tia had no choice. The offer was too good to resist. By the way, she wasn't even going to be in a real marriage with him so she could leave whenever she wanted. He offered himself so she was going to use him to get over the shame and embarrassment his brother caused her.

She had no choice than to marry him because the hallway was filled with guests. And she couldn't tell them that a wedding wasn't going to hold. The news would spread and she wouldn't be able to lift her head in public.

"Tia, let's get married right now. After then I can ship you off to Hong Kong for our honeymoon. There you can get away from everything and everyone..."

His offer was her nuclear option. Right now, Dominic was her knight in shining amour because she'd let him.
