C16 Chapter 16
The Murder scene of Drake and the girl he was with was so brutal. There was blood everywhere - splattered on the VIP couch, pooled on the floor, smeared on the walls. But the strange part was that there were no signs of struggle. No broken glass, no overturned tables, no defensive wounds on Drake or the girl. It was like they were paralyzed, unaware of what was happening... because they were drugged. The police were working on confirming the tox reports, but it looked like the killer had slipped something into their drinks.
The hard part is that this murder happened in a club where hundreds of people are partying, dancing, having fun. Finding the culprit in that chaos will be like finding a needle in a haystack. The club was dark, crowded, and loud - perfect cover for a killer. Did the killer know Drake? Was it a targeted attack or random? The investigation is just beginning...
The images of the scene kept flashing in Emily's mind as she held Jules tight. Who could be doing this? First the messages, now Drake's murder... what's next? The police were doing their best, but it felt like they were chasing shadows.
The detective working the case, Detective James, was a no-nonsense type. He'd been briefed on the messages sent to Jules and was treating this as a high-priority case. "We'll get to the bottom of this," he told Emily. "But we need to keep Jules safe."
Jules was shaken but trying to stay strong. "Mom, I want to help find whoever did this," she said, her voice firm despite the fear in her eyes. Emily's heart ached for her daughter - she wanted to shield her from all this, but she knew Jules needed to be involved.
The police had taken Jules' phone and were analyzing the messages. "They're coming from a burner phone," Detective James said. "But we'll keep trying to track it."
As the hours ticked by, Emily, Jules, and the police worked together to piece things together. The club's security footage showed Drake and the girl entering a VIP section around 9pm.After that, the footage got fuzzy - like someone had tampered with it.
Drake's family was devastated. "He was a good kid," his mom said in tears. "Who would do this?" He told me he was meeting a friend from college - they were at the club celebrating her birthday.
The police were checking alibis, interviewing witnesses, and digging into Drake's life. Any enemies? Any suspicious interactions? So far, nothing concrete.
But the message on Emily's phone lingered like a threat: "You're next." Who was it? And what did they want? Emily thought within herself.
The secure location the police took Emily and Jules to was a safehouse on the outskirts of town. "Stay here, stay low," the police said. Emily nodded, her arm around Jules.
As night fell, Jules looked out the window, scared. "Mom, what if they find us?" Emily pulled her close. "We stay safe, baby. The police are working on it."
In the darkness, Emily's mind was a storm. Who was doing this? And why? The investigation would go on through the night...
The next morning would bring new questions, new leads maybe. For now, Emily held Jules tight, waiting for dawn.
