C6 Chapter 6

A month had passed since the incident with Lia, and life had seemingly returned to normal for Jules and Emily. Jules was back in school, catching up with friends and focusing on her studies.

The bell had just rung, signaling the end of the school day, when Emily arrived to pick Jules up. They were chatting in the car when a call came through on Emily's phone. She answered, her expression growing serious.

"Okay, we'll be right there," she said, hanging up.

"What is it?" Jules asked.

"It's the detective," Emily said. "They need to talk to us. Now."

The detective was waiting at the station, looking grim. "Jules, Emily...Lia's escaped from the cell."

Jules's eyes widened. "What? How?"

"She was found at an abandoned building on the outskirts of town," the detective said. "The scene looks like a suicide...but the autopsy says otherwise. Signs of struggle, defensive wounds...it was staged."

Jules felt a chill. "What does that mean?"

The detective's expression was serious. "It means someone might've helped Lia escape. And they might be trying to cover it up."

The detective's words hung in the air like a threat. Jules felt a shiver run down her spine. "Cover it up?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.

The detective nodded, his expression grim. "We need to consider the possibility that Lia didn't act alone. And if that's the case...we don't know who else is involved."

Emily's eyes narrowed. "You think someone's after Jules?"

The detective hesitated before speaking. "We're not ruling anything out. We need to keep Jules safe until we sort this out."

Jules's mind was racing. Who could be behind this? And what did they want?
